Chapter 20
ZESA RUSSO Levi took my suitcase and went into the house. I so desperately wished to hug him from behind and kiss him, but I was afraid of how he would react. His feelings for me weren’t quite there yet. Inside the house, the delicious aroma of food wafted through the air and my stomach reacted with a growl. I had yet to have a proper meal since I woke up. I only had a cup of coffee before boarding the plane. As I hoped, Levi did not go to work because of me. I made a beeline for the dinner table to see what he had prepared. Tafelspitz—beef boiled in a broth of vegetables and spices. The next was Knödel—a sweet and savory dumpling that served as the side dish. For desert, it was Kaiserschmarrn—basically fluffy shredded pancakes. It was topped with jam and caramelized dry fruits. The mere sight of it was enough to make me want to drool. Trying my possible best to not look touched, I sat down at the dinner table. “You did this…” I trailed off, placing my handbag down on th

Chapter 21
ZESA RUSSO Pulling my bra off my body, he attacked my breasts with bites and kisses, leaving marks while I shook underneath him. Nerves pinched at my stomach when he cupped both breasts in his hands, stroking over my erect nipples while his lips traveled to the crook of my neck, pressing open-mouthed kisses against my hot skin. The heat between my legs intensified, growing like a wild fire at every touch from him. “Levi,” I whimpered when he bit down on my shoulder, sending waves of pleasure through me. There was a growing dampness in my pussy and I ached for more of him. He kissed me as if asking me to be quiet, pushing my head back down onto the pillow as his kiss became harder and my body became hotter with lust. The need between us became a lot more obvious as we grasped each other in a passion of kisses and caresses. Too engrossed in the kiss, I did not know when he undid the string of my pants. My breath hitched in my throat when I felt his hand graze my dampened c

ZESA RUSSO DISCLAIMER: This chapter might be triggering for some readers. Mention of child abuse. Read at your own risk. Two weeks had gone by since Levi and I had sex. I used to hear people say sex sometimes brought people closer and in my case; it was true. We got closer and often did a lot of things together. I finally felt like a woman in marriage. I didn’t have to wait until midnight for him to come home; I didn’t have to eat alone because he always made time to eat with me. Everything was perfect. Today, we were headed to Hope world orphanage. We planned on going to see Louryn during the week. Last week, she agreed to go to school. We were even more surprised when she said she wanted to stay in the country to further her education. Something about not wanting to keep running away. Levi parked the car in front of the building of the orphanage—a three story building on the outskirts of town with a garden out in the front and a playground just on its west boundary. T

Chapter 23
NINA MEYERS I did not know what I was thinking when I agreed to work for Zesa. I guess I thought she wouldn’t do what her eyes said because of my condition. I was wrong. Very wrong. I might have seen her as a woman with a kind heart who wouldn’t treat a pregnant woman harshly, but the few days I’d spent in their home told me otherwise. I’d only learned that she had two sides. She could be a woman like an angel and she could be the devil. I stood in front of the washing machine in the laundry room, putting in the clothes she gave me to wash. Most of them were clean, by the way. As I put them in, I heard her footsteps from behind me. It could only be her because Levi was not home. He’d left in the early hours of the morning for an important meeting. I’d heard them discussing. He left the mother of his child alone with his insane wife. “Why are you putting those clothes in the washing machine?” she queried, going to take them out before throwing them into the laundry basket

Chapter 24
ZESA RUSSO The following day, I carried up a tray of food for Levi. He had had nothing to eat since Marie came over and it was time for lunch. It seemed his mother’s words only chased away his appetite. I entered the room and closed the door. Levi was seated on the floor, resting his back on the bed with his head in his hands. He’d been like that since his mother left; downcast. I placed the food on the nightstand and sat beside him. “Do you want to talk about it?” I asked, pulling my legs up to my chest. He forced a smile when he caught my eyes. “I have disappointed her.” He told me, “She had never looked at me like she did today. The way she glared at me made me feel worthless; a disgrace. I understand I fell in love with the wrong woman and even got her pregnant, but am I at fault for thinking she was the one? Am I at fault for wanting to go to who my heart wanted?” Tears glistened his eyes. “I don’t know if I can ever face her again after everything. She hates me.”

Chapter 25
ZESA RUSSO After the mini threat I got from Alejandro, the first person I went to was Finn. I couldn’t even go to see Neviah. I would call and explain things to her later. While in the elevator in my company, I got a text from an unknown number. Most likely Nina. Isiah King Come to the uncompleted building in Dolphin Street and make sure you come alone. 7p.m sharp. Fear gripped me instantly. How did she know who Isiah King was? Did Alejandro really dig into my past? With jelly legs, I made my way to Finn’s office, ignoring the workers who greeted me as they passed by. I did not know what people would think if they heard about what happened to him after he met up with me. And knowing Nina, she would spice the whole thing up and make look like the bad guy. I opened the door to Finn’s office. He came to his feet when he saw me. “Hey, are you okay?” he questioned, coming over to me as I went sat down on the couch in his office. “They’ve done it.” I gripped my hair, my bre

LEVI DEL CAMPA DISCLAMER: I am not a medical practitioner, so what I write here might not be how it actually happens. Remember, this is a fictional story, so please don’t come for my head. I sat in the living room of the apartment me and Zesa got Louryn that was close to the University of Vienna, where she wanted to school. We’d gotten her the things she and her child would need. I sat in the living room on a dark brown couch with Kailea in my arms. She was adorable. Louryn and her daughter looked a lot better compared to the first time I saw them. Louryn was happier, and it brightened my day. She returned to the living room with the glass of water I’d asked for and placed it on the center table. She took Kailea from me, probably worried she was making me uncomfortable. “Miss Russo didn’t come with you? Is she okay?” “She’s fine. There’s something she had to take care of.” “In that case, my regards to her then.” She pulled out an envelope from underneath the table. “T

Chapter 27
MALENA RUSSO I left Austria when I was eighteen years old and it had been eight entire years since I came back. My sister and I would normally video call. Aside from that, we didn’t really see or talk to each other, but were on very good terms. Zesa would always send me money and gifts without me asking. It always made me happy. The only person who’d seen me since I left the country was Finn. Zesa would often send him over to see how I was doing. So, imagine my rage when Finn called to tell me my sister was hospitalized, almost shaking hands with death because of some bitch who wouldn’t leave her husband alone. I left Berkley immediately after I got the news. I wanted to see how my sister was doing and give the woman who hurt her a little punishment for trying to take away my only family. With Levi’s direction, we could get to the police station where Nina was detained. I parked the car properly and got down. What a good day to smack a bitch into Christmas Eve! We went i

Chapter 28
LEVI DEL CAMPA It had been five weeks since the incident, and Zesa had yet to regain consciousness. We’d been told she had become stable, and all we had to do was hope she would wake up soon. I wanted to hold her in my arms and tell her everything that had happened. Like Nina getting sentenced to twenty-one years in prison for attempted murder. I wanted to tell her how much I missed her, but I wondered if I would ever get the chance. I sat beside her bed with her hand in mine. They had removed the oxygen mask and replaced it with a nasal cannula and moved her from the Intensive care unit to the step-down unit. The step-down unit was where a patient would still be closely monitored before being transferred to a regular hospital floor and then hopefully, home. It gave us little hope. She was getting better. Malena entered the room with Finn. After her mini assault to Nina, she told me she felt a tad bit better, but it still wasn’t enough for her. I understood her anger wel

Chapter 29
ZESA RUSSO I woke up to the sickly smell of hospital disinfect invading my nostrils. The room was fairly silent apart from my heavy breathing and the beeping sound from the digital monitoring machine beside me. I squinted in an attempt to sharpen the blurred images before me, glancing around the room to take in my surrounding. A bed dominated the room, somewhat lumpy with padding and white sheets that seemed to mask the thick plastic covering the mattress. There was a call button attached to the bed, a bedside table, a comfortable chair and two dining type chairs. The room was decorated in a gold and white color. It was definitely a VIP room. I shut my eyes, trying to remember what had happened to me, but no matter how much I tried to remember, only blurry images came to me. How long had I been here? Then it hit me. I fell off a building after someone pushed me. The cold air hitting my face as I plummeted towards the hard ground. I vividly recalled a woman’s laughter and how pain jol
