The Heat

My whole being was on fire. Fire that threatened to melt my skin and burn my bones to ashes. With a loud gasp I sat up looking out for my surroundings. Everything was dark and perfectly fine but my body still felt like molten lava was poured over me and there was a low pain in my abdomen that promised to be more tormenting as the time passed.

I fumbled in the dark for the water on my bedside. I took large gulps of chilled water and laid back. The pain never subsided, it only became more vigorous causing me to let out painful whimpers. I didn't know whatever was happening, I couldn't even lift my fingers from the exhaustion.

Wriggling and thrashing, I didn't even realise when the first ray of morning's sun peeped into my room or when the doors flew open. Someone called my name frantically and came to my side touching my arms and forehead. I tried to calm my breathing and focused on the voice. "What happened Seraphina? Are you hurt? I'll help, tell me!" Adelia.

"A-adel, it-it burns."
