Chapter 31
Michael. I groaned as I began to wake up and I turned awkwardly on my back as I laid on the heavenly soft bed. Opening my eyes slightly, my head was pounding and there was a ghostly tingle on the knuckles of my right hand. What did I do last night? Looking at my sides, I realised that I was in an unfamiliar room. I shut my eyes tightly, trying to remember what happened yesterday. After work, I went home and had dinner. Since I was still feeling quite depressed, I took a few bottles of alcohol and was yelling at him to do something. I hummed in annoyance and opened my eyes to look at the ceiling once more. I couldn't remember anything after that. My eyes felt sore and I hoped that if my emotions got the better of me, I didn't cry in front of anyone. I sat up and immediately regretted it when the room began to spin and there was a sour taste at the back of my throat. "Ah, you're finally awake," someone said. I groggily looked up at Gabriel, who had just come in. "How did I get he

Alexia. The house was peacefully silent as Michael and I cuddled on my couch. I was happy to be in his arms after the whole baby drama had settled down and I was grateful that everybody got the message and left us to ourselves. All the fear that weighed me down just a few days ago was gone and despite the mild cramps and morning sickness that I felt because of the baby, I was okay. I hummed joyously as I snuggled into Michael's chest. I sat comfortably in between his legs and my back rested against his chest. Michael had his arms around my waist loosely as he leaned against the couch. We took our time catching up with each other in the peace of my apartment. I just wanted to make up for the time that we were apart and hopefully straighten out the edges that came with our disagreement. I didn't want things to get too complicated. "I love you, Michael," I said softly, breaking the silence that came as we almost dozed off in each other's arms. He chuckled softly. "I love you too, my

Alexia. Today was a good day. The sun was shining bright and the sky was clear. I came out of my car and looked ahead at that the large building in front of me, quickly realizing how much I had missed work.  I had spent my past days resting and exercising and I finally began to feel better. I still had cramps but they weren't that bad and even if the morning sickness was still there, I knew the times that I'd feel that way so, it was a little easier to handle. I had also found out that a cup of ginger tea before that time calmed down my nausea.  Walking into the building, I made my way to my station. To my surprise, some people greeted me while others asked where I had been and if I was feeling okay. This was unusual for me and I felt mildly uncomfortable that people kept stopping me on my usually incognito walk upstairs. I didn't think that they cared about it and I wondered if they had heard about what happe

Alexia. Luis had finally come back from her bathroom break and she seemed more composed than she was before she left. The friendly and fun atmosphere was back as we took our time enjoying each other's company. The three of us talked about a few more things before an idea hit me. "What about a double date?" I blurted and my best friends looked at me in shock. "What!?" They both exclaimed. "I've always wanted to experience having a double date so, why don't you guys come along with Michael and I?" "And be third wheelers?" Luis asked as if that was the worst thing to ever do. "You guys don't bother to hide your affection for each other." "I never thought that the day would come when I'm just a side character," Tony said, looking beyond disappointed at what I just said. "You guys aren't understanding this, are you?" I asked, feeling a little frustrated that they were taking it the wrong way. Couldn't they see as much opportunity in this as I did? "Then what do you mean?" Luis asked

Alexia. I stared at him for a moment. I wasn't expecting this at all and my brain was having a hard time catching up. Was Michael seriously proposing to me? This was like a dream. "Yes!" I yelled as tears of joy rolled down my face. He grinned and everyone clapped for us. Suddenly, there was a popping sound and flower petals fell from the ceiling at the area where we were standing. Everybody's soft claps turned into loud cheers and I couldn't believe how much effort Michael had put into this. He stood up and I gave him my hand before he slipped the ring on my finger. Pulling me into his arms, he pressed his lips against mine and I was quick to respond. I pulled away from the kiss. "I love you," I said as I tried to wipe away the tears. He laughed fondly and gave me a soft peck. "I love you too."   "Congratulations!" Luis said as she suddenly wrapped her arms around us. "I'm glad that I

Michael. I sighed as I looked at the computer screen in front of me. Just when I thought that the day would go slow, I received a large document that had to be read through and confirmed.  Having a slow day in the cooperate world wasn't a good thing. In fact, you'd be a discouraged if things were going so slow that progress was almost non-existent, but as much as I liked a good day of work, I just wanted to find time to talk with Alexia today. Today was a very special day and I couldn't wait for work hours to end. Actually, we were leaving early because we had to go to the hospital to check up on the baby and had a trip after that. I was excited and I didn't know what to expect but I was happy that we got to experience this. The door opened and I looked up from my work at Gabriel. He looked mildly angry and quickly walked to his desk before sitting down. Letting out a heavy sigh, he put his files on the table and turned on his comp

Michael. "Alexia!" Mrs. Dawson squealed excitedly as she rushed to her daughter and wrapped her arms around her.Alexia's mother was a tall, slim woman with hair that matched Alexia's. She had brown eyes and small wrinkles graced her forehead. Mrs. Dawson was taller than Alex and it made me wonder where she got her height from."Hi, mom," Alex laughed. "If this hug gets any tighter, I'll die.""Don't say that," she said as she pulled away from the hug but kept her hands on Alex's shoulders. "I've missed you so much, dear. How have you been?""I've been okay and I missed you too, Mom.""Okay. It's Dad's turn now," Mr. Dawson said with a light chuckle as he walked closer to them and I realized that he was shorter than his wife. He was a slightly chubby man with a short beard and black hair. Just from the way he spoke, I could tell that he was very fond of Alexia. Seeing them so glad to see her made me feel warm

Alexia. The morning sun's rays peeked into the room through the spaces in-between the curtains. It was a quiet morning and I sank deeper into Michael's arms as I enjoyed his warmth. We were in my old bedroom and my parents had tidied it up quite nicely that you couldn't tell that it wasn't used for the past six years. They also made my room more mature to match up with my current age but didn't do the same with the bed so, Michael and I had to squeeze in.I didn't mind it much because I couldn't pass up an opportunity to cuddle with Michael but then, it wasn't the most comfortable position to maintain over a long period of time. I wondered how Michael felt about this since his feet were over the edge."I'm tired," I groaned into his chest. The time we spent with my parents last night didn't go as well as I expected, especially between Michael and Dad. I was worried and thought of how I could make Dad's heart soften for him but after d

Alexia.I hummed as I examined the document in front of me. Being unsure of what to do with it, I forwarded it to Michael and began to work on another document. Michael and I had got back a few days ago and we were back on schedule the very next day. To be honest, I felt like we took too many leave days this month and I was slightly embarrassed for taking advantage of them. I was happy to have talked with my parents and caught up with them. I was especially glad over how close Michael and my father had gotten over the short period of time that we were there. They spent most of their time together and the only time that Michael and I could properly enjoy each other's company was when it was time for bed. I found it quite amusing since my father wasn't very interested in befriending the people around me. He was a little judgmental towards others and used intimidation as a respect route since he was a short man. Despite that, he had a warm heart and I loved him to bits. My mother tal

Michael. I tried to calm my racing heart as I tapped my foot impatiently against the metal floor of the elevator. Couldn't this thing go any faster? Just as I was about to leave the office after working overtime, I received a call from Alexia. Picking it up, it was actually Luis who called and she said that somebody had broken into, and trashed, Alexia's apartment. I was baffled. Alexia's apartment had good security so, how could this be? I sighed as I looked at the numbers nearing Alexia's floor and prayed to the greater being above that she was okay. The bell of the elevator made my heart jump and I pushed past the sliding doors before they could fully open. I felt more anxious at the sight of two police officers standing outside the apartment. Some of the neighbours stood in front of their doors as they looked at the scene in worry and curiousity. I quickly spotted Luis because the red dress that she wore stood out from the colours ahead of me. She held Alexia's hands while she
