View MoreMy body went numb, the only sound I could hear was the fast paced beating of my heart colliding with a high pitched ringing.
It made no sense. It must have been fabricated. The door to her apartment was left ajar and I became hesitant to let myself in. But I knew I had to check. To see for myself. "Ugh! Yeah baby! Fuck me hard! Harder! Oh yeah! Ahh!" My feet slowed as my sister's voice rang in my ears. Standing by the opened bedroom door, it all played out in front of me just like the recording I had received. My knees grew weak from the sight that played before me. My own husband, having intense sex with my own sister. "Oh yeah... Just like that..." My sister's moans bounced off the walls right at my face, syncing with the momentary squeaking of the bed. I should have known, it was always her. It had always been her. Even though he proposed to me, pronounced his vows to me at the altar, promised to love me forever, it had always been her. Ella has always been the apple of everyone's eyes. Even at home. Our parents favoured her and gave her everything she wanted while I was treated as an outcast and no more. My body moved subconsciously, having pity on me as my gaze averted from the soul crushing scene. Tears clogged my vision and my heart banged against my rib cage like it so desperately wanted to escape. A vibration cut through the continuous moaning of my sister, my phone glowing with a message. [It must be clear to you now who Jacob truly loves. Stop deceiving yourself and pretending to be someone with value.] When I received that video at work, I should have known that my mother was the one behind the strings. Seeing her text now confirmed it. How could she be so heartless? Sending me such a video at work? And now a text like this? What could I ever have done to deserve such cruelty from the ones I loved? Who was to blame for this? My own husband who had been deceiving me while sleeping with my sister behind my back? Or Ella who had always despised me and wanted everything I ever laid my hands on? Or my own mother who always backed her up? None of them were to blame. It was all my fault. I had purposely ignored the signs that brightly shone at my face. When my husband suddenly grew distant a few weeks ago, hardly ever sleeping at home and blaming it on work. When my sister spelt it to my face that she would take everything that belonged to me. When my own mother told me to give up my useless dream of ever becoming someone in life and just live as Ella's shadow. I chose to ignore everything because I loved them sincerely. I so desperately wanted to. I was such an idiot. Five years of being a devoted wife gone into the trash like it never meant anything. I bet they laughed at me and mocked me while I was busy trying to be the best wife. How could they treat me like I was just a game piece? A puppet desperately waiting for its strings to be pulled! I wiped my tears, swallowing hard enough to choke myself. Tucking my phone into my bag, I walked out of Ella's apartment, the clicking of my heels trailing after me. I didn't know how I managed it, but I drove myself home safely. Tossing my keys on the table, I sank into the couch and tried to steady my heart by taking several calming breaths. Alone with nothing but my thoughts, tears shrouded my vision once more and I sobbed silently into my pillow. All my life, sadness had tailed me around. Who knew he would find me in my marital home as well? The sound of a car pulling up in the front yard drew my attention and I knew it had to be him. My heart was heavy, my soul was fuming, but I wiped my tears and sat up straight on the couch. Usually, I would run up to him to meet him halfway to the living room, but I remained seated. I felt my heart pounding, any moment from now, I would be staring back at those deep blue eyes that once provided peace for me. He walked into the living room, Ella's scent spilling from every part of him. How dumb did he think I was? That I would not recognize my own sister's signature scent? His blue eyes sparked with curiosity, his brown hair a little messy from his earlier "activity". "Hey babe, what's wrong?" His voice, once a soothing pill, caused a chill to run down my spine. "You look a little sick. Your eyes are puffy too. Are you okay?" A laugh escaped my mouth, a reaction I could not control. With a sigh, I asked, "where have you been?" Knowing well where he was. "At work of course." He responded, taking off his coat. "As expected." My voice was calm. Calm enough to scare me. I rose to my feet, adjusting my skirt as I did. "I'm going to ask you one last time, Jacob and if you have a little humanity left in you, you will tell me the truth. Where... Were... You?" "What is this?" He asked with a scoffed laugh. "What is the meaning of--" I shoved my phone in his face, playing the video my mother had sent me. I watched as his brow arched in confusion and shock then his tongue slipped out and licked his lower lip, with his hand resting on his hips. "How did you get this?" He questioned, slapping my hand away from his face. "What is this supposed to mean?" I scoffed a laugh. Even with evidence, he still refused to come clean. As heavy as the words weighed on my heart, I knew I had no other choice. "I want a divorce." He broke out in a sinister laugh. My skin crawled."Well don't keep him waiting!" Brie exclaimed. I chuckled. "Of course I'll say yes, you're mine anyways, I won't let anyone else have you." We all shared a laugh. I rose to my feet and helped him up as well. "I bought a ring but I think I left it in the car. I should go get it--" A knock on the door cut him off. It was rough and loud like the person was impatient. "Who is there?" Brie asked but got no response. She started for the door but her husband held her hand to stop her. He went on her behalf and when he opened the door, he was shoved out of the way and he fell to the ground with a soft grunt. "Babe!" Brie exclaimed as she rushed to help him up. "Who are you people?! What do you want in my house?!" To my surprise, Jacob came into view from behind the man that had pushed Brie's husband. He noticed me and hurried to me. "Blaire! We need to talk, just please give me a moment." "A moment? You walked into my sister's house and tried to hurt her husband yet you want a mi
THIRD POVElla rose from her feet and began to thrash around like a psycho. "Turn it off! Turn it off! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. She threw the podium off the stage like a mad woman and Jacob simply moved out of the way for her. She ran towards the man that was playing the video and thrashed his laptop. The flickering and shuttering of camera flashes increased rapidly and they immediately typed down on their keyboards. After a moment of letting out her anger, everything blurred before her eyes and she collapsed to the ground. Security team immediately rushed towards her and carried her away. Jacob let out a soft sigh and spoke at the top of his lungs so his words would be carried all through the room. "Today! The engagement between us has been annuled. Even though I am no longer her fiancé, as a concerned friend, I will make sure that Ella gets due treatments at a rehabilitation center to help her and she will be paired with the best psychologist and th
THIRD POVJacob almost dropped to his knees, he felt his knees buckle and his heart rate dropped. He didn't know how to react to this news, so she was his daughter after all. "All this while..." He muttered softly to himself. Ella already knew this so it didn't come as a surprise to her. But what came as a surprise was the face that showed on the screen next. "Hello everyone, my name is Margaret and I am Blaire's mother. Ella as well. When they were young, I made a terrible mistake and that was the fact that I ostracized Blaire because of her father's doings. "It made me so angry that all she always did was ask for her father who left us alone. She was so angry at me like it was my fault. It made me so mad and I took it a little too far. It's too late to say I'm sorry but I am. "I allowed Ella have everything she wanted because she loved me more than her father. She even took Blaire's friends, her positions, and her husband too. Ella, you don't have to resort to such methods to h
THIRD POVElla felt her heart skip a beat as she heard the words of the reporters. Blaire was what? She took a step forward towards Jacob to tell him to ignore the request but he apparently didn't need her say on it. He smiled as he responded before she could get to him. "Sure. Let's use the projector. Can we please dim the lights in the hall?" His order was immediately carried out. Ella's eyes widened in shock. She immediately hurried towards Jacob and whispered in his ear. "We can't do that! Blaire obviously has nothing good to say! Please! Don't be like this!"Jacob took her hand with a smile and led her away from the stage where the projector was facing. He knew that they were still being watched by several sharp eyes. As they left the stage, he squeezed her hand a little too tight that she failed to hold back a whimper. He stood close to her and whispered softly against her ear. "This is all your fault, you brought it upon yourself. Whatever Blaire says, you will have to face
