Chapter 51
I must have fallen asleep in his arms, when I woke up, I could feel the sparks of his skin on mine, and the warmth of the fireplace at my back as I squirmed in discomfort. His anger was similar to the night my arm was broken, but it was so steady it surrounded me, it felt uncomfortable and painful even."Kal..." I started groggily, my eyes shooting open as a sudden rush of worry mixed with relief lifted the anger a bit, "what's wrong?"His eyes were swirling the green flecks around as I ran my hand up his chest and wrapped it around his neck. "Your anger hurts Kal," I whined as a stinging sense of shock rolled over me.I turned my head slightly to see Eathen and Nicholi sitting in chairs across from where we were. I was so confused and disoriented as I turned my head back to Kal, "Where did you find me?""In bed Octavia," his voice was concerned but sounded frustrated, "where did you go?""I woke up outside..." I was trying to grasp at anything tha

Chapter 52
As we made our way down into the kitchen, and I watched him cook us up some food, I couldn't help but think of how defenseless I was. When we travelled here, if whoever was in the trees made it to the vehicle before Kal, I would be dead, and if I was really out wandering around rogue territory at night, I could have died."Will you teach me how to fight?" I blurted out and caused him to snap his head in my direction. He thought about it for a moment, "Moon Rising doesn't train you, do they?""No, girls aren't allowed to train," I scoffed and folded my arms as he analyzed my face. He would probably refuse to train me as well, but I could try, I hated feeling like prey and the only way I had to defend myself now was to outrun them.I rolled my eyes at him as he was taking too long to respond. He walked around the counter and lifted me up to sit on it, looking him more eye to eye."Everyone is trained here once their wolf appears around 14." His words

Chapter 53
When we got down to the training room Eathen and Nicholi were dressed much the same. Fully dressed they looked similar in size to Kal, a bit smaller, but looking at them now, I truly recognized what a beast Kal was, and it made me wonder when we went back to Moon Rising how small I would think Theo was in comparison.Kal’s arms were explosive, his shoulders and biceps are huge and bulky, making his arms rest away from his chest slightly, where Eathen and Nicholi's muscles were large but still fit within their frame.Eathen stood by me and talked through some basic self defence moves that Kal was going through with poor Nicholi, making alterations as we went through and explaining what to do differently if I was in wolf form. He assured me once I was comfortable in human form that Echo would take over with the info and know what to do, that she had her instincts to guide her, and if we were good at fighting in person, that our wolves would just be an extension of

Chapter 54
Kal's eyes snapped to me intensely, eager to agree to whatever came out of my mouth, or at least I hoped."Number one, We have to go to Moon Rising first, my mom gave me a necklace that my birth mother made her promise to give to me on my 18th birthday, and in my utter fear for my life," I smirked at him, "I forgot to tell them to grab it when we left - BUT if you agree to this, you can't kill Ro...wan." I almost called him by his nickname and that would have set him off even further, his eyes had already suddenly changed, piercing me as they thought about my request. "Or Troy I guess... or Theo!" I threw in quickly."How many boyfriends did you have," his face was angry and tense, but his voice came out so low and possessive that it made my thighs quiver."None of them were my 'boyfriend' Kal, you know Theo is my brother," I rolled my eyes, "besides, does it matter? You were my first everything, you are mine, and I am yours," I slowly leant in to k

Chapter 55
As we walked into the training room Nicholi looked a little worried, while Eathen looked mischievously excited. I think Eathen agree with me that I needed to be trained, he knew Kal hated the idea, but to have a Luna untrained in a territory where everyone else was, was just asking for trouble.Kal paired me with Nicholi first, as him and Eathen modelled what to do. It was just going through the motions, but it felt like progress. Over the next few days the training graduated to a bit more hand to hand with less instruction, I could tell they were holding back as far as strength went, but I felt pretty fast in comparison.Kal always told me I was doing well, but he would say anything to make me satisfied enough with my training level to stop. It wasn't until I spent a day with Elle catching up, that I found out Eathen told her he was impressed with my progress. He would never tell me that in person, but knowing that, meant a lot to me.I kept pushing Kal to let

Chapter 56
"Yea...wolf... mate bond remember?" I rolled my eyes at them as I stood up. Eathen looked at Kal and Nicholi like they were mind linking a conversation, it was annoying to say the least that I was being left out."Wanna share with the class boys?" I raised my eyebrow at them but they all just stared at me for a minute and I seen Kal wince, which I assumed was in response to my now raging anger. I was angrier than I had ever been, he wouldn't really let me train, and now he was having private conversations after he specifically forbid it before."No? Great!" I was full on yelling at them as I started to stomp off, "Only wants to tell me sometimes, so much for not keeping anything from me, some fucking rules Kal."Kal’s voice boomed behind me, but in a tentative way, "Octavia stop!"I twirled on my heel around at them, I may have been too bold, but I didn't care at this point, all I could see was red and I was surprised Echo hadn't shifte

Chapter 57
“Can you guys not feel other people’s emotions???" My heart was racing as I stared at Kal waiting on a reaction."Umm...." Nicholi interrupted, "I feel violated," he smirked at me as Eathen shoved him for making jokes.Kal stroked his hand down my face, drawing my attention back to him, his voice was deep but soft again, "I can feel the sparks,” he cupped my face with his hand, “just like I can feel your body react to mine.”He adjusted the ice on my ribs and I winced a little, “I can feel when you're in pain, like when you cracked a rib hitting the mat, or when your anger was painful to you.” I could feel his sadness wash over me gently as my own guilt grew, he was protecting me when I didn’t realize I fractured something, not hindering my training because of his emotions. He lifted my chin so I was looking at him again, his voice was softer than I had ever heard it be, his words came out cautiously like th

Chapter 58
Kal paused briefly to look at me, my eyes were filled with tears for him and what he went through, then continued.“I will never tell another person, and it will never get out. No one but you and I know the real truth my love, and that is that I don’t think it was me that killed the rogue. Someone else had to have been there, to have helped in passing, but I will never know. It’s what my legacy is built on, what my people believe, and what makes them believe in me as their protector - along with events that came about as I aged, that corroborated that story." His voice was steady, but I could tell he was nervous, embarrassed slightly, even with the conviction of his choices mirroring his words. He took my face in his hand, “That story was the only secret I had to share with you, and it doesn’t change how you feel about me, does it?” His voice was sure, like he was making a point, but I could tell he was apprehensive for my answ

Kal covered my mouth with his hands and my heart sank, I knew this would be too much for him. I just stared into his eyes as he tried to process what I told him, my lungs felt as though they couldn't inhale as I waited to hear his voice and my tears streamed down, and over his hand against my lips. His chest rumbled beneath me and I could see Saber’s bright green hue’s trying to swirl in as Kal’s voice somehow came out steady, grounding me to a state of peace.“I will never leave you, and you will never be without me." His first words made me instantly cry harder in relief, his voice was so sure that I listened attentively for more."We will figure this out together and get through it together. We may have been drawn together by the mate bond, but that’s because we complete each other,” his face tensed, “even IF anything were to happen to that mate bond, you were still meant for me.”He lifted me up so that

Chapter 60
My heat.I didn’t pay much attention to the subject growing up, but it was always described to us as something that happens after you’ve been marked. My mom told me it varies all the time, sometimes days, sometimes up to a year, but it drives a female mad with lust, unable to control who she lets mate with her.It could even draw unmated males to her if her own mate is no where near, though it was meant to ensure an heir is produced, the heat lowering her inhibitions so that the mating process would be completed if for some reason it hadn't been, allowing the bond to take full effect. In the end, it essentially forced her hand into the bond and had always seemed barbaric to me, but it's why most Alpha's would mark their mates immediately regardless of consent. “She won’t be away from my side Eathen,” Kal seemed agitated at the thought. It was like Eathen expected his response, and it wasn't the real reason he was feeling cauti
