The High Priest
I navigated my way through the brightly lit hallways of the walloping castle to look for my chambers. I took in every turn and narrow hidden cabinets to memorize the structure in casez I ever needed it in the future. The echo of my boots hitting the shiny floor was the only sound beside the wind howling outside. . My demeanor was calm but my mind was racing a mile, thinking about how could I break through the heavy settings of guard at the dungeons without getting caught. After my little intrusion a few days ago, the security had been raised up."Are you the new guard to the princess?" A female asked from behind me. "Yes." I answered."The high priest has asked for you at the temple." She informed and I frowned in confusion. Why did the priest want to see me? Even earlier, he was looking at me weirdly. "Thank you." I nodded at the female and she returned to her work . Leaving the castle I reached the temple again that day, curious as to why the high priest would want to meet a stra

The Questions (part i)
"I don't belong at this table, princess. I will sit where I am supposed to. Enjoy your meal, please." I gently removed her hand from my arm and went to the table designated for people like me. Guards who protected important people and valuable belongings.I filled my plate and settled into an empty chair. I was the only female on this table, for no female joined this type of job. I noticed the way all the men stole glances at my direction in curiosity and in irritation. They were annoyed that a female was sitting among them where they were a sign of masculinity and strength. The sounds of footsteps on the polished floor caught everyone's attention. A female entered the dining hall, with two maids trailing behind her. Her honey blonde hair that reached to her waist swayed slightly with her walking as she made her way straight to the table where my mate sat eating his dinner quietly. It was as if she didn't even notice anyone around her beside him and quickly went to his side. "I apolo

The Questions (part ii)
The tension in the room was so thick, I could cut it with a blade. Nervousness and anxiety had gripped my throat, making it hard to breathe properly. The cold man in front of me was just over the top of the reasons of my heightening stress. Willing my curled toes to relax under my shoes and straightening my spine, I got ready to face the problem."If I were your mate, Alpha King, then don't you think that we would have felt something by now. I'm sure there is something supposed to happen like some scent or… your wolf would be restless, wouldn't it?" I said moving my hands around."You are right but, I just can't seem to believe that." He started in his ever so emotionless, stoic voice. "Everything about you is just too much similar to her. Your hair, your eyes… your everything leads me to think that you are her." Reminding my heart to beat slowly in my chest, I nodded. "Have you met your mate before, Alpha king?" I asked him instead."Yes. I have met her once." He nodded. "Then why

The Questions (part iii)
"Why did you tell him?" I questioned right after slamming the room of his chambers open. Startl5 he looked up to me, his hands freezing in mid of turning a page of the book of his lap.. "What did I tell to whom, my child?" He asked back in confusion. I huffed out an annoyed breath. "I don't have the time for your mimic innocence, high priest. Last night the king confronted me, asking me if I was his mate." His eyes broadened visibly at my statement. "He could have done that the other day when I came. But he only did that after you called me his mate. So, you must be the one to fill his ears." I accused him. He shook his head and walked towards the window, his back to me. "I can swear upon the goddess I didn't say anything to him. And why would I when I myself don't want him to know that?" He asked as he faced me again."And why don't you want him to know?" I asked frowning my eye brows in suspicion. "There are a lot of things here you don't know." He replied. "I have plenty of ti

The Strength
I knocked twice on the heavy cherry wood door waiting for a response. Tension coiled in my stomach urging me to take deep breaths. I wondered if it was the mate bond prickling my skin or was it just the nerves. Everytime I was in his proximity I feared that this time, I might be exposed.A muffled 'come in' sounded halting my thoughts. The words were so soft they were barely audible, but my heightened hearing picked it up. Ignoring the heavy feeling in my stomach and my wolf's excitedly wagging tail, I entered the room. I loved my wolf, but when she acted like this around him, it irritated me.The high ceiling room was covered in golden and dark blue colours. The giant sized bed was placed against the wall in the middle with a huge spacious balcony to let plenty of sunlight in. A room well made for a King. "I said you can come in." He barked. I may not be the person with the best etiquettes, but sometimes I wished I could smack him in the face to teach him some manners. Cursing and

The Heat
My whole being was on fire. Fire that threatened to melt my skin and burn my bones to ashes. With a loud gasp I sat up looking out for my surroundings. Everything was dark and perfectly fine but my body still felt like molten lava was poured over me and there was a low pain in my abdomen that promised to be more tormenting as the time passed. I fumbled in the dark for the water on my bedside. I took large gulps of chilled water and laid back. The pain never subsided, it only became more vigorous causing me to let out painful whimpers. I didn't know whatever was happening, I couldn't even lift my fingers from the exhaustion.Wriggling and thrashing, I didn't even realise when the first ray of morning's sun peeped into my room or when the doors flew open. Someone called my name frantically and came to my side touching my arms and forehead. I tried to calm my breathing and focused on the voice. "What happened Seraphina? Are you hurt? I'll help, tell me!" Adelia. "A-adel, it-it burns."

The Spar
"You will see." He said before opening the door with a creak and stepped inside, leaving me to follow. One foot inside, and the air heavily filled with the scent of jasmine and roses hit me right in the face. The room was as huge as a ballroom, covered with thick vines on glass windows everywhere. Vines of roses hung from the ceiling, entangled with jasmines like curtains. The place was so beautiful it seemed to be enchanted. "Do you like it?" The Alpha king asked from my right. "Yes. But what is this? What do you do here? And why are there only roses and jasmine?" I asked, not being able to stop the questions from flowing. An amused smile danced on his lips. "Full of questions, are we?" My cheeks flushed from his teasing just like the roses in the room. "I apologise.""You should never apologise for your curiosity. Questions are what offer you knowledge." He said and I just nodded. "A couple of weeks ago I arranged this greenhouse. This place is somewhere I come to seek peace,

The Best Friend
ALPHA KING ELRICKI had been exceptionally calm these past few days. The lack of discipline in the juvenile trainees didn't irritate me. My beta pulling me to overlook matters like what will be cooked tonight, didn't irk me. Sky looked a little more blue these days and the chirping of birds sounded somehow sweeter. If I had to tell the reason for all of that, I could only think of one name. Seraphina. Since the day in the greenhouse, she had got my attention solely on her. That day, when she didn't come down even for once, I was restless from inside. I wanted to confirm that everything was fine. Maybe, it was the fact that she resembled my mate, or that If I ever wanted to have a mate, I would want it to be her. Since her first day here her strength, her confidence, the way she looked dead at me in the eye when she talked to me, had me attracted to her. Not just my body, but my mind, heart and soul.I didn't intend to take her to the greenhouse because that was a place I made for my

The Talk At The Lake
The sun was high in the sky, spreading it's warmth like a cloak to the earth. A few puffy, white stranded clouds roamed here and there creating momentarily shade over the treetops, making it a perfect weather to wander into the woods. The chestnut brown horse neighed beside me nudging at my side seeking attention. The poor thing thought that we were ignoring him.I thrusted my fingers into his long mane and rubbed, tugging him along with his rein in my hand. The princess didn't really need to bring him along because she was walking with us, either way. Now, he was accompanying us only to satisfy the royal protocols. The loud cackling of the trio with me echoed in the forest and I focused my attention on them."What is so humorous there to scare away all the birds here with your laugh?" I teased them. Once again laughing, Genis chose to answer me. "Once, a few months ago, we were going to the town, you see. You know, secretly. And then a huge army of monkeys was sitting there in the

The Revelation
Throwing the doors open of the high priest's chamber, I barged straight in and found him perched on a rocking chair with an old book in his hands. The whole place was illuminated by the rays of the setting sun coming through the window. "What are you here for, my child? Well, you did come at the right time, I was thinking about summoni-" I couldn't suppress my impatience so I halted his sentence."Why didn't you tell me?" I exclaimed and his face scrunched up in utter confusion. "I know that the King is going to reject me. But why did you not tell me about this? I want to know everything." I said, this time more calmly.Realisation hit him and he relaxed into his chair. "well then," he drawled and pointed to a chair beside the bed for me to sit. "About 20 years ago, I had a dream or, more suitably, a vision. I saw you in it. That was where I first saw you, actually. You were fighting. In some glimpses it was with others and in some, it was with the King himself." He paused and looked
