CHAPTER 2.

OLIVIA'S POV.

Samantha's eyes crinkled into a radiant smile for a moment, but as soon as she noticed my gaze, her expression shifted to a sharp frown. She gently helped me off the floor, and I settled onto the bed while she caressed my back softly.

“It’s okay, sis. Daddy is just angry that your naked pictures are all over the internet,” she said solemnly.

I paused my crying and took a deep breath. “How did my pictures get out into the world? That’s my privacy, Sam.”

Samantha cradled my head, rubbing my back gently. “Daddy is just upset. Maybe you should see him later while I help you talk to Lucas.”

“He seems to be very disappointed in you,” she added.

“How did this even happen, sis? You should have been more careful. If you wanted to be with someone else, you could have told me, and I would have looked out for you.”

I turned to her, taking her hands in mine and fixing my tear-filled eyes on her. “Please help me tell Lucas it isn’t true. Everything he saw online is a lie. I’m being set up by someone.”

Samantha shook her head. “I understand, sis. You know I always have your back. Lucas is angry and has refused to talk to anyone, but I’ll try to tell him the truth.”

“You don’t need to worry about him. All you need to do now is take a shower; you smell a mess,” she added before leaving.

I nodded, feeling grateful that Samantha was willing to help me. I wasn’t sure I could face Lucas right now. Throughout our years of dating, I had never seen him with another woman or heard rumors of him cheating. He had always been faithful and loyal to our love.

In most relationships, it’s usually the man who ends up cheating, but it felt shameful that I was the one who had betrayed my fiancé. Cheating was one thing, but not knowing when or with whom I had cheated was another entirely.

Once Samantha left, I let my tears roll down my cheeks as my chest tightened with pain. Someone was trying to set me up, but my father didn’t seem to see it. I couldn’t really blame him for being disappointed,I knew he had invested his heart and soul into building this empire, and now his daughter’s naked pictures were all over the internet.

Minutes later, the stranger walked out of the bathroom fully dressed. Fortunately, he didn't bother to speak to me,he just walked out as if he hadn’t just sabotaged my entire career and family reputation. I sat still, sobbing, unable to ask how he had gotten into my room. My room was always locked, and the only person with a spare key was Lucas.

Later that day, I took a bath and sat alone in my room, refusing to go outside. I wasn't ready to face the public scrutiny that came with being famous for my nudes. I clenched my teeth, trying to endure the pain that gripped my chest. I tossed my phone aside, fully aware that I didn’t want to see what the news had to say.

After a while, I realized that sitting idle wouldn’t do me any favors, so I decided to go to Lucas myself. Maybe Samantha hadn’t been able to convince him of my innocence, so I would go directly.

About ten minutes later, I arrived at his room using the elevator, hoping to avoid being seen. Not wanting to make a sound, I skipped the doorbell and used his passcode instead.

As soon as I entered, my brows raised in curiosity at the sight of a pink stiletto by the door. Does he have company? I thought, pulling off my slippers to join them.

I hesitated at the sight of feminine clothing strewn across his couch—a cropped pink top and a blue blazer. My brows knitted together as I recognized the familiar clothes; those were what Samantha had been wearing earlier when she walked into my room with Dad.

I knew Samantha was supposed to be here, but why were her clothes scattered on the floor? Was she…? I shoved the thoughts aside, my heart racing as I made my way toward the bedroom.

Part of my brain analyzed the situation, but I chose to ignore my instincts. I wanted to believe that Samantha had come to help me convince my fiancé that everything he saw online was pure rubbish. Maybe something had happened to her dress, or perhaps she needed to change or use the bathroom. But deep down, I knew she had her own room, and if she needed anything, she should have come to me, not Lucas.

As I got closer, I heard Samantha's laughter drifting through the half-open bedroom door.

“Oh my God, Lucas, you need to hear her begging our father that she’s innocent!”

“Sam sam, please please explain to Lucas that somebody is trying to set me up.” Samantha continued, mimicking my cracked voice.

Just as I expected, Lucas joined in the laughter, and my chest tightened.

“She is so naive. I can't deal with her. Did you see how quickly she drank that drugged drink?” Lucas said, and my whole world crumbled down at my feet. I stumbled back, clutching the wall for support.

Hearing those words from them was one thing, but knowing that Samantha had come in there and pretended not to know anything was even worse. Seeing them naked and entwined with each other shattered what was left of my heart.

My breath caught in my throat as the realization hit me: all those times I asked Samantha to look after my fiancé, she was betraying me and fucking him. They had drugged me and taken pictures of me. The sting of betrayal cut deep. Tears blurred my vision as I backed away, racing to confront my father. I couldn’t let them get away with this.

But when I reached the door, I couldn’t believe my card was declined. The officers escorted me out, and I fought back tears as I packed my bags. I hated when people felt pity for me, so I tried my best to hold it together. I had less than thirty minutes to vacate the hotel room meant for the Brown family.

This meant only one thing: I had been disowned. I was no longer part of the Brown family. My father wouldn’t even listen to me or hear how my supposed fiancé and sister had betrayed me. Now, I was sure they were happily watching as I was kicked out of the family.

Minutes later, I finished packing my bags. When I opened the door, I was met by two hefty guards standing ready to escort me outside, like an outcast being thrown from her kingdom. A tight feeling clutched at my chest, but I kept my chin up as we stepped into the elevator.

Inside, I heard the host announce, “Welcome to the stage, the new heiress of the Brown Group… Samantha Brown!” At that moment, I allowed myself to break down, embracing the grief that accompanies loss. I had lost everything—my family, my fiancé, and now my position. Samantha had taken it all from me.

I cried openly in the elevator, not caring that the guards stood beside me. I had prepared my whole life for that role, and now Lucas and Samantha had snatched it away as if I had never worked for it.

Once outside, I turned the ignition of my car, contemplating where to go. I couldn’t return home,I knew I would also be banned from there, too. I wanted to avoid anything that reminded me of them, including my father.

I drove on, tears blurring my vision, until I collided with another vehicle. The screeching of tires and the sickening thud snapped me back to reality. My car swerved violently, and before I could hit the brakes, it crashed into the Audi Q8 in front of me.

CHAPTER 36OLIVIA By the time I was done enjoying my slice of cake, everyone had gone back to work. I walked out and saw Gab packing up some glasses, so I quickly joined her.“Oh,” she chuckled. “Thank you, dear. You didn't need to; it's your day, and you're supposed to enjoy it.”Urgh. The birthday drama again? I can't even catch a break at this point. I can’t tell her that it isn’t my birthday. I don’t think Williams did the same thing; I think he just told them to go back to work since we were done with the celebrations. So I’d just keep quiet and act like it is actually my birthday.I helped her carry the glasses to the other side of the firm before the cleaning ladies came to collect them from us. We both proceeded to wash our hands in the bathroom. I glanced at her from time to time as we washed our hands. I couldn’t help but admire her—her fashion sense, her style, and what she has achieved in the judicial world. She is such a stunning woma

CHAPTER 36WILLIAMS My breath hitched, and the smile on my face quickly faded.Today is not her birthday? That has to be some twenty-first-century joke. I cross-checked the date like four times before I started making any preparations. What the hell is she talking about?“What do you mean today isn’t your birthday?” I asked, confusion twisting in my voice. “Don’t tell me you forgot your own birthday!”It’s okay to be ambitious and hardworking, but you should also love yourself and take care of yourself. Put yourself first. Birthdays only come once a year, so why should you have forgotten about yours, huh?She heaved a deep sigh and dropped the flowers and watch on the table. Looking at her, I felt a surge of frustration and confusion at the same time.“Williams, I understand your frustration, but I'm no dummy. I know my date of birth off the top of my head to tell you that today isn’t my birthday.”“I’m equally shocked t

CHAPTER 34WILLIAMS I quickly dashed into the bathroom and took my bath. In a couple of minutes, I was done, dressed, and headed downstairs where the car was waiting for me. Once inside, my driver took me straight to the firm. Sitting in the car, I checked the time; it was almost ten in the morning. A small smile crept onto my lips. Yes, I was early. I wanted to supervise everything to ensure it was just right before she arrived. I didn’t want this to go awry. I wanted it to be perfect so she could be swept off her feet.In a couple of minutes, my car pulled into the firm’s compound, and the engine was turned off. I stepped out and made my way inside quickly. Just as I expected, some of the staff weren’t there yet. The ones who were at work were the workaholics who hated going home or having a little time to themselves. Each time they had a moment to themselves, they would surely come back to the firm and immerse themselves in work. I guess that was what made them

CHAPTER 32 WILLIAMS My ringtone blared through, and my eyes stirred open. It was still seven in the morning. Who the hell would be calling another person this early? I assumed it must have been an emergency, so I reached for my phone. I grabbed it from the other end of the bed where I had dropped it last night. I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the sleep so I could see clearly. Once I did, I realized it was one of my security staff at the firm buzzing my phone this early. I let out a deep sigh before swiping up to answer the call.It had better be because the firm is burning to the ground that he called me for. Anything less than that, I might have his ass fired for disturbing my sleep."What the fuck is it, Shaw? Don’t you fucking look at the damn time to see it isn’t convenient to call anyone at this hour?” I snapped as soon as I picked up the call."I'm really sorry, sir, but I called your PA, Gabrielle, and she didn't pick up, so I had to

CHAPTER 32 OLIVIA “Hey, you look oddly familiar. Did you come from Houston?” A six-foot biker walked up to me and asked. I shook my head, disapproving of him.“Oh, looks like she doesn't speak. What a waste of pussy, brother,” he teased, and a whole lot of them burst out laughing. My grip on my drink tightened, but I just swallowed and forced a smile at the man. I had nothing to say to them right now until I watched them all get locked up behind bars for their crimes. I had been sitting here for a couple of hours now, and I had seen a lot of crazy things happen. In just a few hours, I had seen the bikers have a race. The race was a little exciting since I had never seen anything like it. They raced, and some of them bet their money on who would win. It was quite thrilling, except for the fact that I heard some of the riders boast that they took different routes through some person’s house just to make it back early and win the prize. The most annoying of

CHAPTER 31WILLIAMS "Come on, guys, let's leave this talk of work. I came here to have a good time, not to speculate about work. If I wanted anything about work, then I would have just stayed back at my office and buried my head deep in it," I said, walking away to grab a cup of wine.Once I got there, I greeted the bartender, and she poured me a shot. I downed it immediately and asked for two more. I just wanted something to take my mind off Olivia for a moment. After that, I picked up my phone again and noticed she had sent me her location. I heaved a deep sigh before swinging my phone back into my pocket. Right now, I felt a little relieved. I knew her location, and if any of those motherfuckers touched her, they'd have me to contend with.I moved and joined the boys playing soccer tennis. We played for several minutes, with Lucas being too hard on himself. Olivia must have hurt his feelings badly when she took back the Smith case from him. There were n

  • You lost me, Now you'll lose everything.    Who?

CHAPTER 30WILLIAMS I watched her leave my office, but my heart was still pounding in my chest. I'm not sure this is the right decision, but Olivia is just so stubborn. She didn't want me to go, and I know no amount of convincing would make her change her mind. She had made up her mind even before informing me, but right now, I'm almost having a heart attack thinking those motherfuckers might put their hands on her. They might just try to touch her. Those men are animals; most of them were groomed to be beasts and are very uncultured. They don't treat their women right. I've heard crazy tales about how they assault women and rape them. A lot of people said the allegations were baseless, but I know there’s no fire without smoke. If the rumors spread like wildfire, then they must have done something like that before. It's not that far-fetched for people who bathe in crime every day. The truth is, I hate bikers. I hate anything that has to do with them. I don't w

  • You lost me, Now you'll lose everything.    I will go with you

CHAPTER 29OLIVIA "I'm going with you," he pushed his chair back, standing up while I just watched. There was no way he was going to the biker's club with me. Once he went there, he would ruin all my plans. From the information I had gathered, bikers flock more to women who come to the club without any other partner. They conclude you must be single, and then they shoot their shots. But when you come there with a man, the majority of them would let you go and not speak to you. The ones who would engage would likely be the ones who disregard their morals and rules—probably the irresponsible ones. And if someone like Williams decided to go with me in his suit, along with all his expensive watches and shoes, he’d grab all the attention, and my going there would be ruined entirely. Every biker would want to talk with him to see why someone as rich as he is came to that biker's neighborhood. I can't take the risk. Most bikers are honest, but this one is far from it. The

  • You lost me, Now you'll lose everything.    Tit for tat

CHAPTER 27 OLIVIA I woke up at seven to multiple calls from Williams during the night. At first, I contemplated that it might be an emergency or something similar, but it was too late. It was beyond working hours, so I decided not to call back; I was going to see him at work anyway. Scrambling out of bed, I made a pit stop in the bathroom and took a quick shower before dressing up. I knew I was running late, but I didn’t care at this point. I had a lot I was working on for the case regarding the Smiths. That case was not just big; it was deep. I had stayed up all night trying to gather names of all the families in town whose kids might have been abused. I needed concrete evidence to pin those MC gang members down. The state district was covering them up and not turning them over to the appropriate authorities. Any missteps right now would reveal our hand, and I didn’t want that. I didn’t want them to see me coming, and I didn’t want the state district to even know the case was unde
