“That’s Moira’s cousin Leroy.” Kelly pointed to someone in the crowd. Standing beside a huge burly man was a mid-schooler way taller than most middle schoolers, his gray pullover hoodie hung on his lean frame. He stood awkwardly, waiting for the man and woman who bore a striking resemblance to Moira, to finish greeting the bereaved family. After a while, he looked over and saw Cara and Kelly waving him over. His brows shot up but he strode slowly to meet us.“Hey, Leroy. Is Moira still holed up at home?”His raised brows lowered to a frown. “Moira isn’t home,” he said in a low voice that was once again way too deep for someone of 12 or 13.He glanced at Liam and Jeff his eyes now wide with questions. My heart fell to my stomach. I held my breath to calm my beating heart but I couldn’t shake the fear that my suspicions are right. Moira is not just missing. She has probably fallen victim to the danger under WhiSare’s calm.Leroy’s eyes darted in my direction and he tilted his head sligh

If I could even call them that. Gone was their human features. In place was inhuman beauty and clawed fingers. They had the black and red eyes of hungry daemons. Leo bared at his teeth, red eyes flashing from me to Kayla to Miles and Silver.A chilly wind blew against my flesh but what pricked the hair on my skin was the cold look in Moira’s eyes. Her lips stretched in a terrifying smile.Leo smiled with satisfaction as the rest of us looked shocked at the sight before us. He took a step forward. Silver growled and took a step toward him but Kayla shot out a hand to hold her back.“That’s right. Hold your dog back before I tear her in shreds.”It was Kayla’s turn to step forward, her eyes flashed a glowing red with flashes of amber.“You overstep your boundaries you worthless fool. Silver doesn’t need me to hold her back to destroy you. Why did you do this?” she asked gesturing to the body in the rocky depression. “What do you want?”“Starlight.”Kayla glanced quickly at me. Perfect a

The interior of the Storms’ house was classy if a little bare. There were almost no chairs, just one of two couches and a center table in the living room when I walked in. The walls were painted white and the windows were shaded with dark curtains. A staircase wound to the second floor to a landing that had a black rail balcony.“Have a seat,” Kayla motioned, her voice tight as she spoke.I obeyed but I had barely taken my seat when a strange small figure appeared on the landing right above the staircase. I recognized the face immediately. It was the face in my dream. Her ebony black hair fell in a wavy curtain around her shoulders, red eyes set in the most beautiful young face ever peered curiously at me.Kayla made a sound and my eyes drifted to her. She had the look of an overprotective mama bear. “Come here Starlight, someone is dying to see you,” she drawled.Starlight walked down the stairs, her movement ethereal and regal almost like she was floating. She stopped on the bottom

I didn’t expect mom to readily agree to my leaving WhiSare, especially during the crisis going on, and truly she wasn’t ready to believe the lie I told that I needed a vacation in dad’s summer villa just yet. She stood over me like an overprotective mama bear watching me pack my bags later that night asking if Cara knew I was leaving, if it was necessary for me to go, if my leaving had anything that do with the missing persons and frankly I wanted to tell her the truth but what good would it do when it would only increase her anxiety and overprotective mama bear instincts? So I repeated the same lies over again. “I just need to go away for a bit. Yes, it’s a bit overwhelming being new in town with all this bad news about missing people.”“But you don’t have to leave. Weren’t you just worried about my safety after Tessa’s Candle service?”“The more reason I should leave because I don’t want to cause you any more worries than you already have. I know this sounds selfish but Logan is he

Miles carried our bags to the storage area. Two hostesses assisted him, carrying the bags through the center aisle to the back. Silver collected the keys. She left us for a few minutes and when she came back she was dressed in flying gear with a pair of headphones, to muffle the sound of the engines, tucked under her arm. She handed one to Miles as soon as he was done loading our things. Kayla boarded the plane with Starlight behind her. Starlight immediately went to the cabin to sleep leaving me and Kayla alone in the sitting area. She chose a sit at the other side away from me. Silver came to the back carrying snacks with a wide smile. She looked between me and Kayla with a knowing grin. "Is this your first time on a private plane, pretty boy?" I raised my brow at her. "My father is one of the richest men in the world. Do you think we don't have a set of our own?" Silver chuckled raising her hands in surrender. "Okay pretty boy, don't get too salty..." "My name is Shawn!" "
