Because I had cried non-stop last night, Thane had slept with me in my room. It was odd waking up to him next to me, but I oddly didn't mind it. He looked so peaceful when he was asleep; I found myself moving a piece of hair from his face and admiring his long lashes. I smile, then he opens his eyes and catches me gawking at him. I freeze, then he smirks, "Whose creepy now?" his voice was full of morning raspiness, the type I loved. My lips pressed together, "I was just going to pinch your nose closed because of your snoring," I lied. Thane raises a brow, "Really? How come your mind went nuts when you were starting at me?" he sits up, leaning towards me, "You weren't thinking of snoring," he whispers. I swallow hard, "Stop that; it's annoying." I crossed my arms even though I knew he was right. My mind had drifted off to a naughty place, but I couldn't help it. I was a fan of mornings... "Wait! Evette!" Rosie grabs my arm, "What's going on? What's the rush?" For a moment, I think about not telling Rosie about Atticus being near, but I decide to tell her instead, "I can feel Atticus; he's nearby," I said in a hushed voice. Rosie's eyes dilate, "Are you going to see him? After what we just heard, I don't think that's a Good Idea." "That's just it, Rosie; if Lilia were a Rogue, she would have joined Atticus' pack. So I might as well find out while I have him here." "Ethel said they could be in cahoots with one another; this is a dangerous situation, Evette; we should go back home and talk to Thane," She suggests. "Rosie, please, just give me twenty minutes with him; I'll find out for myself." "Thane would wring my neck!" Rosie says, "Ugh, fine. Twenty minutes, but that's it. I'm putting a timer on my phone, and if you're not here, I'm calling Thane and telling him everything." "Thank you; I'll be right back!"

"Thane, why can't we just explain to everyone what happened?" I asked; this was starting to annoy the hell out of me. I finally got to the bottom of all of this, and now he still resists believing it. "Thane!" I shout, he halts in his tracks, "What is going on? Why do I feel like your not telling me something." He slightly turns back to me, "I'm trying to protect everyone, Evette. When we were younger, Atticus wouldn't take the responsibility of being an Alpha; it was all on my shoulders. He spent most of his time with Khione and left me to deal with everything else. I doubt he's changed." "You want to know what I think? I think it's you who won't accept him, not your pack. ~Thane~   I had towards the bar, trying not to let my memories fog my head. This was how it happened last time. Khione had spent so much of her time with Atticus that her bond with me started to wither. And now it looked like the past was rearing its ugly head again. "Let me guess; you had no choice but to bring him here because of Evette?" Olivia sits next to me, "Did I guess right?" "Bingo," I down a shot. Olivia rolls her eyes, "You guys are all the same. Huffing and puffing over your mate's attention." "You'd be too if you found your mate," I countered. "Oh, please, Thane. You know I'm right. So why are you voluntarily isolating yourself? ~Rosie~ "Let me go! Put me down right now!" Being thrown over a shoulder was not how I wanted to be whisked off my feet. But, having a Rogue mate was something I had not expected either. "You wanted to test me, woman," Harvey says as he adjusts me on his shoulder. "You slapped my basket out of my hands, you jerk! Oh, and FYI my baking skills will make your knees weak!" So if anything struck a nerve with me, it was someone who dissed my baking. Suddenly Harvey stops, and I slid off his shoulder; as I looked around the forest, I started to get the creeps.
