"Have you heard the news? Janine and Charles are having an affair."The breaking news went viral in the company almost overnight; today's careers offered more opportunity for extramarital affairs, for example Charles as the vice CEO and the head of Marketing and his newly young and beautiful Secretary-Janine.It didn't occur to Lisa that Janine would tolerate a man older than her father, besides Charles was neither sexy nor funny.Unlike talking about the gossip of Joseph, people were being judgmental and critical about Janine, using the worst swearword in the world. One of the most elementary rules of life was never hit a man when he was down-in other words, never took advantage of a person's misfortune. Although what had happened in the office caused Lisa and Janine were not incompatible, Lisa did not want to talk about Janine behind her back for this matter.Lisa was too busy to studying at night and occasional weekends to get a MBA degree with Peter's recommendation, she was so th

Lisa truly understood the unpredictability of life, which often changed within an instant without being noticed. Just when it seemed life was going well, Peter's sudden death from acute myocardial infarction was devastating.Sometimes life hit you in head with a brick, two days later Charles took his place as the CEO of the company. The day before it all happened, Peter felt uncomfortable because he got a cold. Lisa asked him if he need to take the day off to go to the hospital, Peter interpreted his illness as being less severe. So he took some cold medicine and went back to work.Peter took good care of his body, he did not smoke or drink, eating healthy food and doing sports twice a week. When Lisa was about to go off work, she found out that Peter was fall sleep on the sofa in his office, she knew it was the pill so she did not care to wake him up.She had class the night and she told Alex that Peter was asleep, then Lisa left the company. The next day morning she had been told th

Lisa began to walk faster to catch up to Penny and Rebecca, finally she caught them before they had gone far. Penny was both sad and angry, Rebecca patted her back and tried to comfort her."Penny, are you all right? I swear to God I don't know how this will happen. I felt awfully guilty for not helping you." Said Lisa who was still trying to gulp air after running."Lisa, things had moved too fast for my mind to keep up. But I think Kenny did not really like you. Penny, listen to me. What I have found was that Kenny knew that you would ask him, but he was too afraid to facing you. I have a friend who had a great tactic for dealing with unwanted chat ups -go nuclear early by saying her husband was a mercenary. Kenny went first in order to shut you up. According to my observation, he was very avoidant. Normally avoidant people want to be in relationships-because we are all programmed to get attached to other people- but they acted weird when they get close to a person. You can't hold b

"Hello, Haven't seen you for a long time. How are you doing? Lisa."Joseph was standing in front of her desk at the office, looking at Lisa with the smile showed he had got his way. Lisa felt shocked and totally disorientated by his unexpected arrival. They had agreed to keep a secret about their relationship until it was the right time. Lisa gave him a challenging look and stood up. Before she could say anything, Joseph walked pass her desk and went to Charles's office, Lisa took a few deep breaths to steady her nerves and went back on working.Joseph's visit would provide some juicy gossip in the tea room for a few days. Lisa pretended she wasn't interested but the expression on her face was a dead giveaway. Psychologist would say that women made better liars because they were psychologically more sophisticated, they made plans and have strategies whereas men were more impulsive. The biggest difference, however, was that women were much better at keeping their affairs a secret."I w

Joseph's Mother-Lucy looked very grave when she waltzed into the house as if she owned it and threw off her coat. As soon as she saw Joseph and Lisa she knew what was going on, she walked towards the sofa and sat down. Joseph and Lisa were standing in front of the sofa.Lucy was small, plainly dressed and wore no make-up, she managed to impart great elegance to the unpretentious dress she was wearing, as a veteran cadre still remained her philosophy of hard work and plain-living. Lisa could not gather form her expression whether she was happy or angry, it was tightly locked down. However, her tone was cutting and haughty. She managed to produce a dim, watery smile while speaking."Son, it seems that she is the reason you come to Dong city so often. "Lisa had never met Lucy or saw her picture, but Joseph would not stop talking about his bossy mother. From his story she was capable of being very difficult, and that was the understatement of the year. It was unfair to judge her on such
