View MoreMy body went numb, the only sound I could hear was the fast paced beating of my heart colliding with a high pitched ringing.
It made no sense. It must have been fabricated. The door to her apartment was left ajar and I became hesitant to let myself in. But I knew I had to check. To see for myself. "Ugh! Yeah baby! Fuck me hard! Harder! Oh yeah! Ahh!" My feet slowed as my sister's voice rang in my ears. Standing by the opened bedroom door, it all played out in front of me just like the recording I had received. My knees grew weak from the sight that played before me. My own husband, having intense sex with my own sister. "Oh yeah... Just like that..." My sister's moans bounced off the walls right at my face, syncing with the momentary squeaking of the bed. I should have known, it was always her. It had always been her. Even though he proposed to me, pronounced his vows to me at the altar, promised to love me forever, it had always been her. Ella has always been the apple of everyone's eyes. Even at home. Our parents favoured her and gave her everything she wanted while I was treated as an outcast and no more. My body moved subconsciously, having pity on me as my gaze averted from the soul crushing scene. Tears clogged my vision and my heart banged against my rib cage like it so desperately wanted to escape. A vibration cut through the continuous moaning of my sister, my phone glowing with a message. [It must be clear to you now who Jacob truly loves. Stop deceiving yourself and pretending to be someone with value.] When I received that video at work, I should have known that my mother was the one behind the strings. Seeing her text now confirmed it. How could she be so heartless? Sending me such a video at work? And now a text like this? What could I ever have done to deserve such cruelty from the ones I loved? Who was to blame for this? My own husband who had been deceiving me while sleeping with my sister behind my back? Or Ella who had always despised me and wanted everything I ever laid my hands on? Or my own mother who always backed her up? None of them were to blame. It was all my fault. I had purposely ignored the signs that brightly shone at my face. When my husband suddenly grew distant a few weeks ago, hardly ever sleeping at home and blaming it on work. When my sister spelt it to my face that she would take everything that belonged to me. When my own mother told me to give up my useless dream of ever becoming someone in life and just live as Ella's shadow. I chose to ignore everything because I loved them sincerely. I so desperately wanted to. I was such an idiot. Five years of being a devoted wife gone into the trash like it never meant anything. I bet they laughed at me and mocked me while I was busy trying to be the best wife. How could they treat me like I was just a game piece? A puppet desperately waiting for its strings to be pulled! I wiped my tears, swallowing hard enough to choke myself. Tucking my phone into my bag, I walked out of Ella's apartment, the clicking of my heels trailing after me. I didn't know how I managed it, but I drove myself home safely. Tossing my keys on the table, I sank into the couch and tried to steady my heart by taking several calming breaths. Alone with nothing but my thoughts, tears shrouded my vision once more and I sobbed silently into my pillow. All my life, sadness had tailed me around. Who knew he would find me in my marital home as well? The sound of a car pulling up in the front yard drew my attention and I knew it had to be him. My heart was heavy, my soul was fuming, but I wiped my tears and sat up straight on the couch. Usually, I would run up to him to meet him halfway to the living room, but I remained seated. I felt my heart pounding, any moment from now, I would be staring back at those deep blue eyes that once provided peace for me. He walked into the living room, Ella's scent spilling from every part of him. How dumb did he think I was? That I would not recognize my own sister's signature scent? His blue eyes sparked with curiosity, his brown hair a little messy from his earlier "activity". "Hey babe, what's wrong?" His voice, once a soothing pill, caused a chill to run down my spine. "You look a little sick. Your eyes are puffy too. Are you okay?" A laugh escaped my mouth, a reaction I could not control. With a sigh, I asked, "where have you been?" Knowing well where he was. "At work of course." He responded, taking off his coat. "As expected." My voice was calm. Calm enough to scare me. I rose to my feet, adjusting my skirt as I did. "I'm going to ask you one last time, Jacob and if you have a little humanity left in you, you will tell me the truth. Where... Were... You?" "What is this?" He asked with a scoffed laugh. "What is the meaning of--" I shoved my phone in his face, playing the video my mother had sent me. I watched as his brow arched in confusion and shock then his tongue slipped out and licked his lower lip, with his hand resting on his hips. "How did you get this?" He questioned, slapping my hand away from his face. "What is this supposed to mean?" I scoffed a laugh. Even with evidence, he still refused to come clean. As heavy as the words weighed on my heart, I knew I had no other choice. "I want a divorce." He broke out in a sinister laugh. My skin crawled. The manager bowed his head deeply. "Mr McConnell! You've arrived just in time! This woman over here--" "Is my guest." Fabian cut him off softly. "Yes, your guest, she..." The manager's words trailed off after realizing what Fabian had just said. "Your guest?!" I felt like I could finally breathe properly. A sense of relief washed over me where I stood and I felt like I could finally relax. "Didn't I inform you that a guest of mine would be coming over? What did I tell you to do when she arrives?" Fabian questioned him. "Y--yes sir! But I didn't know-- you told me a guest was coming and that I was to take her to the vvip section." He stuttered, fear plastered on his face. "Did you not know that she was around?" Fabian's voice was cool as he asked but that was what frightened the manager most. It made a chill run down my spine as well. The fact that he was so relaxed after witnessing what he did, normally others would get angry and yell out but he was calm and listened to
I stood in front of her, not willing to let myself be made into a fool like the last time. "What do you want from me Ella? You have taken everything I once owned, my mother, my husband, everything, what else do you want from me?" "Don't be such a whining baby, she is my mother too and Jacob had never been yours from the start." She gave a dramatic roll of her eyes as she spoke. "What exactly do you want?" I demanded, trying to hold back my anger. "I want to expose you to the whole world so they can see that you really are nothing but a pretender!" She spat out at my face. "A pretender?" I squinted. "Do you think I will really believe that stunt you pulled off the last time? You? The owner of Gemma's Collection, ha! I would rather believe that pigs can fly than believe that stupid lie." I couldn't help but to roll my eyes. "You need to get yourself checked because obviously you are not okay." "What are you doing in a place like this, Blaire?" A distant cold voice spoke u
CHAPTER 13The driver walked towards me, "Miss Blaire Quincy?" He asked with a slightly arched brow. I couldn't help but to wonder how such a man with good looks was working as a driver but I would be lying if I said I was surprised, knowing how hot Fabian was. I nodded my head in response, still trying to process the image that was before my eyes. Only very few people owned that kind of car in the entire world, the first man to have ever purchased it had kept his identity hidden, apparently it was Fabian! "Let me carry your purse for you while I lead you to the car." He offered, his voice pulling me out of my thoughts. "Oh... Okay." I responded, still in shock. Jessica stood still next to me and only when I tapped her did she blink and look away from the car. "Huh? Oh my goodness! How come?""I feel so damn nervous..." I whispered to her. She took my hands in hers and squeezed them softly, "deep breaths B, everything will be alright." I nodded my head. "Maybe I should have dre
CHAPTER 12I stood in front of the mirror, checking out my dress and trying to find out if it was good enough. It sounded funny to me, looking in the mirror and trying to decide if I was good enough for a meeting with a man. A man I didn't even know that well! Fabian... How do you have this much power over me? I didn't want to overdo it, but I was afraid I would under do it as well. I had tried on a red sleeveless dress that reached just above my knee but it didn't quite seem to be the one. So I took it off and settled for pants instead, reminding myself not to over do it. I put on a white high waist palazzo pants with a white armless turtle neck and a golden chained belt around my waist to match my golden heels and purse. I made my hair into a tight and near bun with a golden scrunchie holding it in place. At first, I wanted to go for black heels like most people would settle for but I had recently gotten the golden heels and I just had to wear them. Besides, they looked amazi
After my speech, Ella and her mother disappeared from the crowds, throwing themselves out before I would ask the security to do so. Jacob was reluctant to leave, obviously still wanting to question me about my child, but he was their puppet now and wherever they went, he followed. The guests took their time to look around the place, it was bigger and better than my founding company in London, as it was meant to be. A lot of people walked over towards me, apologizing for not standing up for me earlier. I could only smile and tell them it was alright. They made it too obvious that they were only after what would benefit them. Well, so was I. Fabian walked over towards me, his seductive lips curving into a smile. "You handled that too well." I arched my brow. "What?" "You made them kick themselves out. It was really smart of you." There was a gentle smile on his lips. He had the kind of smile that intoxicated you and made you smile as well even if you were once angry. Like he was
I blinked. "I'm okay. Thank you." "May I?" He reached out towards Gemma who was still sobbing on my shoulders. At first, I felt hesitant, but I decided to trust him and hand her to him. He took her from me and hugged her to his chest. I wanted to stop him from placing her head on his shoulder because of her runny nose and wet face but he didn't care. He didn't mind. Gently, he rocked her in his arms and managed to calm her. Then he handed her back to me. "She just needs to sleep." "Yeah..." I was so impressed by his skills. Then curiosity pushed me to ask. "Do you know me?" He arched his thick brow at me. "Excuse me?" "Oh I mean... Fabian McConnell, I know your name. I did business with McConnell enterprise in London, I never met you but your personal assistant met with me and told me everything I needed to know about the partnership deal. It's you right?" He squinted his eyes, staring at me and somehow at a distant memory. Then he spoke up, "oh... Blaire Quincy, ho
