Chapter 29 - The first night
Alec POV “Where is Aimee?” I ask Stella as she shrugs and holds her skirt up while we walk back and foreword looking for Aimee. “Her flowers”, she gasps, posing at the end of the corridor, and we walk there, I pick them up, and I can hear muffled sounds. What the fuck. I look around, and that’s when the door opens, and I can see Aimee with a busted lip, crying and Paul on his knees, cursing under his breath as his eyes fly open to looking at me. Without thinking twice, I walk inside and grab him by his collar and press him against the wall as he lies to my face. “Mate, she called me here”, Paul states and I can’t believe he is doing this to me. He is lying to my face. About my wife, about the woman I loved, and I know he has been manipulating me our entire lives. I punch him straight on the nose, and his head bangs against the wall, and he falls to his knees with a hand covering his nose with his hand. His nose is gushing blood. I walk to Aimee, who is still holding on to Stella,

Chapter 30 - Gala
Aimee POV “Are you ready?” I ask Alec as I walk back into the bedroom. I can see him sitting on the edge of the bed as he puts his shoes on. Alec raises his head and looks at me, nodding. He shows me a small smile, and I can’t help but melt. We have spent a lot of time together, and I think I am falling again for him. He has been super attentive and sometimes too overprotective. As I start walking out of the bedroom, Alec’s hands grab me by my waist, pulling me towards him. I can’t help but let out a loud gasp in shock as I wasn’t expecting for him to do that. I face him, and he rests his forehead on mine as he places a small kiss on the tip of my nose. I smile up at him, and then he pulls away and gives me his hand. We walk hand in hand out of the apartment we have in New York. I have never been here, and I can’t believe this is where we are spending our honeymoon. We have been walking around New York without any concerns about the press. No one knows who we are. No one even care

Chapter 31 - Payne enterprises
Alec POV “Mr Hardy, what a pleasure”, I hear as soon as I walk into the office. I look around to see around ten men, I don’t know who they are. I smile politely and walk to the end of the table where my name is set on a sign. I undo my suit jacket with one hand as I place my briefcase on the table in front of me. “Gentleman, it is a pleasure”, I say as I take a sit and everyone follows me. They start introducing themselves as the board of the Payne enterprise. I nod my head to each one of them after them telling me who they are and exactly their roles. I hate this sort of meetings, they are boring and not productive. But it needed to be done. After an excruciating meeting I leave towards my new office and I look inside to see London’s amazing view through the window that is behind my desk. I will have to hire a CEO for this company as I am not interested in doing it myself. I already have my own job and my own responsibilities. I sit on my desk and look around. The old man had goo

Chapter 32 - Anniversary
Aimee POV After lightening up the candle in the dining room table I look down at myself and I can’t help but feel my face heat up. I am wearing a silk robe with only lingerie underneath. I am surprising Alec today. Today is the anniversary of our first date ever, and I thought that as we are doing so well, we could celebrate and maybe make this relationship actually work, make it real instead of fake. Alec knows my deepest darker secret and I believe he didn’t know I was telling the truth at that time, we were young and he was blind with jealousy and it was his best friend after all. I hear the door opening and I smile at the thought of Alec walking in on me. I take the robe off throwing it on the floor at my feet and I climb onto the table and lay down in the middle between the candles. I smile as I lay there trying to look sexy and I hear Alec calling for me. “Babe, I had the most hideous day, can we leave the surprise for another time?”, he asks as I hear him walking around the h

Chapter 33 - Fight
Alec POV “Mr Hardy”, I hear Veronica’s voice call through the sound system in my office. I roll my eyes and pass my hands through my hair. This day can’t get any worse. “Yes”, I bark in response as I press the button on the system. I sit back on my chair, throw the papers back at the table, and take my glasses off. “There’s someone here to see you, sir, Aimee?” she says, and I stand up immediately and walk out of my office towards Veronica. I find Aimee smiling nervously as she looks at Veronica. “Hey”, I say as I approach her, and she smiles back at me. “Veronica, this is my wife, Aimee. She doesn’t need to be announced, ever”, I let out, and Veronica smiles, nodding her head. I take Aimee’s hand after smiling politely at Veronica, and I pull her into my office. As soon as I close the door, I press her body against it and push my body against her. She is now trapped, and she smiles, resting her hands against my chest as I kiss her neck slowly. “Alec, I didn’t come here for sex”,

Chapter 34 - Listen to me
Aimee POV “Meet me tonight at our special place”, I repeat, telling Stella what the message said and who it was from. Stella frowns and scrunches her nose as she passes me my cup of tea. I take it with both hands and take a small sip. “Tea will help you heal”, she says, and I nod my head as I feel another tear rolling down my cheek. Stella’s phone starts to ring, and she answers without hesitation. “Just drop it, Hardy’, Stella says at the phone, and she listens a little bit longer and then she tells Alec to go fuck himself. I can’t even imagine his face right now, but it serves him well. She then ends the call. She looks at me and asks me how I got there so fast. I shrug my shoulders as I remember just running out of the building and getting into the first taxi I saw. I went up to Stella’s room and lay down on her bed while she stayed downstairs watching tv. I need some time alone, and I need to think. I don’t know what to do, and then I hear Alec’s voice. He shouts like a maniac o

Chapter 35 - Back home
Alec POV I’ve been sitting in the same place, nurturing a glass of whiskey in my hand for the past hour, Aimee is not home yet, and I can’t believe this is happening to us. What have I done? I pass my hands through my hair, shaking my head. I close my eyes, resting them back on the sofa. I feel the tears threatening to spill, and then the door opens. I stand up immediately. Aimee walks into the house, and she walks past me without even looking me in the eye. I follow her like a lost puppy into the bedroom. She closes herself in the bathroom, and I sit on the edge of the bed. It feels like it’s been forever when she comes out of the bathroom, freshly showered with a towel wrapped around her body and another one on her head, keeping her hair inside. She walks past me and enters the walk-in closet, and I follow her. She grabs her clothes, leggings and a top, her underwear, and I am unable to speak. I need to say something. I need her to listen to me. “Aimee”, I let out, and she shake

Chapter 36 - Goodbye
Alec POV Aimee has been treating me with cold shoulders, and I don’t know what else to do. I have tried everything, and I am almost losing hope of getting her back. I stop the car in the garage, turning it off and resting my head against the steering wheel. Today marks our first anniversary, one year since we got married, and I made her mine again for later one lose her for good. I get out of the car and get on my way home. When I open the door, I am hit by the incredible smell of a roast dinner. I frown, looking around as I close the door and neatly put my key, wallet, and phone on the table near the door. “Aimee?” I let out as I walk further into the house and find Aimee in the kitchen with her EarPods on. She is swaying her hips as she moves to the rhythm of whatever it is she is listening to. I walk behind her and touch her shoulder, startling her. She looks at me with wide eyes and one hand on her chest as she breathes heavily. “Sorry”, I let out, and she smiles. What made h

Chapter 37 - I will find her
Alec POV I am holding on to my phone as if my life depended on it. I have been making phone calls after phone calls trying to find out if anyone knows where Aimee is. Stella is not opening her mouth, and Ash is out of the country. “She went to him, and I bet she went to him”, I say aloud as I throw my crystal glass from my whiskey against the wall shattering it into a thousand pieces. I pass my hands through my hair when my phone starts ringing and I answer straight away. “Mr Darcy, thank you for getting back to me so fast”, I let out. I bet he could hear how desperate I sounded on the voice mail I left him. “Mr Hardy, how can I help you?” he asks, and I take a deep breath, Darcy is one of the best private detectives in the country, and his hourly rates are exuberant, but I don’t care. I will do anything to find out where Aimee is to go get her back. She was wrong in her letter. We belong together, we belong with each other, and I will make sure to prove it to her for the rest of

Chapter 38 - There she is
Alec POV “You are incompetent. How is it possible? It’s been one month, one fucking month”, I bark at Darcy, that is not standing in front of me. His head stands high as he takes a deep breath. “Mr Hardy, she is probably using someone else’s name. If she is not using her credit cards or anything, there’s not much I can do”, He says as I shake my head. I have been in Scotland for the past two weeks. That’s where she was last seen. Darcy has been looking for Aimee nonstop, and he got me here. I know he is doing his best. We have asked everyone if they have seen Aimee but nothing. I shake my head, pushing away the horrible thoughts that come to mind. We have checked every hospital, everywhere, but nothing, no trains, no buses, no taxis, no one recognises Aimee. There’s only one taxi driver we haven’t been able to contact because he is away. Who stays on holiday for more than one week? How can a taxi driver have money for holidays like this? I start pacing around when Darcy walks out
