Chapter 40 - More negotiations
Sydney -   Even though the dinner was delicious and Aiden had been on his best behaviour, I couldn't help but feel nervous around him. He was a whirlwind of emotions. He hadn't touched me in several days after our conversation. He had a habit of leaving early and returning late. We did meet together for lunch and supper on occasion, but we didn't converse much. It felt strange and frustrated at the same time. Was he sick of me already?Almost every day, I paid a visit to senior Mr Reiner. I enjoyed his company. Second, there was nothing I could do at home. I was completely unaware of the activities of wealthy women. I was sitting in the study on the chaise, having just ended a talk with Mike. In a few days, he'd be in Los Angeles. I sensed that I was being watched and turned to face the door. There stood Aiden watching me, I froze. I inhaled deeply and made a little motion to stand up, but his frigid eyes locked on mine. "Don't move," he u

Chapter 41 - When things don't happen as per the expectations
Sydney I leant up close and kissed him on the lips. I waited for him to grab my mouth with his, but he stayed absolutely motionless. I gently put my tongue into his mouth till I felt it twist against his. I experimented with kissing him in numerous ways and playing with his tongue. Aiden's erection began to press on me, but he remained still. I shifted on his lap, rubbing against his abrasiveness. In his throat, he let out a deep growl. I kept kissing him and rubbing my hands across his bulge. I grabbed his jacket and yanked it off him. My fingers grabbed for his shirt buttons. I messed around with them till his chest was exposed. I broke the kiss and looked over my work. As I examined his exposed upper torso, I felt his eyes on me. But that didn't stop me from staring at him. I'd never really paid attention to him before. The hardness of his enormous, powerful arms, the muscled columns of his stomach, and the sprinkling of hair on his chest drew my attention. With my fingertips, I tr

Chapter 42 - Freaky family
Aiden That evening, I roamed around the estate till late. I attempted to sleep, but was plagued by bizarre nightmares. I fidgeted, agitated and tense, yearning in vain for some kind of peace. I wanted to see Sydney again, but I needed to take a break from her for a while. For the sake of my mental health. Sydney had managed to influence a shift in me that I didn't like. I couldn't get the image of her face out of my head, especially the way she had stared at me just before she climaxed. Aiden, thank you.... her voice echoed in my thoughts. I had never seen anything more beautiful or sensuous in my life than when she threw her head back in pleasure. I'd die a happy man if I could keep seeing her come to me over and over. Or maybe I'll get a chance to see her smile for me......once. I shook my head in an attempt to banish that thought, but the way she was smiling while talking to Mike, the way she always did with others. She appeared so relaxed and almost happy. I could never get her

Chapter 43 - What's going on ?
Aiden I had assumed that at the conclusion of my pursuit, I would be content to add her name to my list of conquests, but I was mistaken. She wasn't just another conquest for him. I'm not sure what to name it, but I wanted to keep Sydney for the rest of my life. I ruled out the notion of falling in love since the idea felt so foreign to me. However, I couldn't deny the fact that I wanted Sydney to be with me for a long time with a possessiveness I couldn't describe. My family's men never married for love; it was always for the betterment of the business. Their marriage survived, despite the fact that they had multiple affairs, but it didn't matter in the end. I brushed those thoughts aside and strolled out to one of the sessions. The conference consisted of the normal mix of meetings, presentations, and trade exhibits, and it was a huge success in terms of business. The evening of the conference was a formal event, and I was mingling with the audience when I was summoned by a familia

Chapter 44 - The gift
Sydney I stammered, giving a poor apology, "I didn't mean it that way." Mr Reiner broke out laughing, much to my amazement. I was perplexed as I watched. "Isn't it true that Aiden has you locked into a marriage contract?" He inquired. I took a deep breath and simply nodded. "I'm his grandfather, sweetheart; he may be cunning and astute, but who bestowed such characteristics on him? Of course, it's me!" His blue eyes twinkled with delight. "After years of pestering, he abruptly announced his wedding. Something didn't feel right. Then I met you, and I knew Aiden was completely over heels in love but couldn't see it. Is it true that he followed you around?" Aiden had been very explicit about his goals, so I didn't know what to say. He just didn't want any attachments with me . Of course, I wasn't going to tell his grandfather about it. "He was quite persuasive, and I didn't have a choice," I admitted quietly. "My tired legs are in desperate need of rest. Why don't we take a seat

Chapter 45 - I will never hurt you
Sydney While Leah blabbered on incessantly, I twirled my straw in my cold coffee. I had planned to catch up with Leah because it was a Saturday and I was free and bored at home. Mike had graciously declined to meet, stating that he was occupied. "Are you even listening, Sydney?" She grumbled. I raised my eyes to her. " I apologise for being a little distracted." "I understand, Aiden is back after all," she smiled. I rolled my eyes, " it's not what you are thinking. We haven't..... I mean he has been acting weird since the last few days," I said. "Weird as in?" She asked. "He's been gentler, less obnoxious, and he continues staring at me like I'm a snack!" Leah burst out laughing. "How's it going with your sex life?" I sighed exasperatedly when she asked! "Please, Leah, believe me when I say I'm serious!" I said this as I folded my arms and sat back in my chair. "Sydney, I'm serious. Is he still smitten with you? That could give us a hint about his mood." I thought back ove

Chapter 46 - Confession
Sydney I couldn't believe what I was seeing. "Its your birthday?" Aiden then produced his driver's licence, which he proudly displayed to me. "Why didn't you inform me earlier? I don't even have a present for you on your birthday." I was a little ashamed when I said it. What kind of wife is unaware of her husband's birthday ? The contractual wife? "It's fine," he murmured softly, "I don't celebrate my birthday, and I already have my gift." I averted my gaze to avoid the heat on my face as he stared at me so intently. "Happy birthday, Aiden," I said. When he smiled boyishly, his face lit up. "Thank you so much. Is it time to place our order?" He made a suggestion. "Sure, let's do it." I remarked this as I shifted my gaze to the menu. We placed our orders, and he immediately returned his gaze to me. "Have I mentioned how lovely you look tonight?" His tone was kind, almost caressing. He took my hand in his and raised it slowly to his lips, kissing my fingers. It had the sensatio

Chapter 47 - Mike's secret
Mike and his agent Rob went out of their hotel room in Spring Valley, not far away. They had just been in the tranquil, relaxed town for two days. They left for their 'work' as the night became darker. They arrived at a massive manufacturing facility that spanned acres. It was one of the Reiners' various bottling and food processing plants. Every night, hundreds of trucks loaded with soft drink bundles were delivered to warehouses, restaurants, stores, and hotels around the state. At the production plant, it was just another night. The trucks were loaded and ready to go on their journey. One of the supervisors, Elliot, was on the ground, inspecting the vehicles and drivers before they left for deliveries. He checked his ledger when he reached the 9th truck in the lineup. The driver and his assistant were already inside, waiting for permission to depart. He could see their faces in the faint light. The man in the driver's seat wore his long brown hair in a ponytail. He also had sidebur

Chapter 48 - Planning for future
Mike's phone rang as soon as he arrived in San Francisco. He had to take this call whether he liked it or not. With a disgusting look, he took the call. "Are you sure you did everything you were meant to do?" From the other end, Marilyn's sweet voice rang out. Mike said flatly, "Yes." He was enraged, but he had to keep his anger in check. He couldn't afford to get into a fight with her. "Wonderful," she responded softly, "I'll see you both at the party tomorrow, regular place." "I won't be able to make it; I have a few things to do.." Mike was about to finish when he was interrupted by another voice. "You're coming to the party, sweetheart, and don't be late!" Mike felt a shiver run down his spine when Eric's words came from the other side. Mike said, "Yes....sir." Mike was so enraged that he flung his phone across the room. Unfortunately, he couldn't do that to Eric or Marilyn. He had no choice but to obey orders or face the consequences. Sydney I awoke with a feeling unlike

Chapter 49 - Dangerous plans
Sydney After checking in and interacting with the receptionist, I proceeded to the visitor's area and sat down. After a few moments, Leah looked at me and said, "You look nervous," with a stunning look of concern on her face. "Thank you for coming along," I said, "I'm a little nervous." Leah was the only person I could confide in about my girly problems. "How is Mike doing? Has he returned yet?" I inquired. "He arrived yesterday, but he's been acting strangely since then." Leah shrugged her shoulders. "Weird?" I inquired. "When I asked him how his audition went and if he got the part, he didn't say anything. He simply stated that he was exhausted," Leah remarked. "Perhaps he didn't get the part and didn't want to discuss it?" I suggested, though I would hate to see that happen to Mike. If anyone deserved success, it would be Mike. Just then, Doctor Jeffery came out of the examination room and approached us. "Ah, Mrs Reiner, are you ready? Please come this way." I gave Leah a k
