LOGINThree years later~
"Mummy, I want to stay here." She whined, pouting her small red lips. Her deep blue eyes shimmered with rising tears and her head bowed in sadness. I sighed, looking down at the little girl next to me. Crouching down to meet her gaze, I cupped her chubby cheeks in my hands and smiled. "Honey, I know and I understand how you feel." Yet another sigh drew from my mouth as my eyes looked over our mansion. Looking back at her, I reached for her tiny hands and held them in mine. "Honestly I feel the same way too, I don't want to leave." Returning to New York after three years made me feel so anxious. My heart tightened whenever I thought about it but I just had to do it for the sake of business. My past, my fears, everything was still there, waiting for me. "Then let's stay!" She insisted, staring pleadingly into my eyes. "My princess, we have to go. You know I already told you that mummy has work to do there but I promise you this, it won't take long at all. We'll be back before you even know it. Trust me." She nodded her head, reluctantly though, finally giving in. We had had this conversation so many times that I could not remember the number. I pulled her into my arms and hugged her. Bringing myself to my feet, I held out my hand for her. "Come on, we have a flight to catch." She wrapped her small hands around my fingers. We walked over to my car and I strapped her in her baby seat. "We need to get to the airport quickly." I ordered my driver, fastening my own seatbelt. He nodded his head in response and put the car in ignition. The screen of my phone lit up with a call and a smile spread across my face as I saw the name. "Hey Jessy," "Girl! I am so sorry I couldn't see you off to the airport. I know you must be feeling so anxious right now but you have nothing to worry about! Oh I am so excited! I have only read about comebacks like this in novels!" She squealed. I couldn't hold back a chuckle. "Calm down and breathe Jessy, besides, this isn't a comeback, it's just... Business." "Business? Pff! Oh please! It is a comeback alright! You are returning to the city you escaped from as a big shot stylist! Your designs rule the world! Do you not know that?" I rolled my eyes. "You are too much." She broke out in a chuckle. "By the way... I just want you to be careful, our past always sneaks up on us when we least expect it." My eyes turned to look at Gemma, my daughter, she had her eyes on the screen of her tab. I had always lived with a fragment of my past, it never left me, but she was the only thing that kept me going, that made me struggle and helped me reach where I was today. "I'll be fine." *** The hall was lit up with beautiful fluorescent lights, servers dressed nearly in white and black swayed around with trays in their hands. Everything was just to perfection, the way I had wanted it to be. New York was decided to host my flagship store even though I wanted to avoid returning here. But since it could not be helped, I would make it into the best it could be. I had never felt prettier, a white shimmering dress hugged my curves tightly, barely holding on to my shoulders. The bust revealed just about enough skin and the slit on the right side, reaching all the way to my thigh, made it easier to walk. My brunette hair, always trapped in a bun, was finally free to fall over my shoulders and I adorned my face with just about enough make up. It was my night and I planned to own it. Diamonds had always interested me, no other reason for having a diamond purse, jewelry and shoes. No one knew who I was, though I got a few stares from other guests, but they all assumed I was just another flamboyantly dressed guest. I decided to get some fresh air before the main event would begin, but the sound of a familiar voice kept me hooked to the spot. Turning my head to the side, there she was, none other than Ella, dressed flamboyantly in a body hugging dress. Then our eyes met. She stood frozen for a few seconds, eyes widened like she had just seen a ghost. But a smile relaxed her face as she walked towards me. "Well who do we have here? What the hell do you think you are doing here? Dressed like that..." Her eyes assessed my body. "Where did you even get such clothes? Did you steal them to pretend like you fit in here? "A security guard obviously needs to be fired for letting such a filthy thing inside here." She raised her voice, calling the attention of the other guests. I felt my chest tighten in anger but I refused to give her the satisfaction of a reaction. Especially not now that the crowd had silenced down. "Not so good to see you too, Ella." I responded, a calm smile resting on my face. She scoffed. "Three fucking years! You disappeared like dust and now you crawl back here? What? Do you need money? Are you here to beg?" I stared at her in silence, holding back myself. She felt so belittled and pissed off by my silence, especially since I had a smile on my face. She scoffed a laugh. "I always knew you were a filthy thing. A used product thinking she can make herself look pretty again, you're nothing but a useless ex wife!" Murmurs of people filled my ears, some snickered while some laughed. I stood there, refusing to let her get the best of me. But then a voice boomed from behind the crowd, making us all turn our heads. "What exactly is going on here?!"I turned in bed only to realize I was alone. Sitting up in bed, I reached for my phone on the lamp stand and checked the time. It was already past evening.Throwing on the first cloth I could find, I went downstairs to check where he could have gone while I was asleep. To my surprise, the entire house was empty except for myself. Jessica was still out having fun with Gemma like I had instructed her to but Fabian was no where to be found. I rushed back upstairs to get my phone. That was when I noticed a message that had skipped my eyes earlier. [In case I'm not back by the time you're awake, I got an urgent call from work and I had to attend to it. So sorry for leaving so abruptly but I didn't want to wake you up. [I hope I'll be back before you wake up but if I'm not then enjoy the chocolate I got you. I wanted to get you something as sweet as you but apparently it doesn't exist. I love you and I will see you soon.]For some reason, the moment I read the words "i love you" my heart
THIRD POV Unfortunately, Ella didn't notice the change of expression on Damian's face as she asked him to destroy Blaire. She was too busy plotting evil in her head. Damian smiled to hide the anger rising inside of him. "And how do you want me to achieve that?" He set his phone in recording and placed it casually on the bed. She opened her mouth to speak but closed it back to think for a second. "Hmm… I don't know actually. Aren't you the one fucking her? You should know how to do it since you managed to maneuver your way into her life. "I should be the one asking you how you plan to do it. But since you have asked me, I'll share some ideas with you." She sat up properly and spoke in a calm voice. "Maybe you can find a way to make her trust you completely, then you can start drawing all of her secrets from her, starting from who the father of her child is." She squinted thoughtfully. Damian himself was interested in finding out who the father of the child was. He decided to ask.
I climbed onto the bed and sat down, waiting for him to follow my lead. But he just stood there, smiling at me. I couldn't help but to smile back. I tapped my lap and stretched out my hand towards him. "Come here." He chuckled softly and finally climbed the bed. "What do you want us to do, my darling angel?" He asked in a low and somewhat seductive tone that made my cheeks heat up. I couldn't stop smiling just from looking at his face. "I'm going to help you fall asleep, you look so exhausted." I cupped his face in my palms and looked into them. Fatigue was not enough to describe what I saw in them. It made my heart break. "Rest your head on my lap, I will help you fall asleep so you can be well rested before going back to your place." He froze, staring at me like he didn't understand what I was talking about. When he finally moved, he cleared his throat softly and laid down on my legs like I had instructed him. There was a hint of disappointment in his dark and magical eyes but
THIRD POV Fabian sat down next to the woman he had come to love most in the entire world. The past few days had been nothing but hectic yet somehow being around her was just enough to bring him the long awaited solace he so desperately needed. He felt his heart warm up as she placed her hand on his and squeezed on it gently. It felt so good to know that she was finally giving them a chance. He hated hospitals more than ever. The fact that he had said goodbye to his first love in that same hospital was haunting. When he called and was told that Blaire was unconscious, his heart stopped beating for more than a moment. Several thoughts began to run through his head. Maybe he was cursed or something, maybe all his lovers were predestined to die, maybe he was not meant to love anyone because it would end tragically. None of it would have made any sense to him because he didn't really believe in superstitions like curses but if something bad were to happen to Blaire as well then it wo
Her soft voice caught my ear as she spoke up after a short silence. "Can I get some time to think about it?" I nodded with a smile on my face. "No problem. Just don't take too long to think about it or else by the time you finally make up your mind, you'll be delivering that baby."She laughed, soft, hearty and sincere. Almost as if he had been waiting for our conversation to end, Fabian walked back inside the room with a smiling Gemma running around him with her tiny legs and playing like never before. Fabian's smile was no lesser. It was like he was sincerely happy to have her around him. I had never seen my own daughter smile so much before. Her laughter rang through the room as she kept playing with him. Then Fabian took her to her toys to distract her while he came over to my bed. He sat down at the edge and took my hand in his. "Are you okay? Do you feel strange inside? If yes then let me know so I can explain everything to the doctor." His voice was soft as he spoke. I sh
I stared at her, waiting for her to say something, but it was like she was waiting for me to do the same. The silence dragged on for a moment more before I finally cut through it. "You were going to abort an innocent baby?" The words left my mouth harsher than I had intended. She stared at me in the same silence, eyes falling to her fingers that fiddled nervously together. I continued, managing to reduce the hardness in my tone. "Are you okay?" She looked up at me, surprised by my question. Then she nodded and her gaze fell back down to her fiddling fingers. Thankfully though, there was a visible calm on her face this time. She still didn't speak to me. She probably didn't have any words to express how sorry she was and how much she regretted keeping it from me until it was too late. I reached out and placed my hand on hers, trying to calm her down. A sigh drew from our mouths almost in unison and she looked up at me and smiled. I finally had the courage to ask all of my questi
