LOGINThree years later~
"Mummy, I want to stay here." She whined, pouting her small red lips. Her deep blue eyes shimmered with rising tears and her head bowed in sadness. I sighed, looking down at the little girl next to me. Crouching down to meet her gaze, I cupped her chubby cheeks in my hands and smiled. "Honey, I know and I understand how you feel." Yet another sigh drew from my mouth as my eyes looked over our mansion. Looking back at her, I reached for her tiny hands and held them in mine. "Honestly I feel the same way too, I don't want to leave." Returning to New York after three years made me feel so anxious. My heart tightened whenever I thought about it but I just had to do it for the sake of business. My past, my fears, everything was still there, waiting for me. "Then let's stay!" She insisted, staring pleadingly into my eyes. "My princess, we have to go. You know I already told you that mummy has work to do there but I promise you this, it won't take long at all. We'll be back before you even know it. Trust me." She nodded her head, reluctantly though, finally giving in. We had had this conversation so many times that I could not remember the number. I pulled her into my arms and hugged her. Bringing myself to my feet, I held out my hand for her. "Come on, we have a flight to catch." She wrapped her small hands around my fingers. We walked over to my car and I strapped her in her baby seat. "We need to get to the airport quickly." I ordered my driver, fastening my own seatbelt. He nodded his head in response and put the car in ignition. The screen of my phone lit up with a call and a smile spread across my face as I saw the name. "Hey Jessy," "Girl! I am so sorry I couldn't see you off to the airport. I know you must be feeling so anxious right now but you have nothing to worry about! Oh I am so excited! I have only read about comebacks like this in novels!" She squealed. I couldn't hold back a chuckle. "Calm down and breathe Jessy, besides, this isn't a comeback, it's just... Business." "Business? Pff! Oh please! It is a comeback alright! You are returning to the city you escaped from as a big shot stylist! Your designs rule the world! Do you not know that?" I rolled my eyes. "You are too much." She broke out in a chuckle. "By the way... I just want you to be careful, our past always sneaks up on us when we least expect it." My eyes turned to look at Gemma, my daughter, she had her eyes on the screen of her tab. I had always lived with a fragment of my past, it never left me, but she was the only thing that kept me going, that made me struggle and helped me reach where I was today. "I'll be fine." *** The hall was lit up with beautiful fluorescent lights, servers dressed nearly in white and black swayed around with trays in their hands. Everything was just to perfection, the way I had wanted it to be. New York was decided to host my flagship store even though I wanted to avoid returning here. But since it could not be helped, I would make it into the best it could be. I had never felt prettier, a white shimmering dress hugged my curves tightly, barely holding on to my shoulders. The bust revealed just about enough skin and the slit on the right side, reaching all the way to my thigh, made it easier to walk. My brunette hair, always trapped in a bun, was finally free to fall over my shoulders and I adorned my face with just about enough make up. It was my night and I planned to own it. Diamonds had always interested me, no other reason for having a diamond purse, jewelry and shoes. No one knew who I was, though I got a few stares from other guests, but they all assumed I was just another flamboyantly dressed guest. I decided to get some fresh air before the main event would begin, but the sound of a familiar voice kept me hooked to the spot. Turning my head to the side, there she was, none other than Ella, dressed flamboyantly in a body hugging dress. Then our eyes met. She stood frozen for a few seconds, eyes widened like she had just seen a ghost. But a smile relaxed her face as she walked towards me. "Well who do we have here? What the hell do you think you are doing here? Dressed like that..." Her eyes assessed my body. "Where did you even get such clothes? Did you steal them to pretend like you fit in here? "A security guard obviously needs to be fired for letting such a filthy thing inside here." She raised her voice, calling the attention of the other guests. I felt my chest tighten in anger but I refused to give her the satisfaction of a reaction. Especially not now that the crowd had silenced down. "Not so good to see you too, Ella." I responded, a calm smile resting on my face. She scoffed. "Three fucking years! You disappeared like dust and now you crawl back here? What? Do you need money? Are you here to beg?" I stared at her in silence, holding back myself. She felt so belittled and pissed off by my silence, especially since I had a smile on my face. She scoffed a laugh. "I always knew you were a filthy thing. A used product thinking she can make herself look pretty again, you're nothing but a useless ex wife!" Murmurs of people filled my ears, some snickered while some laughed. I stood there, refusing to let her get the best of me. But then a voice boomed from behind the crowd, making us all turn our heads. "What exactly is going on here?!"THIRD POV Fabian concluded a deal worth billions of dollars, finally. After months of chasing the contract. He thought he'd celebrate by going on early and getting himself and his wife something special to celebrate with. Getting into his car, he put the engine in ignition and started down the empty road. The road was free which meant he would get back home earlier. He could say everything was working out well for him. All of a sudden, the blaring horn of a truck from nearby almost deafened him but it turned out to be the least of his problems at the moment. In a sudden impact, the truck collided with his moving car with so much speed that his car tumbled upside down and continued to tumble down the road. He felt pain shoot all through his entire body before his consciousness began to slip from him slowly. As his car stopped tumbling, landing upside down, his lips mumbled the name of the one person he wished was by his side. “Blaire…” He wanted to see her one more time, to have
THIRD POVJane sat at the questioning table, lost as to why she was there. She had gone to see Fabian and he was all that mattered to her, so why was she being arrested? Was she perhaps doubted to be the killer? “I didn't do this! I swear! It is all Blaire's fault!” She yelled out for the tenth time. The police officer rubbed his weary forehead. “Why do you keep on saying that? You have been repeating that stamemt over and over again. How is she the one at fault? Did she try kill him?” She shook her head. “No, but it was her fault. He would not have even been in such a situation if it wasn't for that psycho's obsession with her.”“What psycho? Jacob Sylvan?” “Jacob Sylvan?” Her brows creased. “Is that his last name? Wait, Sylvan? That means he's her ex husband!” She gasped. “No wonder why he was so crazy about her! Always beating me up whenever I asked him to allow me to something bad to her.”“Beating you?” She met his eyes and laughed. She was going crazy. “I know him as “partn
THIRD POV Blaire was silent, it wasn't enough for her that they could not kill him for her. She wanted him dead with the hope that he would no longer be able to terrorize her family any longer. Debbie took her hand in hers and squeezed it softly. “I understand your worry, but I swear that he will never be able to hurt you any more. Just let me handle this, please. Trust me to do my job.“If you insist on not telling us, there is nothing we can do about it but I want you to know that if you do find him on your own and kill him, I will personally arrest you and send you to life imprisonment. I promise you that.” Her colleague tapped her gently, telling her she was going too far. But Debbie didn't care, she meant to go as far as possible just to make Blaire come back to her senses. “I get it,” she said, “you're being controlled by rage and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't. But we need to be reasonable here. Don't try to act like this, feel that rage, feel that anger, b
THIRD POV Blaire would never have believed it was possible to cry until tears dried out from the eyes if she hadn't experienced it herself. She sat in the hall way, waiting for the emergency surgery to end. It had been hours, or maybe that was how she felt. Her family and Fabian's family had joined her in the hospital as well after they were informed. None of them wanted to cry or break down in her presence. Not even his parents. They all wanted to be strong for her so she wouldn't end up breaking down again. None of them knew what was running through her head, moments ago, she had been crying without stopping, not even when they held her to comfort her. But now, she was as silent as a ghost who was afraid of being spotted. She just sat there in their midst like she wasn't there, her eyes staring off into the distance. Her face, once wet with tears, had become tired and hollow, her tears drying up on her face. Her eyes, as beautiful as they were, were as empty as an empty cave.
THIRD POV A few days earlier, Jane had met up with Jacob just to discuss a few details of their mission at separating the happy couple. They had met at the abandoned building they did before, Jane still didn't feel property accommodated in such an environment but she had accepted it.They were both seated on the sofa, drinks in hand while having face to face conversation. “So, that's clear.” He said to her, “But let me make this one thing clear to you, don't you ever lay a finger on her okay? You are, on no occasion, allowed to go physical with her. Do you understand me?” Jane pouted and crossed her legs. “I don't understand something here, no matter how many times I think about it.” She allowed herself a sip from her glass and continued. “What exactly is so special about this bitch in particular? Who exactly wants her back? Doesn't he know she's just a useless bitch? Can't we convince him to let us kill her?”She turned to look at Jacob, a playful smirk on her lips, but a hard sl
BLAIRE'S POV I rose to my feet and called out to my dog. “Downey!” At my command, he moved away from her and came to position himself right next to me in a protective stance. I pet him, complimenting him for protecting me. When I looked away from him, Jane was already standing on her feet. She glared at me with so much anger and hatred in her eyes. “How audacious of you!” She was fuming. “I will prove to you that you just can't steal someone else's man like that. Not while I breathe!” Without saying another word, she turned around and stormed off. I stared at her with so much surprise, I had never expected her to act that way towards me. I couldn't help but to ask myself, was that how I was supposed to fight for Jacob back then when Ella came and stole him from me? Was I supposed to try to kill Ella? Try to beat her up? Shake her up a little but enough to make her run away? No. This was too obsessive no matter what angle I looked at it from. Fabian wasn't even her lover, they
