Maverick’s pov- I have searched book after book, news article after news article, hell I have pried through the entire web and still I can’t find an explanation that would explain Levi’s worries and concerns. I was losing hope, losing patience with every passing second. For the past few days, I have done nothing but pry into every myth that I can find in order to get some answers that can explain Nina, a human mate. A human mate with a scent that intrigues other shifters. My wolf was far from at ease with the knowledge that our mate unknowingly has a scent that grabs the attention of the males around her. Since Monday in the parking lot, I have kept my distance from Nina, for no reason other than for the sake of myself because in all honesty I didn’t trust my wolf with how intensely displeased he is with how close she is with Lucas, and that statement of my brothers on how Nina’s scent calls to their wolves. Yeah, he wanted nothing more than to smother her in our scent to ward off w

I was in deep fucking trouble with a simple compliment from this boy and I became weak at the knees completely smothered with intense cravings for him, surely it was not normal to feel so intensely heated towards one guy in such short time of knowing him, and then there’s that little fact that he has done it again with just that one look into his eyes and I was back to forgetting exactly why we had ended up face to face as he tried sooth my emotions with those sweet words. A blue blur shot between Maverick and I’s close proximity, and I flinched out of its way. “You need a distraction sweetheart” Levi stated throwing a green sweet in our direction. I’m pretty sure he was aiming for Maverick who winced and cussed his brother as the small object hit him in the side of his head. Levi grinned in amusement as he popped another sweet into his mouth. A part of me felt high displeasure that Levi had interrupted us yet again but the reasonable and sane part of me was thankful that he had the a

Nina’s pov- “you guys are kinda weird” I turned to face Maverick with a nervous bite to my lip. “You get used to it” he leaned forward in his seat, his head tilting to the side like he always does before his predatorial prowl towards me. “erm” I visibly breathed out “so are we watching a movie?” I asked standing awkwardly as I intertwined my fingers together. “We can do whatever you want to do Liebling” he finished with a strong thick accent that was made up of a mix of aggression yet pleasingly manly sound. “Liebling?” I asked attempting to resound the foreign word he had spoken as I took a seat beside him on the sofa, the sofa was large, and I could have sat anywhere on this corner sofa but instead my feet took me directly to him. “Ja Engel” he chuckles amusement shining in his eyes, and he tilted to face me with his attention. His use of an alternative language and thick accent triggered my body with such a strong sense of arousal that I almost moaned aloud at the sound. Holy

Nina’s pov- “Nina” He called softly with a nudge to my shoulder. “Just let her sleep dude” a whisper followed. “Yeah, and put a shirt on your going to freak her out” someone added “I’m sure the black eye will do that either way” the chuckles vibrated. “Or maybe you guys will with all your hovering” he whispered harshly. I snapped my eyes open coming face to face with Maverick as the other three boys scrambled away from the sofa that I had seemingly fell asleep on. where they watching me sleep? And did they just scatter away when they got caught? “Shit, I fell asleep” I squinted my eyes at the bright light that seeped through the large, windowed ceiling. They could do with a set of blinds for that nauseating bright sun. “Sorry we woke you darling” Maverick sent me a small smile. “You mean sorry you woke her” remarked Levi earning a deadpanned look from Maverick. Levi silently shrugged as he held an icepack to his knuckles. I took a moment to observe the boys each with an ice pa

Nina’s pov- “Do I look ok?” I asked Katarina observing my newly cut hair in the mirror. Katarina had mentioned how her mother owned the salon in town and that she was fully trained to cut hair by the age of ten. So, me being me I put her to the test and let her cut my hair to have it sit just above my shoulders. She had done a remarkable job with the styling as she left it in perfect curly waves that had my bob short yet sophisticatedly sexy. I was feeling good about the new change it made me feel like the new start that I was forced to have was going to be good for me if I just kept a positive mind and boy did I need positivity after the past month of disasters that the universe and whatever else there is out there that I can blame has thrown at me. “You look stunning” she complemented with pride, and I believed her words because tonight I did feel stunning and damn good about myself. “How do I look? should I have gone with the dress?” she asked appearing at my side to check out he
