Chapter 2-Speed Dating

Chapter 2

Renee’s POV

“Carolyn, I have tits I want to show them off,” Rachel screams and stomps her foot.

“Yes, we all know you have tits.  We can see them just fine in this dress,” Carolyn holds up a scarlet dress with a straight neckline.

“I look like a nun,” Rachel snarls.  “I want a sweetheart neckline that contours my body to my hips then flairs out.”

Carolyn rolls her eyes.  “No.  You will wear this one and like it.”

“Why do you insist on hiding my body?  The goddess made a work of art, we should show off her efforts.”

I giggle at that one as the hair stylist finishes.  “I mean she is not wrong.”

Carolyn gives me a hard look and I giggle again.  “No comments from the peanut gallery.”

“We have done this before,” I start laughing.

“Prom,” Carolyn and Rachel answer together.

I laugh as I remember, they have always done this.  Carolyn and Rachel fight like mother and daughter, but deep down we all know Carolyn would take a bullet for either of us.

My wolf is laughing too.  Ever heard a wolf laugh, it’s raspy and heavy.

Ro- Rachel and Carolyn are so funny.  Carolyn is going to whine until she get her way.  A 90 minute wolf run says Rachel is going to cut that neckline before you all walk in. 

Me- What do I get if I win?

Ro- You don’t have to shift.

I take in a deep breath.  Shifting has never been easy for me.  Ro is huge, larger than most female wolves.  Transitioning to such a large creature when I myself am  not that large has always been painful. 

“Are you listening to me at all?” Rachel shakes her hand in front of my face. 

“Nope,” I answer honestly. 

“You and Ro,” Rachel rolls her eyes.  “Do you think the Alpha from New York Enzo will be here?”

I close my eyes to remember the guest list.  His name was there.

“Yes, he is seated at table 3 with Pascal and Martinez,” I say with a smile.

“Can you not go after him?  Enzo is the one I want,” Rachel looks sad to even ask. “I feel something pulling me to him.  Like if I don’t have him soon, I’ll just die.  He was amazing the night we spent together when I was 20.  I don’t know why I didn’t just chose him then.”

“I do not want to live in a city!” I declare with a laugh.  “I want someone from a country pack.”

Rachel throws her arms around me.  “Thank you!”

“It’s time,” Carolyn tells us and walks us out to the door. 

“Carolyn, you can go ahead,” Rachel smiles.

“No way in hell.  I’m standing right here and walking in behind you.  You are not cutting that dress!” Carolyn stares into Rachel’s eyes. 

I can’t help but laugh.  Rachel huffs and the doors open.  Daddy has really gone all out.  The hall is lit by soft lights from above and candles below.  Every suitor is standing creating a gullet for us to walk down. 

Rachel and I both grab for the other’s hand.  We walk down the line.  Rachel looks, her gaze on the dark, brooding Alpha Enzo.  I look around.

I see a younger man, likely got here by the skin of his teeth watching me closely.  I smile and nod at him, he blushes making me giggle.  Then my heart skips a beat.  Brown suit, cow boy hat, and cowboy boots.  I know him.

Alpha Tristian Calloway, Big Sky Pack in Montana.  Almost 40,000 acres of land in both the US and Canada.  Over 3000 pack members.  Cattle rancher, farmer, owns four retreats for the rich and famous.  And his baby blue eyes are staring right at me.

“Welcome to the Royal Mating Ball,” Daddy announces and everyone turns to look at him, except Tristan. 

Tristan is still staring right at me.  I lower my eyes, but notice his smile.

“The Royal Pack is pleased you all could be here.  We invite you all to meet my daughters and eat.  The girls will join each table together for introductions.  You can ask them to dance after dinner.”

Thanks Daddy! 

Ro- Speed Dating at a Royal Ball.  So dignified! Just go to Tristian’s Table or that young Alpha.  He had kind eyes.  You should talk to him.  He makes me feel things.

I giggle.

“Seriously you and Ro talk to each other too much,” Rachel rebukes me as she drags me toward table 3.

“We are supposed to start at one,” I remind her and drag her over.  “Stop acting like you are in heat!  Make him watch you.”

Rachel’s smile brightens.  “Yes, so smart.  I love you!”

As we sit at table one I can’t but notice Alpha Tristian staring at me from Table 4.  Rachel notices too. 

She giggles behind her hand as we try to be polite to the Alphas in front of us.  We work tables 1 and 2.  Rachel’s pulse starts racing when we sit down at table 3.

“Alpha Enzo,” Rachel lowers her eyes and I almost burst out laughing.

Ro- That younger Alpha is staring at us again.  Table 6.

Me- I’ve seen him.  He is kinda cute.

Ro- Alpha Tristian is getting impatient.  But the younger one is being polite and talking to everyone.  Why do I like him so much?

“Excuse me, Alphas,” I stand up and nod to the other two Alphas. 

Anyone can see Alpha Enzo has won Rachel.  I stop at the other tables and smile to everyone.  I thank everyone for coming. 

The young Alpha at Table 6 stands when I approach.

“Alpha Dexter Bryant, Hunter’s Moon,” The young Alpha holds out his hand.

“Renee,” I smile and shake his hand.  I turn to the other Alphas at the table.  “Thank you all for coming today.  My sister and I have made our choices.  Please enjoy the food and music.  Several she-wolves are here as well.  My you all find your mates.”

I smile and talk straight to Tristan. 

Ro-When he touched us…Dexter.  I will remember him.

Me-Tristian Calloway. 

Ro-Yeah, more our age.  Tristian.

“I was wondering when you were going to finally acknowledge it,” Tristan pulls me close.  “It’s you and me forever.”

He seals it with a kiss.
