Chapter Fifty-Three: Ashes To Ashes.

Magdalene turned her body to face the direction of the approaching carriage as the hooves tapped harder and harder on the tarmac. Finally, out of frustration, she decided to move to the edge where she did not have to wait for the carriage to come to view but rather where she could see its movements fully as it approached the manor.

Magdalene squinted her eyes and craned her neck excitedly, then frowned when a lone white horse, dragging a carriage that had clearly been meant for two horses, and a fairly dishevelled rider came to view.

“My word,” Magdalene muttered then paused for a few beats as the rider began his upward ascend clarifying his feat
