Chapter 31
I woke up with a jolt in an unfamiliar bed, groaning in agitation for passing out again. Makayla’s deceased body swarming my mind, her face mixing with Luna Ashly’s. I glanced around this room noticing the wooden walls and minimal furniture realizing I was inside the cabin. I threw the sheets off of myself before jumping up a bit too quickly, falling back down on the bed. I frowned confused before getting up a bit slower. I felt oddly shaken on my own weight as if my legs could give out again at any moment. I groaned and slapped my thigh with frustration before walking towards the only window in the cabin. It was a large double door window that was currently covered by black-out curtains, ‘odd’ I thought. I reached out to pull the curtains back as Domini rushed up and slapped my hand away, his concerned face glaring at me.“Laura? What the hell are you thinking?” He asked as if I was a stupid toddler.I gave him a confused look, befo

Bella and Anya had set up almost our own mini boutique inside the cabin, I honestly was nervous. I had never seen so much make-up or hair products at once.“Sit” Anya commanded as she patted a dining chair she had placed in the middle of the room.I eyed her nervously as Bella giggled before beaming at me.“You are going to look as good as the Goddess, trust me! Anya is so talented!”I returned a small smile to her as Anya picked up a strangely shaped hairbrush that was plugged into the wall, it let off steam. Anya began to work the thing through my hair as she and Bella giggled at each other. Honestly, my smile was genuine watching their antics, you could truly feel how absolutely smitten they were with each other.“Okay, I’m going to need you to half close your eyes for me” Anya requested holding a black vial.“It’s mascara,” She said seeing my expression while rolling her eyes.

Chapter 33
My heart was pounding like it was threatening to escape my chest as Victor let out a low loud growl. His black eyes glued to Xander as he shook violently in his grasp. I was momentarily taken aback as I noticed he was without a shirt, watching his muscles clench as I felt his pure rage roll through the air. He began walking away with Xander pretty much on the verge of pissing himself but he did not look at me, did not even acknowledge my existence. As they left I felt the air turn cold and stiff as I felt oddly hurt. I was thankful that he had stepped in, knowing the danger I had been in but why would he not even look at me? I frowned as I stared at where they had disappeared too wondering if he would hurt Xander, a part of me hoped he would. “You are my mate.” Xander’s words swam in my mind as my heart broke, those words I had wanted to hear for so long. I had dreamed of. Finally, he said them, and yet. After everything, he had done to me and said I couldn’t believe it. I b

Chapter 34
“Attention everyone!” Alpha Clide called outstanding from his table and looking around happily. “It brings me great pleasure to host every one of you tonight! For this wondrous time of peace!” There was applause and cheering from the crowd. “Now we have signed this treaty we can move forward as one, I know that a lot of you have lost many friends, family, and loved ones.” Soft sniffles and sobs echoed out as the collective grief could be felt. “Now, each and every one of you are welcome to travel between pack lands and seek shelter when needed. We will find whoever is responsible for this travesty and destroy them.” Cheering and applause erupted as Alpha Clide smiled more, his eyes darkening with his words as my mind dwelled on Luna Ashly and Makayla feeling the same drive to kill those responsible. “Now! We have more excellent news!” Alpha Clide spoke after a few moments as the crowd began to mutter with curiosity, many of my

As we re-entered the clearing I was pleasantly surprised to see nothing had changed, people were still talking and laughing amongst themselves. I grinned as Bella and Anya were still slow dancing by themselves blissfully staring into each other’s eyes as I spied Ellen making her way towards me. I gave her a wicked grin before glancing at Domini who was not looking her way.“Hey.” She breathed nervously glancing at Domini expectantly, he did not look at her and simply nodded before walking off.Ellen’s face dropped as I stared daggers at Domini’s back. How could he ignore her like that? His mate? How different he was acting compared to Anya or Bella.“Domini?” I asked with a bit of that agitation, he turned to say something when he stopped dead finally noticing Ellen.I couldn’t help the smirk as his eyes bulged and darkened before his face turned stern.“Why the fuck are you wearing that?”

Chapter 36
I found myself in a strange place, it was too dark for me to make out shapes of well… anything. A mist-like being stood before me, a strange sense of familiarity drew me in as if I was supposed to not only know this thing but something more. “Laura…” it whispered with urgency. “You must… drink… protect them” It practically hissed as it swarmed around me, the mist almost licking my skin. I yelped as the mist left cold spots where it had touched my skin. That same black ooze from my last dream leaking from the spots. “Laura…” it egged me on as I touched the liquid. It was hot, sticky, and viscous. I took my finger to my lips and licked it. Surprised at its sweet, moreish taste. Suddenly the world shifted around me, I was surrounded by strangers all staring at me with anticipation. Their faces were distorted, a mixture of human and wolf features but yet sinister. One of them growled as they quickly turned angry. “No wolf.” They started gr

Chapter 37
“You seriously didn’t consider that you would be leaving so soon?” She sighed before hugging me “Laura, my sweet, slow Laura.” I pulled away and slapped her arm, she looked at me surprised as she rubbed the spot I hit. “Ow, when did you get so strong?” I looked at her mortified as she pouted before staring intensely at the ground. “Did you… did you shift?” Ellen asked excitedly as I gulped. “No… no, you would be more excited if that happened… Laura… what happened?” Her voice was full of concern and confusion as I felt all words leave me. I wanted to tell her, but I couldn’t stand the thought of her hating me… “Laura?” She asked again putting her hands on my shoulders. I tried to shrug off her grip but she held on tighter, I could feel her stare as my palms began sweating. She sighed before jerking my face up, her face stern waiting for my response. “I… I bit him…” She let go of me relieved and smirking.

A letter from the Author (Bonus chapter of a mad man)
Hello, my dear readers! I want to thank you all for your ongoing support and attention to this novel. As mentioned in my last author's note I have received some comments that my chapters are too long, after long consideration, I am planning to continue them at their current length.  I also have social media account's you can follow for questions or just to send me feedback, just search Rees J Jones and my Author Picture should pop up on said profile :) Now, there has been a delay between chapter updates and there are good reasons for that but I won't go into too much detail. I have some chapters almost ready for release however thought I would give you this mini-chapter to tie you over.     Inside Victor's mind.  If you had told me before I got to Slate pack that I, Victor, would have found his mate I would have laughed at your cruel joke. Yet, here I was. Freshly married to the girl the Goddess had hand-picked to be m

Chapter 38
I was enjoying this strange sense of peace as Ellen and I walked back towards the guest floor where Victor surely would be, but, when we opened the hall doors to the stairwell we were both taken aback in surprise. There were people running around everywhere, sobbing, frantic faces dashing past us. I shared a worried look with Ellen, there was no way Victor had caused this mess. “What’s going on?” Ellen asked a stranger grabbing her arm and yanking her to face us. She was younger than both of us, her swollen eyes and red nose gave away her grief as I felt my heart stutter. Had someone else been killed? “Luna…” She choked out before bursting into inconsolable tears. My heart stopped, the world slowed as I stared at her. Ellen shaking her with her own panic. “What about the Luna?” “She’s gone!” The girl wept as Ellen and I stood in shock, disbelief, and grief. Both of us running to the pack house’s medical ward, neither of us spok

Chapter 39
Ellen’s P.O.V Days had passed, Laura was getting better but still was comatose. I felt… useless. I couldn’t tell anyone what Herman had told me, I trusted what he was saying without words. I might not have understood the whole thing but I knew just how serious he was being. I let out a heavy breath not realizing I had been holding it in as I glanced at Laura, her skin was greenish now the bruising had subsided. I had been taking turns watching over her with Bella. Domini, Anya, and Alpha Victor had to return to Crimson pack territory. We were being permitted to stay until Laura could walk, in Luna Ashly’s memory. I clenched my jaw thinking back to Alpha Clide’s visit that very same night he had beaten Laura to a pulp. “Ellen.” Alpha Clide’s eyes darted to Laura, darkening and narrowing at her body. “I am only allowing you to care for… it… her as the last gift from my Luna.” I glanced at Xander, standing behind his father a look of utter bewilderment at his to
