Chapter 1
“Laura!” Xander’s voice called for me echoing around the dining room. I glanced up away from my drawing book to see his adorable face grinning at me. Xander was the son of my Alpha, my future Alpha and I was 99% sure my destined mate. He had a mop of dark brown messy hair and striking green eyes that he got from his mother the Luna Ashly. He gestured with his hand for me to follow him as he raced out of the room. I giggled to myself as my heart fluttered wondering what had got him all riled up. I followed him with haste, thinking about how lucky I was to have been taken in by the Alpha and Luna after my parent's deaths. “Wait up Xander!” I called with a huff unable to catch up to him, for a moment I wondered if he had been working out as normally I could keep up. He turned his head to smirk at me before running faster and I felt a pang of annoyance at his teasing. I chased him out through the front doors of our packhouse into the surrounding woods. I loved th

Chapter 2
Once I felt like I was strong enough to not break down into tears at the first person I ran into, I returned to the packhouse. I held my head high as I walked towards my old room, slowing down my pace secretly hoping I would accidentally run into Xander. I mean I had promised the Luna I would try and stay away from him but if we just bumped into each other I couldn’t really get into trouble for that. I felt a splutter of longing in my heart as I looked around for any sign of him, staring perhaps for too long at his bedroom door. His room was silent as the rest of this floor. He wasn’t here. I sighed holding back the disappointment as I opened the door to the room I had called mine which sat opposite his. I loved this room, it was a mix of blues and whites as the Luna had decorated it for her daughter. She, unfortunately, was unable to have children after Xander but got me as an adoptive one. A touch of silver lined the tops of the blue-painted walls giving it an elegant

Chapter 3
Why is it so cold first thing in the morning? I thought scowling as I rugged up in my blanket before dragging my feet to the kitchen. My first night in a different bed wasn’t too bad even if I had cried myself to sleep knowing that for some reason the Luna and Alpha refused to accept me as Xander’s mate. I took solace in the fact that I would prove them both wrong in a few weeks.“Morning sleepy head” Domini grinned at my scowling face as he made pancakes.I poked my tongue out at him taking a seat at the island, glancing out at the window past the balcony to see the world was still dark.“Why in Goddess’s name do I have to be awake so early?”Domini chuckled, “cause my house, my rules” he winked playfully as he sat down a plate of pancakes and a hot cup of coffee.“Besides, I need to be at the training grounds first to set everything up and well… I’m going to make you help.&r

Chapter 4
I felt awful, embarrassed, hurt, and idiotic. How could I have let myself believe that he would still like me? After all, what did I even have to offer him? Still, part of me had hoped and prayed that nothing would have changed. Yes, the Alpha and Luna were against our relationship but so was every other adult! It had never stopped him before! I aggressively turned over in my bed snuggling myself tighter into the blankets letting my tears flow freely. The stares from my other classmates haunting me, their looks of pity drilled into my conscious. With the deep glare from that stranger mixing in with them, suddenly they started laughing… a course of horrendous laughing and pointing. “What a pathetic excuse for a wolf!” “Of course he doesn’t want you!” “Stupid girl!” I tried to run away from them but fell over my own two feet. Their laughter got louder, even Ellen stood over me sniggering. “As if an Alpha’s son would lower himself to be with you,

Chapter 5
Ellen and I had been in such deep conversation neither of us noticed another person approaching us until she spoke. “Wow, Ellen. I didn’t think you would still insist on pitying this loser now you shifted.” I looked up not bothering to mask my hatred at Sam, towering over me. She had a smirk playing on her thin brightly colored lips, her eyes amused. Ellen rolled her eyes before scoffing “Sam, we are never going to be friends you know that right?” Sam looked at Ellen shocked as if she had believed they were friends. I suppose I could understand why Sam insisted on trying to be her friend, they were both blondes, both considered the most attractive of our class and both had a bit of a bitchy attitude. “So you’re okay with being seen with a loser?” She glanced at me, that smug smile returning. “Or did you not hear? She ran off cowering this morning all because Xander finally woke up and realized he can do better.” I felt my cheeks fl

Chapter 6
I crept around the packhouse doing my best to sneak into the house-keepers room without being spotted, fear that I would be ridiculed made my heart panic. However, that was silly of me because as soon as I opened the door I saw a lot of my fellow students getting ready to do daily tasks.“Oh, Laura! I’m surprised to see you here!” A girl with wavy red hair called out giving me a small wave and warm smile.I returned her smile as I tried to recall her name, she rolled her eyes before grasping my hand in a handshake.“Bella, seriously Laura I knew you were shy but we have been sitting next to each other for years!” Her voice was light and kind but that still did not stop the embarrassment to consume me. As always my cheeks flushed hot red as I struggled to make eye contact. She raised her eyebrow quizzically but changed the subject.“So, we were all just discussing what floor we were going to do. Have you done any housekeeping before?”“No… umm” I ma

Chapter 7
My eyes hurt from the hours of crying but my heart felt a little better. Almost relieved. I stood from my bed and stretched out my arms, smiling as my bones cracked. For a moment I wondered where Domini was as he should have returned by this point but shrugged it off. He was a grown man and I wasn’t his mother. I felt tempted to have a shower knowing it would freshen me up, however, a surge of hunger beckoned me to the kitchen. I was sat at the breakfast bench about to gorge myself on a freshly cooked steak as the door slammed open. I jumped looking at an angry Domini and Alpha Clide entering. My heart hammered with nerves as Alpha gave me an apologetic look as Domini seemed to be seething in anger. “Good evening my dear,” Alpha called to me in a soothing tone “I’m afraid I will need you to take leave for an hour or so.” I glanced to Domini as he nodded a curt yes, I looked at my steak painted as

Chapter 8
“Are you stalking me or something?” Fear should have gripped me as I realized, I was speaking, and yet none came. I felt more annoyed than anything else.Bella gasped in shock next to me but kept her head lowered, Victor snarled at me his smirk turning into an annoyed frown.“You are an insolent pup; I would have thought someone would have taught you respect.” His tone was aggressive, causing poor Bella to tremble more. That really pissed me off.“Where do YOU get off?” I felt my eyes narrow as I glared at him. “Not only talking down to people but acting like you are a god amongst us.”His frown deepened as his eyes turned dark, I felt a spark of excitement as he stomped towards me, Bella was practically crying in fear but I kept my head up. He stopped just in front of me, towering over my shorter stature. His body was shaking in rage but something inside of me refused to look away. My mind was suddenly hype

Chapter 9
No one had spoken, the air was almost thick with uneasiness as I glanced between the staring contest currently taking place between Alpha Clide and Domini. I let out a frustrated sigh as they both glanced at me surprised at the sudden sound. “Is anyone going to start this ‘grown up’ conversation or can I go to bed?” I asked a little agitated. Domini stared expectantly at Alpha Clide, I was shocked to see him nervously shift his weight again staring down at his clasped hands. “Well… you see…” he glanced to Domini pleadingly but Domini shook his head pursing his lips closed. Clide sighed deeply closing his eyes. “Laura, I know myself and the Luna have not really included you in a lot of things….” He started again before stopping looking again at Domini as if hoping he would take over. He shook his head again a look of disdain on his face. “Alpha, this is your mess.” I gasped shocked at Domini’s tone but he paid me no attention, staring a

Chapter 10
For the life of me, I was unable to track down the Luna. It was as if she was avoiding me. I leaned against the wall of the main entrance to the packhouse, closing my eyes to think. Everyone I had spoken to today had directed me to where the Luna was supposed to be, but as soon as I arrived she was gone. I let out an agitated groan running my fingers through my hair trying to think of why she would be doing this? Perhaps the Alpha had told her I was upset? But that surely wouldn’t make her dodge me?“Laura?” An instant smile spread across my face as I opened my eyes to see Micheal standing nervously near me.“Micheal!” I exclaimed before hugging him tightly, “where on earth have you been?”He chuckled returning my hug.“Did Ellen not mention I… needed to take a leave of absence?” His voice shook a little with embarrassment.I pulled back to see him looking around at the crowd of people co
