Outcast
CHLOE POV   Haven goes silent as our eyes take in Outcast for the first time. My gasp gets caught in my throat as my mind explodes. I have never seen anything more beautiful or more terrifying in my entire life.   The design of the train tracks gives us an almost aerial view of the massive city positioned in between a few mountains, and it's scary how different it looks from home. The buildings within the city's center are taller than anything I could ever imagine a wolf building. Wolves love the Earth. We don't enjoy heights, but the wolves who built this place ignored that basic instinct. They built buildings so high they merged with the sky.  "Wow," I whisper, and the sweet couple chuckle at me.   "We both said the same thing when we arrived. It's unlike any other place in the world," the male wolf says, and I nod while not taking

Gavin
LOGAN POV    "Logan, it's been a week. Stop moping, man. You are pushing away all the babes," Gavin whines for the thousandth time, and I snarl.   He jumps back as I slam the book I've been trying to read down on the lunch table.   "I don't care about any female other than my mate, Gavin. If you haven't noticed, I am currently studying. If you were smart, you would be following my lead," I snap, and his cheeks tint as our other friends snicker at him.  "What crawled up your butt and died, Logan," he snaps in a low voice that makes Lazarus growls.   "I grew up! I realized pretending to care about my popularity was stupid. I realized lying to YOU, and everyone else about sleeping around was wrong. I learned that I want to be an Alpha that leads his people to prosperity. I will not be my mother's puppet

New life
CHLOE POV   "Chloe, protect your face. Your hands should be up," the older female roars before she punches me right in the cheek.  I stagger back, and Haven growls.Haven- Focus Chloe. You usually are better than this   I huff as I try to push my emotions from my mind and focus on my boxing class. But no matter how hard I try, I can't do it. I can't stop thinking about the upcoming hunt and whether or not Logan will be here looking for his new mate.  "Come on, Chloe. Last week you owned this class," Karina cheers from the sidelines as I block a left.     I close my eyes briefly and take a deep breath. I begin to picture my mom's last fight. I recall how fluid her movements were and how she just seemed to know what the wolf would do next.  When I reopen my eyes, my thoughts are clear.

LOGAN POV (pg 13)    "You son of a bitch," Dad growls as he lunges towards the still-smirking Alpha.   Gavin and his dad, Hank, grab my father's arms just in time to stop him from burying his claws in Kincaid's face.  "No, Patrick! You know the law. Stop," Hank says as he and Gavin struggle to hold my father back.   Hank turns his attention towards Alpha Kincaid and reigns in his emotions completely before speaking.   "It would be best if you left Alpha Kincaid. Why doesn't Logan escort you," Hank grunts as dad wrestles against him and Gavin furiously?   "Fine, but I still expect an answer," Kincaid snaps, and Dad roars.   The muscles in my father's face shift back and forth as he fights against his wolf. Lazarus growls again, and I realize it's time f

LOGAN POV  "We understand you have his verbal confession. But considering the crime and the other party accused in the plot, your best friend, your son, and your best friend's son are not creditable witnesses, Alpha Patrick. Their ties to you are too close. We need another witness," the eldest Alpha repeats, and my father growls.   "As it stands, Alpha Kincaid can only be charged with breaking the visiting Alpha Law. That's a max of six months in the accusing pack's prison," another Alpha says, and my anger boils over."What if there was another witness. What if my mother and the daughter of Hannah Patterson testified to the events of that day," I ask, breaking protocol and interrupting the hearing that has been going in circles for over an hour.  "That would be sufficient evidence. How quickly can the two parties testify," the quiet Alpha asks, igno

CHLOE POV   My breath catches as I stare at the male that has been consuming my mind night and day for the past few weeks. He looks exactly the same, but there is something completely different about the man standing before me. He seems...he seems stronger and more confident. Like a big male mountain of strength.  "Chloe, I know it must be hard for you to see me again, and I get that. But I wouldn't be here if it wasn't important. Wait, I take that back. I was going to come for you today no matter what...but um, something else has also come up that makes it imperative that you came back home with me today," Logan says, sounding almost desperate.    His beautiful eyes search my face as I remain frozen. I can't stop staring at him. His strong jaw and straight nose! His wide shoulders. How did I forget how perfect he is? Everything about him looks so good. Why? Why is just seeing h

CHLOE POVHaven- He hasn't spoken to us once, Chloe. I don't like it. He was being so noble and strong until you kicked him down.Haven growls in our mind as I sit silently next to Karina. I glance over at Logan's rigid posture and cringe when I see him watching me with sad eyes. I immediately look away, and my cheeks blush.Chloe- I can't erase what I think, Haven. I'm sorry it hurt him. I have to be honest...don't I? That way, if we do work things out, he knows exactly where I stand.Haven- You couldn't just observe and see if he had changed? You've changed. You have become an excellent fighter. He could have become a better leader since the last time you saw him. You didn't even give him a chance.Haven huffs before going silent and moving to the back of our mind. I bite my lip as my emotions begin to grow again. I wish I could be less outspoken sometimes, but it just i

Fresh start
LOGAN POV    Watching Chloe cry is awful. It completely rips my heart apart every time, and the worst thing is  I can't do anything about it. I can't comfort her because I am the main reason behind her pain. Seeing me is just a reminder of what she lost when Alpha Kincaid's warriors killed her mom.   I glance at her and sigh as she avoids eye contact with me. I wish I could kiss her and brush my hands through her hair as I pull her close. I wish I could go back in time and fix everything. I want to take back my stupid rejection. I want to bring Chloe's mom back to life.  And most of all, I want to go back in time and ignore everything my mother ever said to me. Goddess, why did I ever listen to her?   "Chloe, I wish I could go back in time. I wish I could take her place for you," I whisper, and Chloe shakes her head back and forth.

CHLOE POV  Walking into the packhouse, I never thought I would see again, is surreal. Everything is the same, but then again, it isn't. I feel as if I am the same person, but I know I'm not.For one, I'm no longer an omega, charged with the duty of taking care of the Alpha's home. I am this pack's returning Luna. For two, I actually have some combat training under my belt. I'm not the same weak-bodied Chloe I was. So while it feels familiar, it also feels extremely different being here. I almost feel like an outsider visiting.   I glance at the familiar furniture and sigh as I envision the hours I spent repolishing and redusting.Luna Kandace never seemed happy with the work I did, so she had me redo almost every task I did. Except for the work I did in the mornings before she was awake. It was my quiet time, and I really enjoyed it.  "Chloe, my dad

Get it together
LOGAN POV"Dad, I'm back," I announce cautiously as I push open his office door.As the door opens, my eyes land on his slumped-over form before seeing Hank standing just to his left side."What's wrong with him," I ask frantically, immediately fearing the worst.Heartbreak has been known to kill wolves, and my father has experienced more heartbreak than any mated wolf should.Hank instantly places a finger on his lips and gestures for me to close the door. Once the door clicks shut, Hank sighs."Your dad got drunk last night. I was just trying to wake him up before you came in. We have to keep this quiet because if the other Alphas catch wind of this, they might remove your dad from his Alpha position," Hank whispers before shifting his attention back to my passed-out father."He can't keep this up," I mutter, and I walk to my father's ri
