LOGINAva’s POV
I sat on the bed with my arms wrapped tight around my knees. I could not help but feel like an intruder in this giant, rich house. It was bad enough that I was being held captive like a prisoner against my will, but now I felt even worse. After Selene walked out of the room, I completely freaked out. I pulled at my hair, feeling so angry at myself. Why did I ever accept Damien's help in the first place? I was such a fool. I knew he was powerful, and now I knew he had another woman right by his side. A rich, powerful lady who was going to be his wife. I should have just run away. I should have hidden in another city. Anything was better than standing in this room, taking insults from his new woman. All through the afternoon, I stayed in the room, feeling terrible about myself.. A servant came into the room twice, bringing nice plates of hot food for me and Lucas. I fed Lucas his lunch, but I refused to eat a single bite myself. My stomach was tied up in tight knots. I could not swallow anything. I just stared out the window, counting the hours until the sun went down. Later that evening, the front doors of the door opened. Damien stepped in. When my eyes landed on him, something inside me snapped. The sight of his handsome, calm face just infuriated me to no end. How dare he act like everything was normal? How dare he come in like he owned me? "What is your plan, Damien?!" I shouted at him, jumping up from the bed. "What are you trying to do to me?!" Damien stopped in his tracks. He blinked, looking genuinely surprised by my sudden anger. "Ava, calm down," he said, raising his hands slightly. "I just got back. I came to check on you and Lucas." "Do not tell me to calm down!" I yelled, taking a fast step toward him. "Let me go, Damien! Just open those doors and let us leave right now! I am an adult! I am fully capable of protecting my son the way I see fit! I took care of him for years without anyone helping, and I do not need your help now!" Damien's face darkened instantly. His jaw tightened, and his eyes turned hard as ice. He took a heavy step toward me, towering over my small frame. "This is not about protecting your son, Ava," he said gruffly, his voice deep and rough like grinding stones. "This is about making sure he is always safe! This is about making sure he grows up properly, and not living a poor, miserable life out in the dirt with you!" The word poor hit my heart like a sharp knife. Before I could even think, my arm flew up. My palm swung through the air and hit his face with a loud, hard slap. PAK! Damien's head snapped to the side. The whole room went dead silent. My breath was fast and heavy. My hand was stinging from the hard blow, but I did not care. I glared at him, tears of anger burning in my eyes. "First your lover walks in here to call me a nobody," I spat out, my voice trembling with rage. "And now you walk in here to call me poor! You think you are better than me because of your money and your fancy house? You mean nothing to me, Damien! Nothing!" Damien slowly turned his head back to face me. He held his red cheek with one hand, but he was not looking at me with anger. He was looking at me with pure shock. "What did you just say?" Damien asked, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous whisper. "Selene, talk to you?" "Yes! She did!" I screamed in his face. Damien stood completely still. He looked like he had just been hit by a rock. "Selene came over to the estate? After I specifically told the guards not to let anyone in here?" He did not wait for me to answer. A look of dark, wild fury crossed his face. He turned around on his heel and marched right out of the room, slamming the door shut behind him. "Damien! Let me go! Let us go!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as his heavy footsteps moved down the hallway. "Let me out of here! You monster!" My screams did not bring him back. The hallway went completely quiet again. My legs gave out beneath me. I buckled right onto my knees on the cold floor, pulling my hands up to cover my face. Hot tears streamed down my cheeks, soaking into my skin.Ava’s POVI sat on the bed with my arms wrapped tight around my knees. I could not help but feel like an intruder in this giant, rich house. Ava’s POVI sat on the soft couch in the living room. My whole body was shaking. I was so jumpy that every small noise made me startle. I kept my back straight and squeezed my hands together in my lap.Selene sat right across from me on another couch. She looked so pretty, and her clothes were very nice. We just sat there in the quiet room, staring at each other in total silence for a long time. The silence felt terrible. I could hear the clock ticking on the wall, and my heart was beating fast. Finally, Selene broke the silence. She looked over at the corner of the room where Lucas was playing with a small toy on the floor."Your son is very cute," Selene said softly."Thank you," I whispered. Selene turned her eyes back to me. Her face was calm, but her eyes were very sharp. "Who is his father?" she asked directly. When she said those words, a wave of pure terror ran through my body. My hands started to shake even more. My head felt dizzy. This was the exact question I was afraid o
Ava’s POV I could not stay in this house for one more day. I spent years of my life hiding from Damien, and now I was trapped under his roof. Every single minute here felt like a bad dream. I was terrified that Damien would take Lucas away from me. I knew that if we stayed here any longer, he would find out the truth. He would figure out that Lucas is his son. If he found out, he would steal my baby, and I would lose Lucas forever. I could not let that happen. Later that morning, I peeped out and realized none of the guard were present. For a second, I was surprised but then I realized this could be my perfect oppprtunity. But I have to make sure the road is clear. I walked further the hallway, two staff members were arranging the flower vase, I stood near the wall and listened to them talk. "The boss left the house early," one staff member said. "He is not around today. He is very busy." When I heard those words, my heartbeat increased. Damien was not around! The guard monit
CHAPTER 8SELENE’S POVI stood in the center of my bedroom, my whole body shaking with pure rage. I could not keep my calm anymore. The moment the bedroom door was locked tight behind me, I completely lost my mind."How could he do this to me?!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, throwing a glass vase right at the wall.It smashed into a hundred sharp pieces, shattering onto the floor, but it did not make me feel any better. I let out another loud scream and swept everything off my dressing table with one hard swing of my arm. Perfume bottles, expensive makeup, and hairbrushes crashed onto the cold floor. How could Damien do this? How could he bring another woman into this pack house right under my nose? We were supposed to get married. I was supposed to become the Luna of this pack, and everyone was supposed to respect me. Bringing his ex-girlfriend here without my permission was a huge slap in my face. It was humilia
DAMIEN’S POVI stood there looking down at Selene. I could feel the coldness in her tone. It was hidden right behind her empty stare. She was trying to look calm and gentle, but her eyes were cold, blank."I am just helping someone I once knew," I told her plainly, keeping my voice flat and even. "She is in need. That is all there is to it. It is nothing else."Selene did not blink. She kept her fingers resting lightly against my chest, her face completely smooth."If that is all it is," she said, her voice still soft, slow, and dangerous, "then introduce her to me. Take me to her room right now, Damien. Let me meet this woman you are helping so kindly.”"No," I declined immediately. I did not want her anywhere near Ava or Lucas. I took a small step back, pulling my body away from her touch. "I cannot do that right now. I have an important meeting to attend with my father, and I am already running late."Selene did not push me. She did not raise her voice nor throw a tantrum. She just
DAMIEN’S POV Ava pushed me away with all the strength she had left in her body. Her small hands hit my chest hard, shoving me back. "Get away from me!" she screamed, her eyes full of pure hatred. "Just leave! Get out!" I didn't get angry at her. I stood my ground for a second, looking down at her pale, shaking body. She was completely exhausted from screaming at me, but the fire in her eyes was real. I knew I had pushed her too far with that kiss on her forehead, but I just could not stop myself from touching her. Instead of arguing with her, I turned my attention to the little boy sitting on the bed. Lucas was watching us with big, nervous eyes. I walked over to the bed, bent down on one knee, and brought myself to eye level with him. I forced a soft, warm smile onto my face. "Don't worry, little guy," I said gently to Lucas. "You and I are going to get along so well. Just give it some time." Lucas did not answer, he just stared at me, clutching his soft blanket tightly against
