Chapter 41
The second bell rings and I slide into my spot outside of Alexander's bedroom. I keep my eyes trained on the ground just like I have been taught all of these years. Only look Royalty in their eyes when necessary. Up until today I did not think much about this rule but today I am nothing more than a servant. I have decided that I will be nothing more than a servant for the rest of my life. If staying a servant keeps the rogue camp safe then I will never strive to be more than what I already am. As I stare down at my scuffed up shoes I notice that the skirt of my maid's uniform is horribly wrinkled from being tossed on the floor several days ago. Using the palms of my hands I try to smooth out the wrinkles from my skirt when the smell of vanilla ensnares my senses. I look up and see Alexander standing in front of me with a wicked smile on his face. "You have been dismissed from your duties," he says as he reaches down and takes one of my hands in his own. Slowly I peel my ha

Chapter 42
All eyes are on me as I walk down the hall following Larissa to the dining room. The soft pink gown with white lace rustles quietly with each step that I take. As we pass by the servants no one lowers their head in respect or bares their neck to me. Instead they all glare at me angrily. I should be walking with my head held high but I cannot help but stare at the ground as I walk. I know after they found me alone in the servants bathroom with him, they all think that I have slept my way into my new title. But that could not be farther from the truth. There is nothing I want less than to be in Alexander's bed. Outwardly I shutter at the thought of him touching me. Larissa, on the other hand, is walking in front of me with her head held high, sneering at the other servants as we pass by. The other servants are smiling at her brightly before they turn their cold eyes on me. If they only knew that she is the rat that has been feeding the King information about them. The ide

And so the week went on. Every morning Larissa would invite herself into my room and wake me. I would put on one of the fine gowns that hang carelessly in the wardrobe and follow her down to breakfast. All of the servants glare at me on my way down to the dining room. Whispers and gossip follow me everywhere through the castle. They speak about how they see me coming and going from the Kings chambers every night and how they see our stolen kisses when we believe that no one is watching. Of course all of it is lies, no doubt spread by Larissa at the request of the King. In reality I spend every night trying to pick the lock of my bedroom door and every moment I spend with Alexander we spend bickering over how I am not being a proper chosen mate. This morning is no different than the last. I had hoped that I would be able to have my breakfast in my room this morning because it is a Saturday. But as soon as the second bell rings, I hear the key in the lock of my bedroom door,

Chapter 44
"Your wolf is breathtaking," Alexander says as he stalks towards me still in his human form. "I have never seen a white wolf in person before." He reaches out his hand to stroke Adeline's fur but she snaps at his hand when his hand is within inches of her fur. A rough snarl erupts from behind me and I realize that I have forgotten that Raphael is behind me. Adeline continues to inch her way away from Alexander not caring about the evil growls that she hears from behind her. Out of the corner of her eyes I see the King's guard slowly inching their way around me. I had kept my focus on Alexander for too long and the guards have now fully surrounded me. I have no chance for escape. Step by step each of the wolves come closer and closer to me until I can feel their breath against my fur. Alexander snaps his fingers and one of his guards lunges forward and sinks his teeth into my back leg. Adeline howls in pain as the guard shakes my leg. The sound of my bone snapping echoes th

Chapter 45
Natalia POVMy back is against something hard as my eyes flutter open. I look at the world around me and realize that I do not know where I am. Never in this life or the last have I ever been in such a dark and depressing place. I try to move but the pain in my thighs is still strong. Reaching down with one of my hands I try to feel the damage that was left by the castle guards. As I move my hands the clanging of chains catches my attention. Holding my wrists up in the air I see that each one is cuffed and a heavy chain has me attached to the cot where I am laying. With one hand I explore the cuff on the other hand and it stings against my touch. Silver. The cuffs must be made from silver. I try to straighten myself back up in the bed and the clattering of the chains pierces the silence of the dismal place that I am trapped in. Looking at my surroundings I finally realize where I am. As my eyes adjust to the light I can see that large metal bars surround the small area th

Chapter 46
Victor POVWalking back from the sight of Natalia’s blood, Jax will not stop crying in my mind. He knows that our mate is in danger and he wants to go to her now. I keep trying to explain to him that we need to formulate a plan but it is like talking to a brick wall. Gerard meets me at the edge of the rogue camp with a knowing look on his face. “I took the liberty of calling a camp meeting,” he tells me. I don’t bother to ask how he knows that my mate is in danger. I just continue to walk towards the crowd that is gathering slowly in the middle of the camp. The smell of Natalia’s blood is haunting my mind as I stand in front of the group of rogues that have gathered in the middle of the rogue camp. No, not the rogue camp. This is the village that I created out of those that my brother felt were no longer worthy to be a part of his pack. Those that were no longer worthy to be a part of his Kingdom. When I first came to the rogue camp after my brother banished me from the King

Chapter 47
Natalia POVThe silver cuffs around my wrists are keeping Adeline at bay. Without her help I am feeling like nothing more than a human. My thighs are still stinging in pain from where the guards wounded me and I am freezing. Sitting on the little cot that is placed in the middle of my cell, I hug my knees to my chest. Resting my head on my knees I wait for the meal that Raphael promised to bring me. The sound of water dripping in the distance only serves to remind me that I am settled in the cave systems. Someone raps loudly on my cell bars. I look up to see one of the guards that cornered me in the forest holding a tray of food in his hands. There is an inquisitive look on his face. "There is a rumor floating around the guards about you," he says as he slides the tray under my cell door. Slowly I get up from my cot and try to reach the tray of food but the cuffs on my wrist stop me about two inches from where I can reach it. I widen my eyes in sadness and shift my view to

Chapter 48
Victor POVI waste no time shifting into my wolf and taking off after the rogue brother that just went barreling past me. The sound of wolves running behind me continues to get louder and louder as I run towards the rogue camp. The rogue brother skids to a stop just ahead of me and looks toward the direction of the rogue camp and myself. We do not need the ability to mind link in order for me to know what he is thinking. If we keep running toward the rogue camp we are leading the castle guards right to them. The rogues are unprepared for a fight. If we return home we are surely sentencing many from the rogue camp to their deaths. Jax skids to a stop beside the brother and he nips at his flank to grab his attention. Gesturing his head in the opposite direction of the rogue camp, Jax leads the brother towards the spring. The spring is the perfect location to divert the castle guards to. As I take off running towards the line of trees in the distance I can hear the rogue broth

Chapter 49
Natalia POVThe chains that connect my hands together clink quietly as I follow Raphael through the castle. My legs are sore from the wounds that are on both of them and I am finding it hard to keep up with Raphael's wide steps. When I fall behind Raphael yanks on the chains pulling me along like I am some sort of cattle. Tripping over my own feet as I try to lift my feet to climb the front stairs of the castle, I fall flat on my face. I can hear the sound of those standing around me snickering as I try to get back to my feet but I am unsuccessful and fall flat once again. By the time I manage to climb back to my feet both my knees and my hands are bloodied from falling on the hard stone of the stairs. My eyes search those that are standing around me but I do not see sympathy in anyone's eyes. One loathing and disdain. Raphael is standing with his arm across his chest with an annoyed look on his face. "I'm sorry," I whisper to Raphael as I climb to my feet. "My legs are not
