Chapter 51
Chapter 51“Snow.” He said, greeting me. I extended my hand and let him take it, kissing it softly. His thoughts were cool and calculated. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing sinister, he was just extremely interested in me. I intrigued him, more so than anyone else has. He was determined to figure me out. “Come in, beautiful.” He purred, and it felt like the silk from his voice traveled through my ears and wrapped itself around my mind. It had me wondering just what his enhancement was. I was sure I would find out soon enough. I walked inside the room, which was a typical suite. It had a four poster bed in the middle of the room against the back wall, a fireplace and seating on one side, a mini bar on the other, plus the walk-in closet and bathroom adjoined. The thing that struck me the most interesting were the windows. They were huge and the entire room was lined with them. The view outside was gorgeous as you could see the ocean and the town below. This resort sat up on a cliff o

Chapter 52Max hooked his index finger under my chin, forcing me to look him in the eyes. I could feel the slimy tendrils disguised as silk, seeping into my mind. “Max, I’m warning you, get the fuck out of my mind.” I snarled. “But doll, I love you, can’t you feel our bond?” He said softly, and the hurt in his eyes was apparent. This felt so fucking real. I could feel him in my mind, and I swear that this was the memory, exactly how it happened. But I knew he was messing around in there, changing shit. He was not my gifted mate and this was not real. “Don’t call me doll.” I growled, and ripped my knife from its holster, jamming it into Max’s chest with extreme swiftness. He never expected it, and I watched as he bled out in front of me. “Only one man can call me doll, and it sure as hell isn't you.” I snarled, while jamming my knife deeper into his chest. I knew this wasn't real, just a memory so he wasn’t really dead. I expected him to pull us out of the memory, but he didn’t. I watc

Chapter 53
Chapter 53I picked up my phone to see that it had been 4 hours, it was almost 10:30pm. How the hell? He kept me in there for 4 hours?! Jericho probably was losing his shit, and I’m sure Damien messaged me too. But when I looked at my phone, no one had messaged me. This is strange, why would no one have tried to contact me after this long of a time?” I thought. I clicked on the message thread from Jericho in my phone, and pushed reply. ‘I’m out, I'm alive, want me to come back over and update you?’ I asked.I waited until I was already in my car and ready to head over, but he never replied. This was out of character for him. “Jarvis, call Jericho on a secure line.” I said. “Of course, ma’am. I’ve put it on the screen.” He replied. I waited for him to answer, of course he would answer, right? I was let down when it went to voicemail. I didn’t leave a voicemail, I just hung up. He could be asleep, I mean he did fly here, and there is jet lag. I decided to quit bugging him and text D

Chapter 54I tried to keep my calm because there was one thing he still didn't know… The fact that I could read his thoughts. That was one thing I never revealed and he would never know. It was the only thing that gave me a heads up on him, or anyone really. “I will be expecting your text.” I said, as he released his hold on me, allowing me to climb off his lap. I straightened my dress out and ran my hand through my hair where he had messed it up then we locked eyes again. He was smiling deviously, and I just smirked, narrowing my eyes at him, before turning and walking away. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was drowning when I walked away from him though. It was the strangest thing, like he wanted me to stay. Like staying was the only way to be able to breathe again. I resisted the urge and kept walking. He didn’t say anything else though, and I looked at my hand just before I walked out the door, just to make sure I really was awake this time. No ring, perfect. I stepped out the

Chapter 55
Chapter 55I was so grateful for Damien and his patience with me while I tried to save his life. Even if he didn’t know what I was doing or why. We were lying on the bed together, I was lying in his arms in my favorite spot when he leaned down and kissed me. As the lightning rushed between us I got the strange feeling that he should mark me. I know I said I wasn’t ready yet, but every ounce of my being was pushing for it. I knew he could feel it too but he didn't want to say anything. Instead he growled under his breath as he ripped what little piece of clothing I still had on, off of me, throwing it to the floor. The look of hunger and need in his eyes when he looked at my naked form, both made me nervous and excited at the same time. He carefully caressed my breasts while kissing me again and holding me close while our tongues worked together in unison. His soft moans fueled my fire as he ran his hands along my body. The way he sucked on my bottom lip and peppered kisses along my j

Chapter 56I locked eyes with Damien. “The Vampire and The Hunter.” I said. He smiled at me. “How ironic.” He replied, and he ran his fingers across the mark. It sent a tingling feeling shooting through my chest. “It’s so beautiful.” I said. “It suits us perfectly.” Damien replied. “I’m going to take a bath and try and get some of my strength back.” I said. Damien nodded. “And, you need to eat. So I will get you something and bring it up when you’re done.” He said. “Thank you, I love you.” I replied, and stepped into his arms. I could feel his emotions, his pride at seeing his mark adorning my body. I could feel his trust at how strong his gifted mate was, and that I would survive this. I could feel the warmth of his love encasing my mind. I had never felt comfort like this before, never had someone I could so fully trust with anything, even my life. I was the center of his world, and I could feel it now. It wasn’t just him saying it, it was all encapsulating and true. I suddenly had

Chapter 57My thoughts were clear and I actually felt better than I had felt in a while, even before the mark. It was like the mark energized me even. I felt stronger, more powerful. Different. I couldn’t explain it. My barrage of feelings must have woken Damien up because he sat up and asked me how I was feeling. “Great, I’m feeling great, actually. It’s the weirdest thing, I feel powerful and strong. I don’t know, I guess it's the mark?” I said. He could feel my apprehension. “This is all new to me too, doll. I’m so glad you're feeling better.” He said. “Me too. “What time is it?” I asked him. “11:15am.” He replied. I tried to keep my panic to myself because I knew he would feel it, but it didn’t work at all. “What? Why are you stressed? What is going on?” He asked. I could feel his worry as he spoke. “Nothing, I am just stressed because I spent the past day and a half almost dying. I have wasted a lot of time and I have work to do.” I said, hoping that would suffice. “Well, I'm gl

Chapter 58“Snow, you are absolutely incredible. Do you know this?” Damien said. I looked up at him bewildered. I just told this man that the largest assassin company in the world was out to get him personally, and he thinks I'm incredible? I shook my head at him. “What?” I said. “You are the strongest, most dedicated woman I have ever met in my entire life. You have never come short of your goal, not even once in all the years I've known you. And before you ask, yes I’ve kept up on your contracts. Snow, I’ve known that I was your contract since the beginning. I just wanted you to tell me when you were ready. I honestly had no idea what I was going to do about it, but I knew that as long as I had you, that together, we could figure it out. And I knew that you would keep me safe until that time came.” He said. “You knew the whole time?” I asked. He nodded. “I sure did. I was hoping that you would take it when I realized it came up. Luckily you did before anyone else got the chance.”

Chapter 59
Chapter 59I have no idea how much time had passed since I got shot, but I was sure I was dead. My eyes fluttered open but I couldn’t see anything. The strange thing is I didn’t even feel dead. I had cognitive thought but I was just in complete darkness. I couldn’t see anything in any direction but I could tell that I was lying on the ground. I sat up and instantly gripped my chest. The hole was still there, but I couldn’t feel any pain from it. I pulled my hand away and it was covered in blood I assumed. I could feel it and smell it, but I just couldn’t see it. I attempted to stand up and was able to successfully but it did me absolutely no good because I couldn’t see anything. Not even a foot in front of me. If I took a step in any direction I could fall to an even worse fate than what’s already happening. I had never thought about the afterlife, in fact I had no idea what happened after you died. Where did you go? Apparently nowhere, as I am finding out. But why was I still here? W

Chapter 60
Chapter 60 I had all but given up hope of finding a way out of this place when the room started to fade away. It was almost as if Damien was giving me back my memories, but he wasn’t even here, I was alone. I watched as the room came back into view. I was in the movie theatre, I have no idea what movie I was watching but I was here with Xavier. He had his arm around my shoulders and I was leaning my head on his shoulder. I remember he asked if he could take me to a movie for my 23rd birthday. I felt guilty watching myself and Xavier. The memories flooded back of him barging into Damiens room. The hurt on his face and in his voice was so apparent, I don’t know if I would ever forgive myself for it. It looked like the movie was halfway over when I saw Damien enter the theatre. He spotted us instantly and walked over. He took a seat next to Xavier and then leaned over and whispered something to him. Out of nowhere Xavier got up and left the theatre. He didn't say a word, he jus
