Everyone in the pack knew I was in love with the Alpha, Luther Pauley. I had done whatever it took to win him over, even sneaking into his bed more than once. When I turned 18, the pack's seer predicted that Luther was my destined mate. But I refused the marking ceremony and chose to leave the pack instead. Luther looked stunned as he blocked my way out. "If you walk away now, don't ever come back." No one in the pack believed I would really go. They were even making bets about how soon I'd crawl back. "I'm calling three days!" "You're giving her too much credit. I'll wager a bottle of healing tonic that she'll be running back here in three minutes!" I ignored them and went straight to Sawyer Dunn, the Alpha of Graymoon Pack. This time, I swore I would never look back again.

Chapter 1

In my previous life, I had loved Luther Pauley with my entire being.

After coming of age, I followed the seer's guidance, married him, and helped him rise to become the Alpha King.

But when I needed him to save me, he left me alone and slept with Elise Garraway instead.

When chaos broke out in the pack, I scolded Elise, who had started it. For that, Luther punished me brutally, claiming I was jealous.

Later, when I took a silver blade for him and lost my wolf, he tossed away my healing herbs and fed them to Elise's dog instead.

"You can't shift anymore. Using the herbs on you is a waste. Might as well save Elise's precious pet."

I swallowed my anger and despair until I finally died in pain.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day the seer made the prophecy.

The seer laid her hands on the crystal orb, her face calm and sure. "You'll marry an Alpha and help him become the Alpha King."

I stared at the glowing crystal ball and couldn't help laughing to myself.

Luther was an Alpha. But so was Sawyer Dunn of Graymoon Pack. The seer only said I'd marry an Alpha, not that it had to be Luther.

Just thinking of Sawyer brought tears to my eyes. When I had been a rogue, he had saved me three times from other nasty rogues.

After I died, he even traveled all the way to Darkfang Pack to attend my funeral.

And after the funeral, heartbroken, he threw himself off a cliff.

In my past life, he had truly loved me. But when he realized my heart belonged to Luther, he chose to protect me silently instead.

In this life, I refused to waste his love again.

As soon as I stepped out of the seer's hut, Luther's men blocked my way.

"Let me guess," one of them snickered. "You're gonna say the seer matched you with our Alpha, right?"

"Do we even need to guess? With how obsessed she is with Luther, she'd claim it was even if it wasn't him."

They laughed, not caring at all that I was standing right there.

I just stared back at them coldly, saying nothing.

"Enough," another said. "Luther has called a meeting. We'll find out who he's chosen as Luna soon enough."

"Whoever he picks, I'm sure it won't be a former rogue like her."

They shoved their way into the wolves' council room. I followed, but one of them kicked me out.

The leader shot me a sneer. "You'll never be his mate. Don't even bother attending."

"Let her in." A deep, magnetic voice cut through the noise. It was Luther.

When I looked up, our eyes met. Seeing the disgust in his stare, I instantly knew he had been reborn, too.

Luther glanced at Elise, then at me. "Lilith, the seer said that if I marry you, I'll become the Alpha King. For the pack's future, I'll take you as my wife. But I don't love you. The position of Luna and even Luna Queen will always belong to the woman I truly love."

He turned to Elise Garraway, his gaze filled with love and warmth.

Then he looked at me again, and the ice in his stare cut straight through my skin.

My nails dug into my palms, pulling me back to my senses.

I tilted my head up and forced a smile. "Even if you wanna marry me, that doesn't mean I share the sentiment. Give me three days to think about it."

My words left them stunned. The wolves who'd mocked me looked confused for a moment, then their faces twisted into even more scorn.

"She's bending over backward to catch Luther's eye every day. Now she's playing hard to get? Pathetic."

Luther didn't move. He just stared at me, his eyes full of doubt.

"Everyone in the pack knows you're in love with me. I agreed to marry you, and now you're hesitating? What game are you playing?"
