Chapter 21
We finished the game when lunch was almost over so we went to the break room to grab some tea and doughnut. After we were done, he decided to walk me to my office. But since we are in a secret relationship, when people come closer to us we change our subject to something related to work. When we got closer to my office, we heard that Shawn’s father was here. We had a meeting that day and Shawn’s father joined us. Unfortunately there was no opportunity that made Shawn and his father to talk until the end of the meeting. When his father talks: he sometimes adds ‘My son’ to the conversation. And when everyone started to walk out his father said “Son, you should come home early tonight. Your sister is back in town and we are planning a surprise party for her.” Shawn looked at me and I looked at him. I, with my eyes, started to show him signals to call him dad. Shawn shook his head no. I figured it was due to the number of people in the room but I still looked at him with wide eyes. So Sh

Chapter 22
I am at work, being busy, running from one floor to the other, being productive. Lunch hour, I went to Shawn’s office and like always, he was busy jumping his eyes from one paper to the other. When he saw me he immediately stopped working and greeted me with a big smile. “So what should we have for lunch?” I asked him. “I don’t know.” he answered as he giggled “Maybe we can go to brownies girls.” He was clearly mocking me. “Oh, you think that is funny?” I ran over to him and pinched him on his shoulder. “Ouch” he cried out, he grabbed me by the arm and hugged me. “Oh, someone is in a good mood today” I made a comment as I hugged him back. “Why wouldn’t I be? I have the world’s best butterfly hunter with me.” he said with his worm and manly voice. “Shut up” I giggled. “Oh” Shawn said “You remember Ron King right?” “Ya” I answered. “He has invited us to his anniversary dinner party.” “Both of us” I asked. “Ya” he answered. “Does he know we are together?” I asked Shawn again.

“What” I yelled and looked around to see if anyone was staring at me. I went closer to Oliver and in a lower voice I repeated “What” “I thought you knew.” “No I didn’t. Did you tell anybody?” I stared at Oliver. “What” he stood up “I would never do that.” “Well last time I checked, the only people that knows about me and Shawn in this building are three, two of which are standing in this office.” “I swear Princi, I didn’t tell anyone.” He swore over and over again. Then I remembered, the day Shawn and I were talking about the dinner party Ron King had invited us to, we heard the office door open and close. Someone must have heard us that day. “Oh my God” I said to Oliver “It is that bitch Lucy Chaw.” “What”, asked Oliver? “Think about it” I started to put the puzzle together “That day Shawn and I were talking about going to the party together, someone heard us.” “You don’t know that, that could have been anyone.” he interrupted me. “Ya but at that time, everyone knows not to

He got mad-for some reason- he stood up and left in a light speed. I have never been more disappointed in my life. But just to fill my anger I ate both the dishes that arrived for Shawn and me. He had paid before he left so I stood up and walked out with a full belly. I have no idea where to go. I can’t go to MC because Chris is in town and they are spending the night together. I can’t go home because mom and dad have a special evening planed. And I can just go to MCs’ house to hang because her parents have a romantic night planned as well. I thought since I was going to be with Shawn, I didn’t have to go home till midnight so I wouldn’t disturb mom and dad. But there I was, walking in my every day shoes-that somehow I knew I needed-with my stomach dragging me backwards all alone on Valentine’s Day. After an hour of walking, I arrived in front of my house at ten PM. I already told them I will be out till midnight so I had to wait out the remaining two hours sitting on the stair in fro

Chapter 25
I got out of bed and looked out my window. He was really here. So I walked down without making a single noise. He was leaning against his car as he gave his back to my house. I slowly walked closer to his car and leaned on the other side. He didn’t know I was out so I cleared my throat as to say ‘I am ready to hear you apologize.’ “Princi” he called out my name “I am sorry” I stayed silent, I needed to hear everything. “I am sorry for not coming at the coffee shop. I am sorry for ditching you on valentine day. But most of all I am sorry for not coming sooner to apologize.” He moved from where he was standing and stood in front me. “I really am sorry.” he repeated his apology. I am a very weak hearted person; he was looking at me with those beautiful sea blue eyes that I couldn’t resist. I gave him a little shy smile, we hugged it out. “Why did you come at the office earlier?” he asked as we were hugging. I realized myself from his arms to answer with a glare “I came to yell at you f

After the meeting is over, I went to Shawn’s office. He greets me with a smile but I was not in the mood for it. “Why do you insist on calling me by my name?” I asked before even saying ‘hi’. “Then what am I supposed to call you?” He asked coolly. “Ms. Jona is what you are supposed to call me. Don’t call me ‘Princi’ call me ‘Ms. Jona’. And if you have anything you want to talk to me about work then say it to Oliver like you used to.” I walked out before he could say a word. When I walked out of his office, I felt everybody’s eyes on me. It was too pressuring and uncomfortable. I truly miss the days when no one cared about me even if I was missing from the group. I miss the times when I would do my job in the background. I know I am saying this because I am upset, but I totally miss the time I worked for my former boss Mr. Custo, when he would ignore my presence in a meeting or wouldn’t even bother telling me to go to the meetings and would even forget my name to ask me for a cup of

Chapter 27
The tall man in suit and sunglasses announced that I was from DC and that I came respecting my appointment with him. Edward Swift looked to my direction and inspected me with his eyes for a whole minuet without a word and looked back to the man that led me in and finally spoke “I was expecting a man not a woman.” I jumped in “I came here in the replacement of Mr. David from the IH department sir.” “Hmm… So what do you have to say.” he asked without putting the book down. As I stood there, I started to make the speech that was prepared. “Well _ I started _ first of all, our company is one of …” He cuts me off and finishes my sentence “The greatest company in the country…” Confused by the interruption I continued “Well we are known for delivering…” He cuts me off and finishes my sentence again “Delivering what is expected of you and more…” I started to lose my temper, yet I continued “Well if you invest in our company the…” Once again he finished my sentence for me “The profit th

Edwards’ eyes went wide “How did you know?” he asked probably thinking I am a mind reader. “My brother, Kevin: he used to write to me about a friend of his called Josh. I never knew he was this Swift.” I finally gave him an answer. We were both stunned. The world truly is a small place. I was so shocked, I was looking for something to have in common with him but this was not what I expected. His frown turned upside down. Considering that two of the most important peoples in our lives knew each other was mind blowing. His once pushed together eyebrows are now far apart. And I see his teeth. Pointing to the chair across from him he told me to take a seat. As soon as I sat down he started talking. “Look Ms….” He didn’t know my last name “Jona” I told him. He continued “Ms. Jona, I am happy to have met the sister of the man my son has written to me about, but my mind on investing in DC has not changed.” I cut him off “You have decided not to invest because you have judge DC through jus

As soon as he saw her he jumped out of his seat and hugged her. It was a twenty second long hug. I don’t think you hug your friend for an entire of twenty seconds. Something was up. I looked at her. She was beautiful. I can see her face because she was facing my direction and dad was sitting across from her. She had a long hair pulled back and a giant mole at the left side of her forehead that you can’t miss. She had a white dress going down her knee and a black bag as well. They were chatting and laughing, high-fiveing and giggling. It looked like they were on a date. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Was my dad cheating on my mom? Was he getting dressed to see this woman every day? I started putting things together that may or may not be there one by one. I remembered how my dad hasn’t been himself for a while now. The quite thanksgiving dinner we had, the uncelebrated valentine day of my parents, the going out early in the morning without telling us. This could only mean one th

Chapter 30
“I am going to break up with him.” I told MC when she came over to visit. “What” she asked in a high pitched tone out of disbelief. “MC I am suffering at work in a way he can’t even imagine. No one can say a thing about him. Everyone has their focus on me. Lucy Chaw has been busy spreading rumors about me. It is hard to work in that kind of environment.” “Don’t jump in to this decision without considering about his feelings as well.” MC warned me. “You don’t get it. Every day I hear someone say something about me and I blame Shawn. I would always think to myself if I hadn’t met him in that elevator I would have been able to work peacefully. Not only am I hating my job’ but I am actually starting to despise him as well. When I told him I was sick he was really worried, he kept calling me over and over and I really love him for it. But if things at work don’t get better I am scared I would actually start to hate him. So before that happens I need to let him go.” MC looked at me for
