CHAPTER 41
Gemma wanted to roll her eyes at him. He was taking advantage of this but she couldn't say she blamed him. "Fine. I'll see you tomorrow at 6pm. Don't try anything funny." She warned him strictly. A chuckle reverberated through her earpiece. "I don't know what funny thing you think I want to try but don't worry about it. I know better than to piss you off."She was relieved when she hung up. She tried not to think about him but actually keeping him out of her thoughts was a different story altogether. She couldn't focus on anything else. Everything she tried to think about ended up conjuring images of him. She had married her enemy. She had actually married her enemy. Was she insane! ___Ten years ago. Gemma jolted from her nightmare and patted her chest in horror. She was drenched in cold sweat from what felt like a whole night of fighting a beast who had tried to gobble her up. She could still feel the beast's fingers on her face even thoug

CHAPTER 42
The restaurant they met at was as its busiest at around 6pm. It was so noisy that one had to lean over the table and shout for the other to hear them. Even then, it would require the listener to know how to read lips so they would fully understand what their companion was saying. Livian's brows scrunched in displeasure as he looked at her as if asking why the hell she had to choose this, when there were so many restaurants in the city. She chuckled with a shrug and because it was too noisy for him to hear anything if she explained, she wrote a text message. [We are here to eat, not to talk.]As if that had not done enough to piss him off, she added, [And for you to sign this.]She watched him read the text messages then glance at the contract she had just slid over the table at him. He looked unhappy but signed it anyway, before replying that she was insane. She chuckled in amusement. If she knew that it felt so good to annoy him, she would have done

CHAPTER 43
Ten years ago. Being in Livian's house even after announcing her intention to leave was making her more anxious than the thought of leaving did. She didn't know what she would do once she left. Would she be employed somewhere else? She was certain that she needed to go to college before she qualified for anything that she could be proud of but that in itself was an unattainable dream. She had saved a lot of money while working for Livian—he had been overpaying her and she was painfully aware of that—but it would not be able to pay for her college tuition fees as well as secure her a place to stay. Nonetheless, she couldn't continue to live off of a man she was neither related to nor close friends with, which was basically what she had been doing since announcing her intention to quit. Livian rarely came home and when he did, she would not even notice it. He ate out or cooked his own quick meals, leaving her with only one role—keepin

CHAPTER 44
"I don't understand what you are talking about." She looked up until their eyes met and hers were filled in disbelief. He didn't just say that, did he? Well, yes he did! He just denied what he did to her that night! Her shock quickly morphed into disbelief and the tears that were threatening to fall magically dried up. Shockingly, it was almost as if all she wanted was the confirmation that he would never own up to his actions. Her stomach was in knots when she took a breath. "I should have expected that. You got rid of the scar. Of course you would erase the memory of what you did and pretend none of it happened. But do you know what my life was like after that?"His brows were drawn in confusion until he understood what she was talking about and his heart clenched. He reached to grab her hand but she swatted his away. "Don't touch me!" She took a huge step back. "I just wanted you to know that I wasn't too drunk to remember."

CHAPTER 45
"What do you really want?" She didn't believe that they had thought things through and were here to make amends. They would die before doing that and even if they came back to life afterwards, they would still think she was the villain. "We want to reconcile with you." Olivia lied. "I didn't know any of the things my son did to you. I only recently found out that I had been blaming the victim for all these years." "Ha." Gemma chuckled and grabbed her coffee which Cora had kept away, which she sipped as she watched this ridiculous show. Cora looked like she was ready to make popcorn. 'Make some for me too, please.' She thought. What exactly was Olivia expecting? That she would go down on her knees and apologize for torturing them? Fat chance. "You didn't know what your son did to me? You had no idea that he was cheating on me when he brought his girlfriend to you for an introduction? Are you not the one who advised him to set me

CHAPTER 46
"Sir, I've found something related to what you asked me to investigate." Darrell reported over the phone when Livian was on his way to his old home. "Speak." He demanded almost impatiently. "Ten years ago on the night before Gemma was to leave, someone did indeed break into your house." Livian gritted his teeth in annoyance. "I know that. Isn't that why I asked you to investigate? I want details. Tell me who broke into my house, at what time they got in and what time they left. Before you get that information, don't call me about it.""Yes sir." "Tell me about it in two days." He hung up. He knew that Darrell was questioning his decision to continue working for him. He had just indirectly given him two days to investigate everything. He knew that it was too soon but he couldn't help it. He couldn't let Gemma continue to think that he was a scumbag, and he could not let the real scumbag continue to live, probably having the

CHAPTER 47
"What are you talking about?" He grabbed Declan's collar. Although his collar had been grabbed, Declan laughed like a maniac. He was completely unfazed. "I can't believe she didn't tell you. I thought the little maid was loyal to you. It turns out she is loyal to no one but herself."Livian squeezed the idiot's neck in fury. "Go ahead and kill me. Then you will never know what happened." Declan shrugged as if being choked didn't matter. It wasn't only about the maid. If Charles were to see this kind of scene and think Livian had a motive to murder his brother, the result would be entertaining. Seeing the sinister smirk on his half brother's face, Livian realized that it was a trap but he didn't care. "Speak!" He roared. "Are you going to kill your brother for her? She isn't even a good lay anyway. She's a dead fish." Livian punched him before he could let out the next part of his taunt. He didn't hear any more of

CHAPTER 48
"You better be telling us the truth. If I learn that you are trying to cover up for a scumbag by lying in his favor, I will not be happy about it." William warned for the umpteenth time. He didn't completely believe the tale that Gemma had woven about Livian wanting to be a model in disguise. She laughed awkwardly.  "There is nothing else to it." She was not nearly as professional at lying as Livian was so she hoped she would not forget her lie and end up exposing the truth at the most unexpected time. When she was young, she liked sneaking out of the orphanage to play outside but every time the director asked her where she had been, she would tell a lie. She soon discovered that she was lying so one day, she tested Gemma by asking if she enjoyed her time at the ancient city library. When she said that she had never been to the ancient library, she called her out on the lie she had told four days ago. Since then, Gemma would write her lies down

CHAPTER 49
Gemma had her chauffeur enter Livian's location and they set off to find him. Halfway through the ride, a strange feeling settled in the pit of her stomach. What if they went all the way to find him and he had already left? It was not impossible considering she had ghosted him for hours. He wouldn't be to blame for seeking help elsewhere either. She should be happy for him if someone else helped him but instead, the thought left a bitter taste in her mouth. She inwardly cursed and scolded herself for being unreasonable. Why should he keep waiting for her? "Do you think we can go any faster?" She asked the chauffeur for the umpteenth time. "We are already at the speed limit, ma'am. We will waste a lot of time if we get an overspeeding ticket." He responded regrettably before glancing at the map. "Don't worry, we will be there soon." She relaxed a little at his words and tried not to think about Livian. She should be focusing on the scenery.

CHAPTER 50
Livian spun with Gemma in his arms and trapped her between the trunk of the car and his body. "Livian…" her tone was full of complaint as she wanted him to keep holding her, to grind against her core like he was doing before he put her down. It felt so great that she thought she would come undone from the sensation. He gathered her hands behind her back and restrained them with one hand as the other cupped her face. He traced his thumb against her lips that were swollen from the ferocity of his kiss. "Did you dress up for me?" He asked. She hesitated and shook her head. "No." "No?" He chuckled as his fingers traced down her jaw, to her neck. He held her head back and found the front of her neck, kissing and sucking on it until she gasped. "Your body tells me a different story." He taunted before his head sunk into her chest. He kissed the exposed part of her boobs and nipped it, sending a pleasurable shiver down her spine
