Chapter 11
Criza turns to me.  "Go and shower. I'm going to do the same." Criza grabs her backpack and heads to the guest bedroom. I stomp up the stairs and let the cold water run over my body.  I soak my hair and get out the shower. I throw on a sunflower sun dress, and  leave off shoes, then I tie my hair into a French plait.  Finally, Criza comes into my room. She puts her hand on her hips.  "Right. Here's a bag, we are putting everything and anything that reminds you of Kevin in here. We won't throw it away, but we will kept it out of sight. That's the best way to get them out of your head." She hands me a bag and starts throwing all the gifts I got from Kevin over the two years. She takes the photos of the wall. Then she walks over to my jewelry box.  "No!" I shout. Criza stops in her track.  "Why? Come on Gale." I shake my head. I walk over and hold

Chapter 12
"We are not going shopping!" I say, "Don't try to convince me otherwise!"  Three hours later, I have a thousand bags, and honestly, I feel really bad, because Criza paid for everything, because supposedly I'm dirt poor. Which is pretty accurate. Being a student is hard.  She even bought me two pairs of heels. I tried to tell her that I'm not going to wear them, ever, but hey, she didn't force me into too much else. Being a tomboy and having a best friend like Lisa is the worst possible combination ever.  "I think I need a change." I whisper.  "What do you mean?" Criza asks, holding up the bags of clothes.  "I think I need a bigger change. I just don't know what." I sigh. I don't need a change. Something other than just clothes.  "Why don't you cut your hair?" Criza suggests, and then turns to me "You would look really great with

Chapter 13
The next morning, I curled my short hair, leaving it down. I smile at myself. It is new and I am happy. I think its suits my features. I throw on a navy blue shirt, white jeans, and put on my motorcycle boots. I put white sandals into my backpack and I pick up my helmet. I climb onto my bike, and quickly ride to the office. When I arrive, I hear a commotion within the office. I can hear Aidan's voice from in the reception. He is a whole story above it. He must have had a fight with his mother. When I exit the elevator, I find Aidan standing in his navy tuxedo yelling at a poor employee, who seems absolutely frantic.  "Good morning Mr. Jonhson." I say amused. He does not turn around, as he is glaring at the poor intern, who seems to be terrified of poor Mr. Jonhson. I roll my eyes.  "Morning, Gale." His eyes never leave the young man, who has a pile of papers in his arms, as he greets me.  "I told you

Chapter 14
"Why, thank you." I say taking a mock bow.  "I want you to sit in this meeting. I have a lot of critics in the room- my father's goons. He has told them to be harsh and question everything I say. I need them to realise that this is serious and that I mean business. Having my personal assistant in there will help them realise that. My father is testing me." He ordere and I nod, following him into the boardroom. There is a very long glass table in the center of the fancy looking room.  Around it, sits men fully suited in their tuxedos, and their stereotypical businessmen frowns.  To my dismay, I am the only woman in the room. I squirm uncomfortably as I feel their judgemental stares rake over my body. I feel like I can smell money in here. Money and power. I suddenly feel a wave of sympathy for Aidan wash over me.  "Good morning Gentlemen." I swear Aidan's voice went a few tones deeper. It almost scared

Chapter 15
The next morning, I put on shorts, a tee shirt and Nike sneakers. I quickly made my self some breakfast and drove to the examination hall. I look at my watch. I'm just on time, and I quickly make my way to the hall, and find my seat. The professor hands out the exam papers. I roll my hand around, to prepare it for the scribbling that I'm about to do.  "Alright everyone, you have 4 hours. You may hand in your paper as soon as you are done. Good luck." The professor whom I had come to know very well says. I breathe in and start my paper.  It goes well. I know most of my work, and the question are nicely put. Eventually, after three hours of writing straight, and ten minutes of checking, I'm done. I'm finished.  I smile widely and hand in the paper to the examiner. I skip excitedly outside.  I call up my parents to meet with them at a nice little coffee shop.&nbs

Chapter 16
My phone rings. It's an unknown caller. I pick it up.  "Hello. It's Gale speaking." I say.  "Gale Armstrong?" The voice asks.  "Yes."  "I am very sorry for your loss ma'am. I don't know if you have heard, but your sister and brother in law were in an accident. They both died on impact." The phone drops out my hand.  No. No. They can't be serious. They can't be serious. No. No.  "Miss Armstrong, are you still there?" The phone says on the floor.  I feel a large lump form in my  throat as I sink to the floor.  "Y- Yes." I squeak. Shock, disbelief and utter despair run across me. No. No. No. No. I curl into myself, leaving the phone on the floor.  "You are the godmother of Theo Marshall are you not?"  "I - I am." I manage to make out, even though

"Aunty Gale!" He shouts and rushes over to me. I pick him up and hold him close. A tear runs down my check. He looks at me. "Why are you sad Aunty Gale?"  "Um .. I need to go and talk to the man inside the office. Will you stay outside and be a good boy?" He nods eagerly. I walk into the office.  "Ah, you must be Miss Armstrong." I nod, "so down to business. I know that you must be in shock, and that it's  a lot to take in. I assume that you probably have no idea what to do, which why I am here to help." I nod. Shock preventing me from doing or thinking anything. "Theo passes into your care. A social worker will be there to help you, and make sure that you are suitable to take care of him. Which brings us to the second thing. The will of your sister and brother in law. The house falls to Thony, your brother, who will inherit it because he is living in a rented apartment. However, Theo's furniture falls to

Chapter 18
"Aren't they going to fetch me Aunty Gale?" He asks. I shake my head.  "No honey. They have gone to live with God. They can't leave heaven. So that means that you have to stay with me. They can't come back, but they love you very much, and that love will always be in your heart forever. They will always be alive in your heart and your mind." I hope he understands.  "Oh." His face drops. "So will I ever see mommy and daddy again?" I shake my head. A tear drops down his cheek, and I pull him close, as sobs rack  both our bodies, and I hold him tightly as we cry together. I have him. That's what matters.  "I'm sorry baby. I'm so sorry." He says, and sobs into my shirt, making it all wet. I don't care though. I hold him close, even though I meant to be comforting him.  "So does that mean that now, you are my mommy?" He asks, through his tear face and I suck in a breath.

Chapter 19
The social worker drives Theo to my home, as I had to take the motorbike. She understands that I will get a car, which I will now have to drive Theo around in.  I let her inside the house.  "So, as you well know, I don't have any furniture for Theo's room, but I have already made arrangements to get it today. Let me show you where his room will be." I lead her to the guest room. She nods in approval.  "You have more than enough to keep Theo happy and comfortable. You handled telling him the terrible news very well. I know how hard this must be for you, but you will both be alright. So I'm sure you will get the hang of things, it will take time to figure out what to do, but if you need any help at all, please call me. You are now Theo's legal guardian." Rackel shakes my hand. I nod.  A hoot sounds from outside.  "That's Theo's furnitures, as well as the ca

Chapter 20
“Hello, my darling.” She says softly. I try to smile, but it doesn’t help. I walk up to my parents and my brother, and we join in one big hug, and as if it was a mutual cry, we sob together, and sink to the floor slowly. We stay like that for a few minutes until Theo interrupts.  “Guess what Granny and Papa!” He says excitedly, “I get to stay with Aunty Gale now!”  My parents look at me heartbroken and at the statement, my mother wails in agony. I try to give Theo a smile and pick him up. “Alright. Let’s get you home young man. It’s really late.” I hug my parents goodbye. “Drive safely Gale.” They state, looking at me with tears in their eyes. I just nod. I drive Theo home and lead him upstairs. "Here is your room Theo." I show him his room, I take him by the mad and let h
