Chapter 2

Author: Wooden Blade
Selena took Leo's hand gently, her beautiful face still streaked with tears. Anyone would have pitied her at first sight.

"I'm fine now. Please don't do this to Lorraine. She's just being cheeky. I'm sure she still has a kind heart."

Leo remained stone-faced, his tone now icy. "Cheeky? She's acting spoiled because we've pampered her too much in the past! She thinks she can do whatever she wants just because she's our little sister! If we don't teach her a lesson, her arrogant nature will get out of control!"

Luke wore a disappointed look as well. "You don't have to defend her. Her jealousy almost killed you, Selena. How could we easily let her off the hook?"

Ryan lifted Selena's hand. Although she was only mildly poisoned, he could already see short and coarse fur poking out of her pores. At the moment, her hand was completely coated in fur.

"Does it hurt a lot?" He caressed Selena's hand, his heart breaking for her.

Selena shook her head while forcing out a smile. In reality, it looked more like a grimace. She excelled at acting as if she were enduring immense pain.

"It doesn't hurt anymore… but I look ugly, don't I?"

Leo comforted her softly, "No way. You'll forever be the most beautiful she-wolf to me no matter what you look like."

Anger coursed through Luke's veins at that moment. "Damn that Lorraine! She knew you were terrified of pain the most, yet she still hurt you like this! Not only did she not take the initiative to come over and apologize to you, but she also rejected my mind link! She really is too arrogant!

"This is all your fault for pampering her! Just look at how spoiled she is right now!"

Leo turned to look at Rupert. "Capture her and bring her back. We must appease Selena even if it means cutting off her wolf's limbs."

Both Luke and Ryan nodded in agreement. "I'd like to see which is tougher—her stubbornness or our fists!"

Ryan added, "Also, you should bring the cake over. The only way to teach that unrepentant brat is to give her a taste of her own medicine! Let her experience what it feels like to be poisoned by wolfsbane!"

My brothers didn't care about the fact that I was their biological sister. They were willing to punish me to that extent after hearing an outsider's one-sided story.

Rage and resentment surged into my heart. They had no idea how Selena plotted against me behind their backs.

She often put on a pitiful and aggrieved front. After she hurt herself, she'd secretly pin the blame on me. When the incident was over, she'd pretend to reflect on herself by claiming that it was just a misunderstanding.

Selena was the one who had pleaded with me to bake her a cake for her birthday. She wanted to clear all misunderstandings with me and swore to become my sister forever.

Her tone was very sincere, which softened my heart. That was why I gave her another chance.

Who would've thought that she'd secretly mix wolfsbane into the ingredients?

If this were to happen in the past, Leo, who was known to be wise, would definitely remember that procuring wolfsbane was no easy feat. One could either obtain it via special transactions or the black market.

I had nothing under my name. What could I possibly use to trade for wolfsbane?

Besides, I knew very well that my brothers cared about Selena a great deal. There was no way I'd be that foolish to poison the cake, which led to them discovering the poison's existence.

But Leo had always been biased toward Selena. He'd still believe her lies despite the number of illogical flaws.

I just gazed at Ryan coldly. In the past, I'd feel sorrowful, but now, all that was left was numbness in my heart.

Soon, the pallid Rupert came rushing home.

"She's gone!"

Both Luke and Ryan shot up to their feet instantly, fury apparent on their faces.

"That damned brat is determined to keep headbutting us to the very end, huh? She thinks we don't have the courage to do anything to her! That's why she's disrespecting us to this extent!"

"We should really deal with that temper of hers!"

Selena grabbed their hands feebly. "Please don't be like that! I'm still the outsider at the end of the day! Please don't ruin your relationship with her because of me!"

Leo merely huffed coldly. He replied darkly, "No sister of mine is this vile and cruel. She must get down on her knees and apologize to Selena if she still thinks of us as family. Otherwise, she'd better not blame us for being heartless.

"Come. Let's go to the silver mine."

At first, the witch refused to give up any information. But she finally spat out the truth after failing to endure my brothers' harsh interrogation.Terrified, she pointed at Selena. "It's her! She was the one who instructed me to sever the mind link between you and your sister! She was also the one who took the silver powder from me!"Your sister, Lorraine, is already dead! She died in this very mine!"Panic overcame Selena. She tried to defend herself. "You evil woman! I don't even know you! Why did you frame me instead?"The witch covered her bruised face. "You've always harbored malicious intentions from the start because you wanted to frame Lorraine. You kept visiting me for more tips on how to drive a wedge between her and her brothers so that you could replace her and have her brothers' love all to yourself!"For example, Selena laced the cake with wolfsbane on purpose and framed me for wanting to poison her. Another example would be Selena burning herself before claiming

Selena had no idea what happened to the trio. Still, she had a bad feeling about it.Ryan's tone became venomous. "But it wasn't Lorraine—it was Selena."Leo and the others turned to glare at Selena simultaneously. Ryan was completely filled with guilt at the moment. "We… We misunderstood Lorraine. This has nothing to do with her…"Where's Lorraine? Have you found her yet?"The trio found it difficult to tell Ryan the truth."I'm asking you all a question here! Do you have any news on her? I must apologize to her!"Ryan had always been an introverted werewolf. His only pastime involved gathering beautiful snake specimens. There was once when I had gotten bitten no less than 20 times just to capture a tropical snake that had a unique appearance for him.The snake was still caged up in my room, seeing as I had yet to find an opportunity to give it to Ryan. He'd be so elated that he couldn't sleep at all."What happened to Lorraine? Just hurry up and tell me already! What happen

Having appeared all of a sudden, Selena began making her way toward Leo."Leo, how could you do this to—"A loud slap rang out in the mine."Shut up! I don't want to see you right now!"Selena cradled her cheek as fresh tears rolled down her face. This time, she was crying for real.Leo didn't hold back in that slap. Right now, her cheek was all red and swollen. She shrank away from Leo before retreating to the wall. "Tell me if I did something wrong. If you don't want to see me ever again, I can leave right now."But please… don't act like this, okay? I'm very worried about you…"This time, no one cared about Selena's pitiful act."Get lost! Don't touch those things!"Leo shoved the cleaners away before sinking down to his knees. My clothes were reduced to a pile of charred remains. Even my family crest was completely warped and blackened from the fire.As Leo picked up my crest, he could feel his hands shaking terribly. After placing the crest onto his palm, he kept straig

At the moment, Leo wore a stormy expression. The only difference was that the brutal and dark glint in his eyes had already disappeared. Now, he looked dazed. He just stared at a certain point. Suddenly, he looked like he just recalled something."Lorraine…"Confused, Selena tried to place her hand on Leo's shoulder. But he swatted her hand away forcefully before she could touch him."H-How could I have forgotten all that…" he murmured.Precisely. How could he have forgotten that? How could he have forgotten the way I had rushed to the front lines with him with no regard for the looming danger? How I had rushed before him and fought for our pack's survival? No matter how dire the situation was, I never abandoned him. I'd protect and defend him with my life."Leo, this pack can still go on without me, but it can't survive without you. It's my utmost honor to fight for you."Tears flowed down Leo's cheeks uncontrollably. His expression soon contorted into one of pain. It was t

Selena covered her nose and mouth, discomfort evident on her face. She pretended to feel ill after inhaling the fumes.Alarmed, Leo scooped her into his arms and rushed out of the mine. Luke and the others followed suit."Damn that Lorraine! She still refuses to spare you even after escaping from this place! She sure is malicious!"Then, Leo summoned his guards and ordered them to search for me in all the places that I might go. "If she dares to resist, do everything in your power to drag her back, even if it means breaking her bones by force."Leo rubbed his hands eagerly. He couldn't wait to make my life hell after I was brought back to him.I just chuckled bitterly at the sight. Leo must have forgotten.Yeah. He must have completely forgotten those years when we fought to protect our home and ensured our survival. Back then, I had followed him. I did everything for him and rushed to the front lines with him. No matter how dire the situation was, I would never abandon him,

My corpse was already corroded into a pile of blood and bones. What was left of me had already soaked through the earth, thus disappearing from the pit. Other than the rocks and the ropes that once bound me, my clothes, as well as an iron crest, were left on the ground. The crest I wore was the family crest. The logo, signifying the five wolves of the Wilde family, was engraved on the crest. When a pack member died, the other pack members would take turns wearing their crest. It was their way of remembering the dead forever.A careful look at the clothes would show tiny pieces of glass, stained with a bluish-green liquid, stuck to them.I still held onto a trace of hope that my brothers could uncover the truth. I hoped that they could believe me just this once.At least, it would prove that they still cared about me.Unfortunately, reality just had to snuff out my last bit of hope.Leo went pale. "Shit! She actually escaped from the mine!"Luke and Ryan, on the other hand, coul
