Keira feels bad for avoiding his best friend for almost a month now. However, every time she sees Zeev, which is every day, she always remembers and contemplates what happened during Valentines’ Day. She knew she doesn’t like Zeev that way, even letting him mark her after the kiss. Though it was not something she would feel guilty of towards her best friend, Keira still felt like she did something wrong behind Zane’s back.Although she tried her best to act like nothing happened, she stopped visiting and hanging out with Zane outside university. CHAPTER 10

As the light drains away from the sky, leaving almost all shadow invisible, the moon perceptibly peaks, replacing the sunrays of its glow. Surging breeze created rustling sound of trees in the woods, grasses on the ground, and birds chirping along with it. Discernible howl from the council leader, beta Marcus, gathered the Moon Stone pack in the amphitheater made of centuries stones which they called the Paramount. This revered place is where werewolves come of age, receiving their print for normal wolves, and the beginning of their first turn – normally at the age of sixteen. The pack gradually filled the rising tiers of seats where werewolves sit next to each other regardless of hierarchy. Keira looked at her buzzing phone from the table. She’s with Theo hanging out in the mall after she received a text from Zane asking her to hangout.It’s been days after the confession and when she thought she can shrug it off and act as if nothing happens, unexpectedly, it was hard for her. Moon Valley expands beyond the horizon of Moon Stone where the territory of Crescent Luna is located. Between the territories are unclaimed lands – a home to rogues and newborns. The semester is about to end. However, Keira felt bad that she’s been avoiding her best friend for quite a while now despite Zane telling her sorry any chance he gets. Not that she completely ignores him, but she’s just feeling awkward being her usual self around him especially after the rejection. She’s trying. However, it’s making her a bit sad that Zane has been spending more time with Tyr and Zeev a lot lately and she’s blaming herself a little for that. Today, she is supposed to go visit Zane’s home, so they can catch up. But she was a little surprise to see Tyr and Zeev outside his best friend’s doorstep. Such sight is not weird, only unexpected. The professor is explaining something about Statistics and Modelling, numbers and formulas related to creating designs and blueprints. But it is all tuned out in Zane’s ears while he keeps his mind on the book he borrowed from the library called ‘The Werewolf Book’. Apparently, this book tells Zane studies of werewolves back in time, evidence of their existence and behaviors of this mythical creature. However, aside from those case studies and other theories, most of what is written in the book are already known to Zane. CHAPTER 15

The afternoon sun casted long shadows of trees on the ground. The leaning rays of setting sun glazed warm and orange tinge to the sky. Summer is indeed here as Zane’s entire body feels the warm temperature rising. But that’s not only because of the season. The beads of sweat gracing down his chin, neck, and down to drench his plain blue shirt are making it even warmer in the humid weather. Laser focus, back slightly bent down, and knees finding stable balance from his feet on the ground, Zane tried to steady his breathing, albeit calculated, and eyes narrowed, afraid to miss something. “Remember to bring the newborns on the northeast part of the forest where royal elders will be waiting for neutralization.” Marcus, the beta council leader, instructed the gammas lined up in front of the council and guardians.“If you think you won’t be able to handle your full moon turn, you don’t have to remove your shackles and join the hunt. We don’t want to risk casualties,” the beta added.Every full moon, aside from the royals, elders, and council, the rest of the werewolves of Moon Stone pack, especially those who can’t still control their turns, are commanded to put on their shackles inside their respective fortress to keep themselves safe from the vicious shift. Zane’s eyes widened when Tyr looked back and told something to Zeev. There are those blue, almost emerald, eyes of Tyr again he saw the first time they met. It’s mesmerizing to see up close like that, but also baffling at how drastic Tyr’s eye colors change. CHAPTER 18

After the incident during the full moon, Tyr and Zane had gotten a lot closer than before; no more empty conversations between their eyes, awkwardness had gone from little to almost none, and Tyr being extra attentive at Zane’s every little thing. And he knows Keira isn’t liking his closeness with her best friend. The alpha female always shows her dislike with her strong scent whenever Tyr and Zeev are around Zane. Tyr understood. He even thought that Keira and Zane were a couple. So, he just lets her harass them with her pheromones from time to time.Back in Moon Stone three days after the hunt, another incident happened that stirred up the council.“We will be needing to send some deltas out for the supply of wolfsbane for the next hunt.
