CHAPTER TENAlpha Luggard didn't give me enough time to tell Mark a proper goodbye and it hurts like hell but I can't protest because I don't know what could happen to us if I do so I just stay quiet even though I hate it so much and manage the little time he gave to me to tell my brother goodbye.Mark starts to cry immediately when I tell him that I'm leaving and I don't know when the tears start to fall down my face too but I quickly clean them off before he sees and I smile at him.“Don't worry, you'll be in good hands. I made a friend and he is quite nice so he'll be the one to take good care of you, okay love” I say to him and he just nods even though his eyes say otherwise.I know it won't be easy without me at first but with time, he'll get used to Luca's presence and be fine. It's all just a period of time before he is good.“I don't want you to leave me, Hera. I need you with me” he cries on and I'm at loss for words to say to soothe him. I don't know what to do anymore so I

CHAPTER THIRTEENHera's povIs this the moon goddess's way of helping me? Is this why she let me loose to Alpha Luggard? So I'll meet the other mate she has destined for me who's also an Alpha?I'm still staring at this man who identified himself as Alpha Hugh with huge eyes and I notice his electric blue eyes, his slightly plump lower lip and thin upper lip, his perfectly chiseled jaw, his dark shiny hair that runs down his neck and I notice his smile. He's smiling at me for no reason.I quickly pull my hand from his hold when I quickly recover myself and I try to control my heart, stopping it from beating too fast.“You're the Alpha?” I ask him to be sure I heard correct the first time and he nods.“That's correct. I'm Alpha Hugh of this pack, Silvercrest pack” he replies and I go silent because I don't know what to say.“Grey” he suddenly says out of nowhere and I look at him.“What?” I ask, wondering what he meant by grey and he gives a one-sided smile that almost makes my heart m

CHAPTER FIFTEENIt's already dark and I'm in the room that was given to me. I already had my bath and I'm dressed in a simple sleeveless knee-length dress. I went extra by brushing my hair well then I braid the front of my hair from both sides and tie it up at the back of my head.I look in the mirror and there is still a cut on the corner of the lower part of my lips and it's really visible. I gently brush my finger over it and it hurts so I wince a little before I endure the rest of the pain and lay on the bed. My body still hurts and I have bruises here and there on my arms, legs, and stomach but I feel better than I did when I hadn't cleaned up yet. There's nothing for me to do, nobody to speak to and I'm bored but a part of me is scared to wander around the palace because I don't want to bump into the Alpha or any of his subordinates. I feel it would be awkward. So I just lay in bed doing nothing.Suddenly my wristwatch begins to beep and I jolt up in surprise before I look at th

CHAPTER SEVENTEENHera's POVMy heart is still beating erratically while I eat and it's hard to swallow as Hugh stares at me like there is nothing to concentrate on in the kitchen. The cut on my lip is burning as I eat but I hardly notice it because my hands are still shaky from the unexpected kiss I just had with him.I didn't see it coming. I didn't expect it to happen so fast, but then I could feel the magnetic draw between us and how he kept on staring at me with so much intensity so it was understandable if he couldn't help himself but kiss me. After all, I'm his mate.I take the last of the pasta on my plate and chew then I swallow nervously like I've been doing since I started eating. I drop my fork loudly and rush off to get water which I drink in a rush. I can still feel Hugh's eyes boring into my back and I know I have to leave the kitchen as fast I can before I do something I'll wake up to regret tomorrow.I'm too slow though, because as soon as I return the cup, I feel a p

I regain my senses back after that coded statement and wink that Alpha Hugh gave me and I turn to see he's gone quite far so I run to catch up with him and he smiles at me again while I grin shyly.God that smile of his, I hated it before but now, I just want him to keep on smiling at me like that.I may not stay in his pack for long because once I get all the information that Alpha Luggard wants to get for him, they'll attack the pack and he may likely get killed since he's the alpha and would have to be with the warriors when they're defending the pack but before then, I want to enjoy this moment with him, I want to know how it feels to have a mate that wants you too. Then after that, I'll leave and start afresh with Mark somewhere else.I feel guilty though, that I'm putting the whole pack in such danger. I was rejected by one mate and now I'm the one orchestrating the downfall of the other mate I get… I must say, maybe I was cursed from birth and the effect of the curse is just ma
