Three years later~

"Mummy, I want to stay here." She whined, pouting her small red lips. Her deep blue eyes shimmered with rising tears and her head bowed in sadness.

I sighed, looking down at the little girl next to me. Crouching down to meet her gaze, I cupped her chubby cheeks in my hands and smiled. "Honey, I know and I understand how you feel."

Yet another sigh drew from my mouth as my eyes looked over our mansion. Looking back at her, I reached for her tiny hands and held them in mine. "Honestly I feel the same way too, I don't want to leave."

Returning to New York after three years made me feel so anxious. My heart tightened whenever I thought about it but I just had to do it for the sake of business.

My past, my fears, everything was still there, waiting for me.

"Then let's stay!" She insisted, staring pleadingly into my eyes.

"My princess, we have to go. You know I already told you that mummy has work to do there but I promise you this, it won't take long at all. We'll be back before you even know it. Trust me."

She nodded her head, reluctantly though, finally giving in. We had had this conversation so many times that I could not remember the number. I pulled her into my arms and hugged her.

Bringing myself to my feet, I held out my hand for her. "Come on, we have a flight to catch."

She wrapped her small hands around my fingers. We walked over to my car and I strapped her in her baby seat.

"We need to get to the airport quickly." I ordered my driver, fastening my own seatbelt.

He nodded his head in response and put the car in ignition.

The screen of my phone lit up with a call and a smile spread across my face as I saw the name. "Hey Jessy,"

"Girl! I am so sorry I couldn't see you off to the airport. I know you must be feeling so anxious right now but you have nothing to worry about! Oh I am so excited! I have only read about comebacks like this in novels!" She squealed.

I couldn't hold back a chuckle. "Calm down and breathe Jessy, besides, this isn't a comeback, it's just... Business."

"Business? Pff! Oh please! It is a comeback alright! You are returning to the city you escaped from as a big shot stylist! Your designs rule the world! Do you not know that?"

I rolled my eyes. "You are too much."

She broke out in a chuckle. "By the way... I just want you to be careful, our past always sneaks up on us when we least expect it."

My eyes turned to look at Gemma, my daughter, she had her eyes on the screen of her tab. I had always lived with a fragment of my past, it never left me, but she was the only thing that kept me going, that made me struggle and helped me reach where I was today.

"I'll be fine."

***

The hall was lit up with beautiful fluorescent lights, servers dressed nearly in white and black swayed around with trays in their hands. Everything was just to perfection, the way I had wanted it to be.

New York was decided to host my flagship store even though I wanted to avoid returning here. But since it could not be helped, I would make it into the best it could be.

I had never felt prettier, a white shimmering dress hugged my curves tightly, barely holding on to my shoulders. The bust revealed just about enough skin and the slit on the right side, reaching all the way to my thigh, made it easier to walk.

My brunette hair, always trapped in a bun, was finally free to fall over my shoulders and I adorned my face with just about enough make up. It was my night and I planned to own it.

Diamonds had always interested me, no other reason for having a diamond purse, jewelry and shoes.

No one knew who I was, though I got a few stares from other guests, but they all assumed I was just another flamboyantly dressed guest.

I decided to get some fresh air before the main event would begin, but the sound of a familiar voice kept me hooked to the spot.

Turning my head to the side, there she was, none other than Ella, dressed flamboyantly in a body hugging dress. Then our eyes met.

She stood frozen for a few seconds, eyes widened like she had just seen a ghost. But a smile relaxed her face as she walked towards me. "Well who do we have here? What the hell do you think you are doing here? Dressed like that..." Her eyes assessed my body. "Where did you even get such clothes? Did you steal them to pretend like you fit in here?

"A security guard obviously needs to be fired for letting such a filthy thing inside here." She raised her voice, calling the attention of the other guests.

I felt my chest tighten in anger but I refused to give her the satisfaction of a reaction. Especially not now that the crowd had silenced down.

"Not so good to see you too, Ella." I responded, a calm smile resting on my face.

She scoffed. "Three fucking years! You disappeared like dust and now you crawl back here? What? Do you need money? Are you here to beg?"

I stared at her in silence, holding back myself.

She felt so belittled and pissed off by my silence, especially since I had a smile on my face. She scoffed a laugh. "I always knew you were a filthy thing. A used product thinking she can make herself look pretty again, you're nothing but a useless ex wife!"

Murmurs of people filled my ears, some snickered while some laughed.

I stood there, refusing to let her get the best of me. But then a voice boomed from behind the crowd, making us all turn our heads. "What exactly is going on here?!"

"Well don't keep him waiting!" Brie exclaimed. I chuckled. "Of course I'll say yes, you're mine anyways, I won't let anyone else have you." We all shared a laugh. I rose to my feet and helped him up as well. "I bought a ring but I think I left it in the car. I should go get it--" A knock on the door cut him off. It was rough and loud like the person was impatient. "Who is there?" Brie asked but got no response. She started for the door but her husband held her hand to stop her. He went on her behalf and when he opened the door, he was shoved out of the way and he fell to the ground with a soft grunt. "Babe!" Brie exclaimed as she rushed to help him up. "Who are you people?! What do you want in my house?!" To my surprise, Jacob came into view from behind the man that had pushed Brie's husband. He noticed me and hurried to me. "Blaire! We need to talk, just please give me a moment." "A moment? You walked into my sister's house and tried to hurt her husband yet you want a mi

THIRD POVElla rose from her feet and began to thrash around like a psycho. "Turn it off! Turn it off! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. She threw the podium off the stage like a mad woman and Jacob simply moved out of the way for her. She ran towards the man that was playing the video and thrashed his laptop. The flickering and shuttering of camera flashes increased rapidly and they immediately typed down on their keyboards. After a moment of letting out her anger, everything blurred before her eyes and she collapsed to the ground. Security team immediately rushed towards her and carried her away. Jacob let out a soft sigh and spoke at the top of his lungs so his words would be carried all through the room. "Today! The engagement between us has been annuled. Even though I am no longer her fiancé, as a concerned friend, I will make sure that Ella gets due treatments at a rehabilitation center to help her and she will be paired with the best psychologist and th

THIRD POVJacob almost dropped to his knees, he felt his knees buckle and his heart rate dropped. He didn't know how to react to this news, so she was his daughter after all. "All this while..." He muttered softly to himself. Ella already knew this so it didn't come as a surprise to her. But what came as a surprise was the face that showed on the screen next. "Hello everyone, my name is Margaret and I am Blaire's mother. Ella as well. When they were young, I made a terrible mistake and that was the fact that I ostracized Blaire because of her father's doings. "It made me so angry that all she always did was ask for her father who left us alone. She was so angry at me like it was my fault. It made me so mad and I took it a little too far. It's too late to say I'm sorry but I am. "I allowed Ella have everything she wanted because she loved me more than her father. She even took Blaire's friends, her positions, and her husband too. THIRD POVElla felt her heart skip a beat as she heard the words of the reporters. Blaire was what? She took a step forward towards Jacob to tell him to ignore the request but he apparently didn't need her say on it. He smiled as he responded before she could get to him. "Sure. Let's use the projector. Can we please dim the lights in the hall?" His order was immediately carried out. Ella's eyes widened in shock. She immediately hurried towards Jacob and whispered in his ear. "We can't do that! Blaire obviously has nothing good to say! Please! Don't be like this!"Jacob took her hand with a smile and led her away from the stage where the projector was facing. He knew that they were still being watched by several sharp eyes. As they left the stage, he squeezed her hand a little too tight that she failed to hold back a whimper. He stood close to her and whispered softly against her ear. "This is all your fault, you brought it upon yourself. Whatever Blaire says, you will have to face

THIRD POVAfter almost drowning her in the bathtub, he stopped and crouched down beside her. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, he whispered softly. "Wash up, make sure you're as clean as possible. We have to announce the annulment of our engagement and let the world know that we chose to go our separate ways mutually. You have two hours to get ready. Don't test my patience."Without another word, he got up and left her alone in the bathroom. Cold, shivering and hurting, Ella broke out in tears. She could not hold back her tears neither could she control her emotions. She never knew this would be what she would be getting herself into when she stole Jacob from her sister. She-- for the first time-- regretted the choices she made in the past. After letting her body soak for about thirty minutes, she got out of the water and went to lay on the bed for another thirty minutes. Jacob was not around. THIRD POVElla struggled to breathe, she clawed at Jacob's hands as she felt her feet lifting off the ground. Jacob laughed. A chilling and eerie laughter. "How long have I been gone that you had sex with two different men? And to make matters worse, one of them is my rival." Her eyes widened like they would pop out of their sockets any time soon. She wanted to wonder where he had heard it but her brain wasn't even functioning properly anymore. Her entire body system had fallen into panic mode and she was afraid she would soon pass out from the lack of air. Her struggles came lesser and lesser until her hands dangled beside her body. Hot tears spilled from her eyes that now threatened to fall close and never open again. Just before she passed out, he tossed her to the ground like a tagged doll and she immediately gasped for air so greedily. She coughed, rasped and wheezed while Jacob just laughed. She had never felt so afraid of him before. Not even when she witnessed him kill a
