Three years later~

"Mummy, I want to stay here." She whined, pouting her small red lips. Her deep blue eyes shimmered with rising tears and her head bowed in sadness.

I sighed, looking down at the little girl next to me. Crouching down to meet her gaze, I cupped her chubby cheeks in my hands and smiled. "Honey, I know and I understand how you feel."

Yet another sigh drew from my mouth as my eyes looked over our mansion. Looking back at her, I reached for her tiny hands and held them in mine. "Honestly I feel the same way too, I don't want to leave."

Returning to New York after three years made me feel so anxious. My heart tightened whenever I thought about it but I just had to do it for the sake of business.

My past, my fears, everything was still there, waiting for me.

"Then let's stay!" She insisted, staring pleadingly into my eyes.

"My princess, we have to go. You know I already told you that mummy has work to do there but I promise you this, it won't take long at all. We'll be back before you even know it. Trust me."

She nodded her head, reluctantly though, finally giving in. We had had this conversation so many times that I could not remember the number. I pulled her into my arms and hugged her.

Bringing myself to my feet, I held out my hand for her. "Come on, we have a flight to catch."

She wrapped her small hands around my fingers. We walked over to my car and I strapped her in her baby seat.

"We need to get to the airport quickly." I ordered my driver, fastening my own seatbelt.

He nodded his head in response and put the car in ignition.

The screen of my phone lit up with a call and a smile spread across my face as I saw the name. "Hey Jessy,"

"Girl! I am so sorry I couldn't see you off to the airport. I know you must be feeling so anxious right now but you have nothing to worry about! Oh I am so excited! I have only read about comebacks like this in novels!" She squealed.

I couldn't hold back a chuckle. "Calm down and breathe Jessy, besides, this isn't a comeback, it's just... Business."

"Business? Pff! Oh please! It is a comeback alright! You are returning to the city you escaped from as a big shot stylist! Your designs rule the world! Do you not know that?"

I rolled my eyes. "You are too much."

She broke out in a chuckle. "By the way... I just want you to be careful, our past always sneaks up on us when we least expect it."

My eyes turned to look at Gemma, my daughter, she had her eyes on the screen of her tab. I had always lived with a fragment of my past, it never left me, but she was the only thing that kept me going, that made me struggle and helped me reach where I was today.

"I'll be fine."

***

The hall was lit up with beautiful fluorescent lights, servers dressed nearly in white and black swayed around with trays in their hands. Everything was just to perfection, the way I had wanted it to be.

New York was decided to host my flagship store even though I wanted to avoid returning here. But since it could not be helped, I would make it into the best it could be.

I had never felt prettier, a white shimmering dress hugged my curves tightly, barely holding on to my shoulders. The bust revealed just about enough skin and the slit on the right side, reaching all the way to my thigh, made it easier to walk.

My brunette hair, always trapped in a bun, was finally free to fall over my shoulders and I adorned my face with just about enough make up. It was my night and I planned to own it.

Diamonds had always interested me, no other reason for having a diamond purse, jewelry and shoes.

No one knew who I was, though I got a few stares from other guests, but they all assumed I was just another flamboyantly dressed guest.

I decided to get some fresh air before the main event would begin, but the sound of a familiar voice kept me hooked to the spot.

Turning my head to the side, there she was, none other than Ella, dressed flamboyantly in a body hugging dress. Then our eyes met.

She stood frozen for a few seconds, eyes widened like she had just seen a ghost. But a smile relaxed her face as she walked towards me. "Well who do we have here? What the hell do you think you are doing here? Dressed like that..." Her eyes assessed my body. "Where did you even get such clothes? Did you steal them to pretend like you fit in here?

"A security guard obviously needs to be fired for letting such a filthy thing inside here." She raised her voice, calling the attention of the other guests.

I felt my chest tighten in anger but I refused to give her the satisfaction of a reaction. Especially not now that the crowd had silenced down.

"Not so good to see you too, Ella." I responded, a calm smile resting on my face.

She scoffed. "Three fucking years! You disappeared like dust and now you crawl back here? What? Do you need money? Are you here to beg?"

I stared at her in silence, holding back myself.

She felt so belittled and pissed off by my silence, especially since I had a smile on my face. She scoffed a laugh. "I always knew you were a filthy thing. A used product thinking she can make herself look pretty again, you're nothing but a useless ex wife!"

Murmurs of people filled my ears, some snickered while some laughed.

I stood there, refusing to let her get the best of me. But then a voice boomed from behind the crowd, making us all turn our heads. "What exactly is going on here?!"

He walked back over to our table and sat down, a smile on his face. "I'm sorry about that, would you like to hear about it?" I blinked. "Uhm... Sure." "I've been asked to act in a commercial for the Rolls Royce Phantom but I don't really want that kind of attention. I need your advice, what do you think I should do?" He asked me. I batted my lashes confusedly. "What-- me?" I pointed at myself and he nodded. "You want my advice?" "Yeah. What do you think I should do? I want to decline it but they keep insisting. They gave me total control over the planning and strategizing of how the ad will run. "I get to pick the brand of outfits and accessories to use for the ad and I will also decide how it will go. They said it has to be for some reason, if it's not me then they don't want anyone else." I didn't know what to say, how could I give a man like him advice? "I mean... I guess you could do it for them since they are so insistent. They even gave you veto power so you could consider

  • Your Honor, I Want A Divorce!   Golden Wrist Watch

Scrolling through my phone, I felt so pleased with the news that was released. It made me more happy than when I opened my flagship store.Ella couldn't bring herself to apologize, her pride was bigger than the size of the earth. So the police had to intervene after all. Which made things worse for her. The restaurant wrote a press release about the issue, declaring that the Dickson family as well as the Sylvan family were banned from ever eating at the restaurant again. News spread faster than wild fire. Then it was also published that they were fined five million dollars for defamation of character and were to issue an apology as well. I didn't need their money but it didn't hurt to take from Ella, after everything she had taken from me. "Are you okay?" Fabian's voice pulled me out of my soliloquy and I dropped my phone on the table. He handed me a glass of water to help calm my nerves while our meal was being prepared. Accepting it with a smile, I let him sit down before I s

The manager bowed his head deeply. "Mr McConnell! You've arrived just in time! This woman over here--" "Is my guest." Fabian cut him off softly. "Yes, your guest, she..." The manager's words trailed off after realizing what Fabian had just said. "Your guest?!" I felt like I could finally breathe properly. A sense of relief washed over me where I stood and I felt like I could finally relax. "Didn't I inform you that a guest of mine would be coming over? What did I tell you to do when she arrives?" Fabian questioned him. "Y--yes sir! But I didn't know-- you told me a guest was coming and that I was to take her to the vvip section." He stuttered, fear plastered on his face. "Did you not know that she was around?" Fabian's voice was cool as he asked but that was what frightened the manager most. It made a chill run down my spine as well. The fact that he was so relaxed after witnessing what he did, normally others would get angry and yell out but he was calm and listened to

I stood in front of her, not willing to let myself be made into a fool like the last time. "What do you want from me Ella? You have taken everything I once owned, my mother, my husband, everything, what else do you want from me?" "Don't be such a whining baby, she is my mother too and Jacob had never been yours from the start." She gave a dramatic roll of her eyes as she spoke. "What exactly do you want?" I demanded, trying to hold back my anger. "I want to expose you to the whole world so they can see that you really are nothing but a pretender!" She spat out at my face. "A pretender?" I squinted. "Do you think I will really believe that stunt you pulled off the last time? You? The owner of Gemma's Collection, ha! I would rather believe that pigs can fly than believe that stupid lie." I couldn't help but to roll my eyes. "You need to get yourself checked because obviously you are not okay." "What are you doing in a place like this, Blaire?" A distant cold voice spoke u

CHAPTER 13The driver walked towards me, "Miss Blaire Quincy?" He asked with a slightly arched brow. I couldn't help but to wonder how such a man with good looks was working as a driver but I would be lying if I said I was surprised, knowing how hot Fabian was. I nodded my head in response, still trying to process the image that was before my eyes. Only very few people owned that kind of car in the entire world, the first man to have ever purchased it had kept his identity hidden, apparently it was Fabian! "Let me carry your purse for you while I lead you to the car." He offered, his voice pulling me out of my thoughts. "Oh... Okay." I responded, still in shock. Jessica stood still next to me and only when I tapped her did she blink and look away from the car. "Huh? Oh my goodness! How come?""I feel so damn nervous..." I whispered to her. She took my hands in hers and squeezed them softly, "deep breaths B, everything will be alright." I nodded my head. "Maybe I should have dre

  • Your Honor, I Want A Divorce!   A Rolls Royce

CHAPTER 12I stood in front of the mirror, checking out my dress and trying to find out if it was good enough. It sounded funny to me, looking in the mirror and trying to decide if I was good enough for a meeting with a man. A man I didn't even know that well! Fabian... How do you have this much power over me? I didn't want to overdo it, but I was afraid I would under do it as well. I had tried on a red sleeveless dress that reached just above my knee but it didn't quite seem to be the one. So I took it off and settled for pants instead, reminding myself not to over do it. I put on a white high waist palazzo pants with a white armless turtle neck and a golden chained belt around my waist to match my golden heels and purse. I made my hair into a tight and near bun with a golden scrunchie holding it in place. At first, I wanted to go for black heels like most people would settle for but I had recently gotten the golden heels and I just had to wear them. Besides, they looked amazi
