Chapter 8

Giselle's POV :

As I started working on my third file out of seven, my boss showed up. I ignored him and continued with my files. I thought he left, but then a shadow loomed over me. I looked up and he was FURIOUS! Uh oh! What did I do now?

He slammed his hand on my desk and barked, "In my office. NOW!"

I got up and followed him. He threw a newspaper at my face.

"Open page 7."

I opened it.

"So what? How is this related to me?"

"It's you in that picture isn't it?"

I looked at the small picture and saw a woman in a black dress similar to mine kissing a guy. The headlines wrote, "Is it just the Sun, or is it getting hot in the Nightclub?"

Oh my gosh! The media had to post this in the paper? If they're running out of articles, they can just give me a call. Who writes this about clubs? Come on! It's a really common thing.

I asked him, "You think this is me?"

I handed the paper back to him. He looked at the picture and stormed over to me. He held my shoulders in a death grip and said, "Is it NOT you?" I winced at his grip.

When I wasn't answering, he added more pressure and there were tears pooling in my eyes.

"I d-don't have a tattoo on my leg, sir. That's not me."

He loosened his grip and bent down to see if I had a tattoo.

When he completely let go of me, I widened my eyes at him in anger with my bloodshot eyes and pointed a finger at him, "You know NOTHING about me. I'm not the girl you think me to be Mr. Armanio! So what if it was me in that picture? That is none of your FRICKIN' business Mr. Armanio. Outside work, I do whatever I want. So what if I'm your P.A? Just because I work under you doesn't mean I'm a freaking actress! Just because I gained this job, I won't lose my freedom or dignity by YOU!"

I was breathing heavily and he was flabbergasted. His jaw was clenched and he looked like he was going to kill me.

"What? You'll fire me? You don't have to! I will resign myself."

I called Mr. Armanio and told him about my resignation.

"Oh dear! Come to London. We're looking for personal assistants."

"All the way to London?"

"You'll love it here dear."

"I'll think about it sir, thank you so much."

"No problem, with your help Armanio Enterprises has been flourishing."

"Oh it's not me sir."

"Of course it is! I'll be waiting for you in London."

"Thank you." The line went dead.

I went to my desk and quickly wrote up my resignation letter. I went back into his office and handed it to him.

I left the office, bid my farewell to Natalie and headed home.

I had a lot of thinking to do. I had no close relatives in London. I don't even know anything about London and I don't know British English! I have to find an apartment too.

I called my mom and asked her for her opinion. She told me to explore the world. I've always felt like going to London, I'm not gonna lie there.

Just then, a light bulb glowed in my head. I'm going to give Travis a surprise visit! I booked flight tickets to California for tomorrow morning.

I'm just so excited to meet him! I decided to forgive him after our previous fight. I drifted off to sleep and couldn't help, but have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that something is going to happen tomorrow. That includes Travis and Tulia. I have to prepare myself mentally for the worst.

I started packing my stuff just for 2 days. I need to know more about London. I drifted off to sleep, awaiting for the next day to meet Travis.

I woke up at 5:00 a.m. I brushed my teeth, ate scrambled eggs, bathed and browsed through my phone. My flight was at 9:00 a.m. So, no need to rush. I wore a white off shoulder floral top with skinny jeans. I left my hair and secured it with a georgette headband.

I grabbed my suitcase and headed to the airport. I hailed a taxi because I obviously couldn't drive there in my car. Pssh! I mean who even does that? Okay, maybe I did that ONE time. That resulted in me searching for my car for a whole month.

The taxi ride was not that long. I reached the airport in about half an hour. I paid the taxi driver and went through the processes to board my plane.

I sat in my seat and a guy sat beside me. I looked to the side to see....Michael?? (The guy who took her for a coffee on her first conference meeting)

I looked at him and his hair was in a frenzy, "Michael?! What are YOU doing here?"

"Aw, don't you want me to be here?"

I hit him on his shoulder and said, "It's not that. Don't you have a private jet or something? Moreover, shouldn't you be in first class?"

"My private jet is under repair and I was in a rush. I just bought the last available ticket. I was lucky I got it. I actually have a meeting in Cali."

"Oh." That was all I could say.

"So how's that boss of yours?"

"Good." I mumbled, not wanting to talk about it.

There was all small talk after that. Finally the plane touched land.

"Well, it was nice flying with you Mr. Fernando."

"What?? I thought we were making progress. You called me Michael."

I smiled. He said, "It's not Mr. Fernando to you. It's either Michael or Fernando."

I chuckled and said, "Of course Michael."

He seemed to be in a rush, so he invited me to dinner and we both parted ways. The smile I had didn't leave my face.

I quickly called a taxi and told him the address to Travis's apartment. My head was out of the window and I was inhaling the California air.

My heart stopped when....
