Chapter 31
My breath hitches at the charming smile and those deep set baby blue eyes.   "Eavesdropping isn't good manners, barbie doll." He leans closer to me, his thumb tracing my cheek.    "I-I-" Nothing comes out of my mouth except air. Bloody hell! Why am I stammering?    Tristian exhales and pulls away his face, his soft eyes hardening. "What were you doing here? And how much did you hear?"    I gulp in the lump formed in my throat. Get a grip on yourself! Clearing my throat, I manage to speak. "Ahem...I didn't hear much but what were you talking about?"    "Nothing of your importance, love." Tristian smiles, his eyes glittering under the light of the night lamps on the corridor. I clench my teeth. I pretty much guessed that he wasn't one of those to talk about the secrets of this academy.    His arms that are holding me capti

Chapter 32
"So, what's in your head?"Tessa sits on her bed and looks at me with a frown.  "It's simple." I start. "We need to stay away from our 'fated' mates." I bend my first two fingers in a quoted gesture.  "I know…But how are we going to do that?" She folds her leg on the bed and puts a pillow on her lap.  "We stay inside this room after the classes are over."I point my index finger on the floor.  "Umm…" Tessa scratches her head. "...but don't we have classes to attend?"  "Yes, we do." I put my arms on my hips and start walking around the room. "But we need to avoid staying out after the classes are over. We will stay here once the classes have finished."  "But what about Alex? We won't be able to meet him if we stay inside. And you forget that we need to practice our skills. We can't do that around the four

The screeching sound of furniture against the wooden floor deafens me and I cup my ears with my palm. Tessa pushes the last table towards the end of the room, leaving a wide space in between enough for one person to practice.  "Phew!" She straightens her back and wipes out her sweat from her forehead. "It seems our room is now transformed into a mini football ground."  I put my arms away from my ears and place them on my hips. "Mini football ground doesn't really cut it but it'll do for now." I say and stand in the middle of our room. Our beds are pushed to the other side of the room beside the seating arrangement. The only issue is that the bathroom is quite in proximity to the beds.  "Okay!" Tessa exhales and looks around. "Let's begin."  I position myself in the way Professor Sheila had taught us and look at the wooden wall in front. Tessa circles around me and th

Silence. The only sound of the clock ticking on the wall and the fan blades rotating stay profound in the room. Tessa stands like a statue in front of the broken fragments of my violence, her chin resting on the back of her hand. Meanwhile my dad's words and actions float inside me. Is mom safe? Was it a mistake to leave her alone with dad?  "Over fried burgers! I can't think of any idea of how we can clean all this up." Tessa whines.  "Maybe we should just keep it all hidden here and later we can work on how to transport it to the store room." I say,my eyes remaining on the grey windowsill. Strange that in the illusion of mine, the colour was a dark red. Or maybe it appears red because of the pale blue light in the room. But the darkness outside… "Cinn? Cinn?" Someone jerks my shoulder breaking my thoughts and I turn around to find Tessa standing with her forehead folding into stress lines

Chapter 35
The entire crowd of students and professors keep their gazes on our Headmaster.  "I feel honoured to announce to you all about the upcoming biweekly contest. As per the guidelines set by the true founder of this academy, late Mr. Aizech Rohl the contest will take place every two weeks and depending on the performance of the students, the marks will be graded. The students in their respective category of a pack and a coven get to embed their name as the competitor in the Annual Competition if…" he raises his index finger. " ... they manage to win two competitions out of the seven that will be held. If someone fails to complete the challenges in the first few contests, then do not worry. Everyone will be given the opportunity to take part in every contest irrespective of their performance in the previous one." The crowd of students start whispering.  "Also, the challenges will get a level higher with each round.

Chapter 36
I stare at him for a moment before Tessa shakes me and I snap back to reality. Focus Aurora! Peter. Tessa. Garden. Tristian! His name sparks something hot inside me. Is this is what called having butterflies in your stomach? Ugh!!! What am I thinking??? Fuck the butterflies! Snap to bitch mode. I narrow my eyes into slits and cross my arms over my chest. "For a moment I was relieved that you have left this place." I give a sarcastic smile.  Tristian chuckles. "Why would I leave this place? It's almost like my second home." He looks around the garden.  "It is?" I say out before I can think it through.  "Yeah. So…" his lips curve into an oval. "I am pretty much allowed to stay in my home in case you were thinking about kicking me out." He winks.  "Are you not punished by the academy because you do not seem to attend the classes?" Tessa asks.

Chapter 37
Knock knock.  I knock on the door for the third time. Bloody MoonGod! Why the fuck has Tessa even locked the door? After grunting and murmuring some incoherent words for my dearest friend, I pull out my phone and dial Tessa's number. The call is received at the third ring.  "Hello, Cinn?" She says, her voice feigning innocence. Awesome!  "Idiot! Open the bloody door! Do you plan to keep me out?" I shout at her.  "Salty sugars! It's you! Wait, wait." The call  hangs up and the door clicks open with Tessa's head protruding out of the gap.  I step inside my room which I was forbidden to enter a few minutes ago. "What exactly were you thinking when you locked the door?" I cross my arms and narrow my eyes "I was scared, you know. After the Headmaster called you I thought that someone might come to check in this room and

Chapter 38
My eyes freeze at the name on the screen. Bloody hell! I never knew the guy I hate so much will turn out to be the head of this Academy. Also the champion of the Annual Competition! Not even once, but three times he claimed the title! How's that possible? It reminds me of the first day I entered this Academy. I saw his name on the board and maybe his qualification was written beside it. But he never brags about it.  "It is quite shocking, I know. But he is the Alpha of the pack so I guess it's not that weird." Tessa says and takes the phone from my hand.  "But Tessa! He is the Annual Competition Champion! Three times! How is that even possible for a guy like him?" I say, but I don't surely mean it. To be honest, he looks powerful but also very down to earth. Out of all the people here, he never insulted me about my incapability when he could have easily done that.  Tessa pops her lips and star

Chapter 39
My heart beats rapidly in my chest as I run past the trees. Everything blurs into a green and grey mist. Something is chasing me. I don't know what it is yet the feeling doesn't lift up my chest. Nothing appears clear, except a trail of tall trees. The canopy is so thick that the sunlight barely passes through it. Where the fuck am I? Before I can intercept, I trip over something hard and fall on the ground.  "Fuck!" My eyes fly open and the blades of the ceiling fan come into my sight. How did I come here? Wasn't I in some forest? Moving up slowly, I look over the place until I hear a sound. I snap at the direction of the sound and find Tessa sleeping on the other bed. The sound comes from her. She is snoring. But what is she doing here? I look around the place until I realise that it's my room. Bloody hell! I hold my chest and feel wet. The scary dream made me sweat like crazy. So, I step out of the bed and walk over to the washroom to chang

Chapter 40
Professor Harold blows his whistle as we gather at the back of the building. I never expected the back of this building to be so huge. The land we stand on is a huge field with forests, caves and small buildings.  "Today is all about your first contest! Make it count!" He shouts and I look around the crowd of students gathered. There are students of the lower packs. But I don't find him anywhere. Is he running late?  "I feel jittery in my skin." Tessa shakes her arms.  "Don't worry. I will be there with you." I say Professor Sheila joins us. She stands beside Professor Harold who gives her an uncanny look and turns around. "Welcome all my lovely students. You all look prepared. As per the rules, you all will be distributed in teams with two people in each. To make the decision…" She nods her head towards Professor Harold who then brings a glass bowl of white chits
