Chapter 11
Out in the Open Lyle and Luka were shocked, stunned, Silent. They could feel each other's emotions, hear the questions in each other's heads, but on the outside, no one could tell. Rosalie touched Lyles arm gently and tried to speak to him but he just shook his head gently at her and excused himself. Luka on the other hand sat at the table, looking ahead. He could not explain but how, but now he knew for sure that the person whose voice in his head was hit, Mate. Her whispered words “wait for me”, did not sound very reassuring. Probably because she was not close by, or he would not be meeting her any time soon. Somehow she managed to connect with him through their mate bond to offer him some hope, but he still did not understand why. Lyle had to get out of the house and get some fresh air. Luka's emotions were so strong and raw, it was clawing at Lyle. He pitied his twin. He understood the respon

Lyle and Rosalie Completing the Mate Bond   After returning to the castle, Lyle went in search of Rosalie and found her lounging in the parlour. Her hair was open and hung down to her breasts. She had on a simple white long dress with a green ribbon tied around the waste. She looked ethereal. So pure. His heartstrings pulled at the sight of her. Rosalie sensed his presence and turned to look at him. As their eyes met sparks ignited. Rosalie could see flames at the corners of Lyles’ eyes, she felt the heat resonate deep within her core. She wasn’t sure if it was because of what King Alexander had shared with them, but both Lyle and Rosalie needed to complete the mate bond. They were feeling far to edgy and needy and their wolves were getting very restless inside them, having not completed the bond.   Since Lyle found his mate, she automatically became a member of his pack and shared a mind link with him. Right now Lyle could

1 Month Later It has been 30 days since the Twins had turned eighteen. A New moon, a full moon, and still Luka Had not found his mate. Even his wolf Drago had changed. Usually, his voice was a prominent feature in his mind, but after finding out the truth about the fate of the world being tied to them fining their mate, he had become uncharacteristically quiet. Luke reached into the far corners of his mind, coaxing his wolf out. He could feel him stir, but something felt different. “Where have you been hiding?”, he asked Drago. “I’m not hiding, I’m just processing everything that Queen Irina said to you. It is really a lot to take in and deal with. The implications of not finding our mate is huge”, replied Drago. Luka thought about this for a few minutes before he said, “It has been thirty days since we turned eighteen. Thirty days is nothing compared to 2000 years. If I am going to

Unfamiliar Scent It was now three months since the Twins became Alpha, up until now life was pretty simple, easy-going. Boring even. Luka did not have much to do so he decided to coax his wolf out and go for a run. They both could do with the feel of the earth beneath their paws. Drago was excited about the run and emerged almost as soon as Luka reached for him. Bounding towards the edge of the cliff and then over the steep terrain, Drago was in his element. He was a huge wolf. Being an Alpha he was bigger than most of the wolves his age and even older. He had a thick black coat of fur, and eyes as black as the night, but if you looked carefully at his eyes, it looked like swirls of huge waves were crashing within them. He was a magnificent beast. Both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. There was no mistaking that he was an Alpha. Luka missed running in his wolf form with his brother. Lyle and Rosalie spent most of t

Pack Gathering That evening Luka and Lyle had sent word to their pack and the surround packs via the mind link and through word of mouth that a meeting was to be held at their castle grounds. There were over 1000 wolves gathered, both men and women, eagerly awaiting what the new Alphas were to announce. Since Luka had gotten the first trace of the foreign scent, and his sense of smell was more acute than King Alexander and Lyle, he led the meeting. “Welcome pack members. This is the first meeting which you are attending where Lyle and myself have taken over as Alphas. Thank you for being here. As much as I would like to rely good news to you, I am not sure what I am about to share with you, bodes well for us.” There was a lot of hushed whispers amongst the crowd, everyone looked concerned. What Could Alpha Luka be talking about. Luka continued, “Today while I was out for a run, my wolf Drago scented a foreign smell over the cli

One of Many Dreams   With so much on his mind, Luka had many dreams that night, but the one which stood out the most was the dream with the Moon Goddess. She had visited Luka for the first time. “Luka, I am the Moon Goddess. I know your every past and your very future. I know your present thoughts, fears, and hopes, and I am here to guide you. You need to create a practice that will be adopted and passed down from pack to pack and treated as law amongst all the werewolves. You are going to select a werewolf from your pack who you can trust and train, to be your right-hand man. You can have more than one. You will refer to this werewolf as your Beta. He will be your trusted Ali, one whom you will train in battle and strategize with, share pack secrets with, and who will put your life above their own. The same will go for Lyle and every Alpha that is to emerge hereafter. What you may not know is that although your parents were the first of their k

New Truths The Twins found the King sitting in the parlor on the 2nd floor. Lyle could feel the tension rolling off his father even before he could approach him. King Alexander looked up anxiously and started speaking at once. “Luka, what else did the Moon Goddess say? How is it that there are other werewolf packs that I as the King am not even aware off. When will the attack from the rouge pack occur and what is this notion of choosing werewolves to become Betas. Why is she asking you to do all of this?” Luka was equally as stressed as his dad but did not have any concrete answers for him. “In my dream she did most of the talking, from what I gathered though is that I need to pave the traditions for the generations to come. I need to create a law, a way of life for the wolves to follow. From what I could tell, this explains why I had not found my mate immediately after turning eighteen.   “I do not want to waste too much time

The Beta Ceremony The next evening all the pack members and neighbouring packs gathered on the outside field as instructed by the Alphas. There were even more members present than at the previous gathering. King Alexander and the Twins walked through the crowd, each holding a long wooden stick in their right hand, and approached the front of the crowd. At the front of the crowd, There were 2 large fires burning on either side of 3 large wooden chairs. The king gestured for everyone to be silent, at once a silent hum broke across the crowd. “Thank you all for gathering here this evening. Let us commence the evening's event by first giving thanks to the Moon Goddess. Raise your hands up towards the moon, with your head held high, repeat after me. Praises and Glory be bestowed upon the, o Moon Goddess of our People, Moon Goddess of our land. Direct and lead us and usher us in when we lead astray. Thank you for insight, th

Training Day 1It was 4am and the sun was already out, which was rather strange as the sun usually rose at 5am this time of the year, thought Lyle. He tried to remember when his father had taught him and his siblings about the time or how to tell the time, and when he had shown him the first time telling device. He and Luka must have been 6 years old at that time. He remembered the few meetings that the King had held with other members of the pack demonstrating to them how to tell the time and showing them how to construct the time-telling devices and the teachings which he had done over the mind link. Snapping out of the memory he saw Luka approaching. His twin hadn’t looked like himself for some time now. Lyle felt guilty because he had been spending most of his time with Rosalie and had not been keeping up with Luka as much. They usually always discussed everything but of recent there had been an unintentional distance between th

Training Day 2 Today was a better day overall thought, Luka. Separating the children from the adults made such a huge difference. The lessons were almost seamless, the children learnt a lot faster than the adults and progressed ahead of them in terms of the content being taught. The self-defence and combat training was the highlight of everyone’s day. It almost seemed as though everyone used this part of the day to blow of steam. Being werewolves, the pack's reflexes were better than normal people, even from as little as the children. Combat and survival instincts came naturally so almost everyone faired well. There were a few of the pack members who were a little clumsy and who walked and fought as if they had two left feet, but where they lacked in combat skill, they made up for in the reading and writing and arithmetic classes. Luka could tell that the Rest of the Royal Family and the Betas shared his sentiments. Surprisingly Luka notic
