“The one and only.” Sandra smirked, flipping her blonde hair over her shoulder.

Dressed in a dark brown gown which stopped above her knees, Sandra stood tall in her cream heels which matched her bright blonde hair. She was holding a glass of wine in her hand with a devilish smirk hanging on her lips.

It has been almost two months since Anaya last saw Sandra but the hatred she noticed in Sandra’s eyes the last time they met was still present. Yet, she was unable to get any information that linked her to Sandra.

Thomas’s words lingered now…Sandra and Daisy were working together.

Daisy had obviously hidden the fact that she knew Sandra when they were still friends. After Anaya broke up with Thomas because of his involvement with Sandra, the news about their engagement was everywhere.

So even if Anaya didn’t tell Daisy about Sandra or showed her pictures, Daisy would have surely seen the news. Yet, she never made mention of Sandra during their time together. Could it be that Sandra’s af

“Thank you so much.” Anaya watched as Samira smiled at the customer who turned around to leave. As soon as Samira met Anaya’s gaze from the opposite side of the road, her smile dropped instantly.Someone else came to purchase something from her kiosk but she remained unmoving, her eyes fixated on Anaya until the person tapped her. Anaya locked her car and crossed the road, heading towards the kiosk. When faced with no other option but to meet her uncle, Anaya searched about Charles and read about how his company got bankrupt and how he had to sell his properties in order to pay his debt. She thought she would feel sad to see how her once rich and money-grubbing uncle had fallen from grace to grass but strangely, she felt numb.Maybe it was because of the pent up anger and hatred she had built up for him and his family but she didn’t feel bad for how his life turned out. To find out what transpired between him and Daisy’s mother, she asked Maia to get information on his whereabouts.

“Good morning, ma’am.” The receptionist in the front desk at the law firm smiled warmly at Anaya. “Who are you here to see?” She asked politely and Anaya instantly took a liking to her.Unlike other receptionists who are either extremely rude or completely bored with their work, she seemed genuinely nice and her smile looked sincere. Somehow, her ambiance soothed the rage in Anaya’s head slightly.“Mr. Jetkins. I called him this morning.” Anaya muttered and the lady nodded before giving a call to the lawyer.Anaya’s heart was still beating fast at the possibility that her parents could have been responsible for Daisy’s father’s death. Joanne had informed her that the man was killed in a car accident on a rainy night. And he died the same year her parents had that accident that took their lives. She hoped it was merely a coincidence. And that both accidents happened on totally different days. But there was still a dark thought lurking in her mind. What if it wasn’t?What if her parents

“Good morning, boss.” Norah greeted as Anaya walked down the hallway, heading to her office.“Morning, Norah.” She replied absentmindedly as she took out her phone from her bag to dial Maia’s number. She was tired from driving two hours early this morning to meet up with Joanne and driving back to LA but the vital piece of information she received from Daisy’s mother was too important to just keep to herself.Joanne had told her that Daisy had a biological sister which she found out that Daisy had been keeping in touch with for a year. But who knows whether it has not been longer than a year? There was only one person Anaya was suspecting to be Daisy’s sister and that was Sandra. It would make a lot more sense if they were sisters, planning to ruin her life for a unified mission. Anaya tried to picture Daisy’s and Sandra’s face to check for any resemblance but her head was aching and she was unable to conjure up any image. The call went straight to voicemail and she sighed before cal

Tears filled Joanne’s eyes and Anaya felt guilty that she had touched a sensitive spot. But she needed to get to the bottom of this. Joanne wasn’t Daisy’s real mother? This wasn’t making sense.“I-I thought you knew.” Joanne muttered as her lips quivered. “Knew what?” Anaya asked.“I am Daisy’s foster mother.” Joanne revealed, dabbing her tears to hold back her tears.“I-I had no idea.” Anaya couldn’t help but stutter with shock. “Your love for her never once made me doubt that she wasn’t your daughter.” Anaya realized just how much she didn’t know about Daisy who had allegedly been her best friend for close to a decade. “Of course.” Joanne smiled despite the tears in her eyes. “I had never once thought less of her ever since she was brought home at just twelve years old. Even though I gave birth to Lewis just a year later, my love for Daisy never diminished in any way.” “Twelve years old.” Anaya murmured. That was the same age her parents had died. She didn’t want to think too mu

She had to drive down here for two hours because Joanne told her she wouldn’t be able to come all the way to LA.Joanne had been reluctant to speak with her and Anaya could guess why. The last time they spoke was when she called Joanne to head to the hospital after Daisy smashed her head with the vase. She wouldn’t put it past Daisy if she had told Joanne the same story she had told everyone. That she was the crazy friend who had tried to kill her best friend because she was paranoid. It took a few calls and text messages until Joanne finally yielded and agreed for just an hour meeting. It was the only thing Anaya needed from her.Fifteen minutes into the agreed time, anxiety found its way to Anaya’s heart. She wondered if Joanne had a second thought at the last minute and decided to stand her up. Or had Daisy gotten a whiff of this and called her mother in time?Maia had taken pr
