#Chapter 31 (Arina) – The Truth Revealed
It was true.My mother had an affair with Boris Conway.Boris’s study was on the other side of the manor. It reminded me of a mini-library. It was far enough away from the ballroom where I couldn’t hear the party going on and where we wouldn’t be interrupted.Boris insisted we spoke further about my mother, but at a faraway distance from Nikini because she doesn’t know any of this information and he’d rather keep it that way.Jonathan wanted to join in on the meeting, afraid of leaving me alone. But I insisted that this was something I needed to do by myself. So, he settled on waiting in the hallway and keeping a lookout for unwanted visitors.Jonathan warned me not to mention anything more about my father to Boris. He was afraid that it might stir up some issues amongst Alpha’s; especially ones that were involved with the same wolf.“So, what my father said was true?” I asked softly. “My mother had an affair with you?”Boris nodded once.“Yes,” he answered. “I wasn’t aware he knew.”“

#Chapter 32 (Jonathan) – Departure to Blackcrest
Jonathan didn’t like leaving Arina home alone after the week they’ve had, but Chief Miller wanted to speak with him at the Grower Howler Police Station. The police station was a small brick building towards the center of town. Inside the police station, the deputies remained at their desks filling out files and documents.Chief Miller was waiting in his office, in the back of the station near the jail cells. The jail cells only consisted of a few wolves that were caught stealing from locals. Most of the bigger crimes from wolves would be sent to Silverside where they kept the prison. Anyone in custody had to be cufflinked which prevented them from changing into their wolf forms. Only the chiefs had access to disarming the cufflinks.Chief Miller sat at his desk, looking uneasy, as Jonathan entered.“What’s going on?” Jonathan asked as he sat at one of the chairs placed in front of the desk.“We were able to trace the scent back to a pack,” Chief Miller went on to say.Jonathan swallowe

#Chapter 33 (Arina) – Blackcrest
Jessica arrived a few hours after Jonathan left. I was relieved when she showed up. I haven’t been able to spend time with her since before I married Jonathan and it’ll be nice to enjoy this time together. “I need all of the details of your Silverside trip,” she started as soon as she got there. We had just returned from Silverside yesterday and I haven’t had the chance to tell her about anything yet.She sat on the couch and peered up at me with big curious eyes.“It was definitely interesting,” I told her. She waited patiently for me to continue. “Boris was different than I expected.”“Was he as amazing as I imagine?” She asked.“Boris was pretty great,” I told her. “Nikini and Makenna, not so much.”Her face fell.“Really? But they are both so beautiful!” Jessica cooed.I rolled my eyes.“That doesn’t mean they are good people. They are snobby and act like they are above everyone and everything,” I explained.“But they are! They are filthy rich,” Jessica said.“I know and they know

#Chapter 35 (Arina) - Healing
Erick had mind-linked Jonathan and told him that there was a fight in the Ironclaw woodland forest. He mentioned being hurt and that he needed first aid.The fight was between Erick and an outsider; someone who had no business being in Ironclaw. Apparently, this outsider was hunting on Ironclaw territory, another breach in the law. Most likely a wolf from Blackcrest.Jonathan had just gotten back from Blackcrest this morning and from the way he made it sound, the conversation he had with Alpha Graham left him unsettled. I’ve never actually met Graham but just based on what Jonathan says about him, I don’t trust the guy.He says he has no knowledge of his wolves hunting on marked territory, but I don’t believe that for a second and I know Jonathan doesn’t believe that either. Jonathan brought it to his attention, and he said he will be sure that his wolves stay out of marked territories. Then Erick called and said that there was an outsider wolf hunting in Ironclaw and that they got int

#Chapter 36 (Arina) - Sisters
Envious? What did she have to be envious about?“Envious of me?” I asked. “Why?”She stifled a smile.“You were so brave and powerful. You stood up against Rock when no one else could. You saw threw him before anyone else did. You were able to leave and not look back. You have friends that have your back and a mate that will protect you at all costs,” she listed out.It sounded like she was saying she saw through Rock and was too afraid to say anything. I had no idea she felt that way; about any of that.“I mean, now you have a mate that will protect you. He literally risked his life to save you,” I reminded her.More tears formed in her eyes.“I’m sorry,” I told her softly. “That wasn’t meant to be insensitive.”“No, you’re right. I do have someone to protect me now. Someone who would risk their life for mine. I never realized how terrifying that would be,” she admitted. She continued to wash her fingers through the stream. Working her way up to her arms.“How are things at home?” I a

#Chapter 38 (Arina) – Dr. Emily
“Where the hell have you been?!” Rock hissed as he opened the door to find Jonathan and me standing on his doorstep.I could see the fiery anger outlining his dark eyes, sending a wave of chills down my spine. It’s been about a week since I signed the contract, and this was the first encounter I’ve had with him since then.I knew he would be pissed at the fact that I’ve been avoiding him. But since finding out about my mother’s affair with Boris Conway, I wanted to find out what’s in that box more than anything.“I’ve been busy,” I muttered as I stepped inside.Jonathan trailed closely behind me; he kept his eyes on Rock and was ready to attack if Rock made any foul attempts. I felt protected with him there and appreciated that he kept near me.“We have a contract,” Rock reminded me. I rolled my eyes.“How could I forget,” I spat sarcastically. “Dr. Emily will be here shortly,” Rock informed me as I took a seat beside Jonathan on the couch. The house was quieter than usual and then

#Chapter 39 (Ronnie) – Sisterly Heart to Heart
Ronnie wanted to talk right then and there, but both she and Arina knew it wouldn’t be a good idea with Rock and Melissa lurking somewhere around the house. So, Arina suggested that Ronnie came to Sabrebite when she could, and they could talk at her home.Ronnie was nervous because she’s never been to Sabrebite; this would be the first time she visited Arina at her home. She wouldn’t be able to tell Rock she was going there because he would know something was up. Which meant, she also couldn’t tell Melissa knowing that she would probably bring it up to Rock. As much as Rock physically and emotionally hurts her, she still bends over backward for him in hopes of strengthening their obviously failed marriage. Now that Rock had this beautiful doctor, Emily, staying with them until the baby was born, Melissa knew she was somehow in trouble and needed to keep on Rock’s good side. It was obvious to Ronnie that Rock was sleeping with Emily and if he wasn’t before, he was going to start soon en

#Chapter 40 (Jonathan) - Warning
Jonathan was at his office when he received a text message from Arina telling him that he needs to come home as soon as he can. Before he was able to leave, Chief Miller showed up at his office door.He was breathless like he had just run from the Grey Howler Police Station to Jonathan’s office. He looked to be in a panic.“We have a problem,” he began.Jonathan sat back down at his desk chair.“Go on,” Jonathan urged.“There’s been word that Blackcrest and a few other packs are planning on an attack during the red moon,” Chief Miller told him.The red moon was only a month away; typically, that was when werewolves were at their strongest point if they were fully developed and strong enough as is. if they weren’t strong enough and not fully developed, the red moon would only make them weak and dissociated. The red moon takes the powers from the weak and temporarily gives them to the strong. Usually, there would be a huge ceremony; it was a once-a-year occasion. It would also be a good
