CHAPTER 41. Surprise
? I held onto Cassian’s arm as we made our way to where Herman and the rest were. They immediately turned their attention to the both of us when we approached them. Herman had a rather friendly face but it was easy to notice the authority he had behind that charming smile. Cassian’s father on the other hand was a complete contrast. He was openly irritated and had frown lines around his face. But even so, I could see that this would be how Cassian would look if he was older. My gaze then fell on a petite young lady besides her Herman and it was obvious that she had feelings for Cassian by the way her eyes were drawn to him without even sparring me a glance. “Your Majesty, Father, I would like to introduce you to Princess Cordelia, heir to the Southern Kingdom’s throne and also my future wife.” Cassian lovingly introduced me. I curtsied politely and offered them a smile. “I apologise for not greeting you soon, Emperor Herman, Grand Duke Charles, and Princess Olivera.” Herman

CHAPTER 42. Locked In
Learning about the history of royalty in all the different kingdoms was such? a tedious thing to do when I was younger. Naturally, I enjoyed reading and learning new things but at some point I came to realise the amount of death and betrayal involved when you become involved in politics and the throne. Jealous relatives are often the cause of many deaths. Just in my own kingdom’s history alone there have been five cases of emperors or to-be emperors dying under mysterious circumstances. If I consider the history of noblemen and assassinations then that list would be too long to even form. From the very moment I accepted the responsibilities of ascending to the throne, I was very much aware that there would be people who would not be happy with that decision. I knew that if there were signs of disagreement then signs of plotting against the throne would follow behind. Thinking and anticipating was one thing but directly experiencing it in the form of a strange man running towards

CHAPTER 43. Sweet Scent
? “What is that sweet scent…? Is that coming from you?” Cassian asked hesitantly but his grip around me had yet to loosen. “Please let go…” I struggled to even say, tugging my hand with whatever strength I could fathom.? Cassian’s alpha scent was driving me to the brink of madness as I could feel my body start to tremble before him. I was so preoccupied with thinking about how I was going to get away from Cassian that I had not realised that my heat arrived earlier than expected. “Is this…” he started before realisation caused him to recoil from me. He backed away significantly, acting as though I had the plague. I was grateful that he did so, as I took backwards steps until the back of my legs bumped into the couch. I flopped down, hand clutching onto my dress as I struggled to breathe properly. “It’s my heat.” I told him between heavy pants. “Shit.” He muttered, covering his nose and mouth with his hand. “I thought you were monitoring your cycle?” he sighed as he starte

CHAPTER 44. Induced Heat
? The sounds of urgent footsteps could be heard approaching our direction. Just before Cassian’s teeth could dig into my neck, the door was particularly smashed open. The familiar faces of the royal guards appeared and in an instant Rodrick pushed Captain Evander away from the door. “All alphas get out of here! Now!” he commended when he realised what was happening. “Argh…” Evander groaned as he shakily ordered the alphas to move away from the room before my scent overwhelmed them. I caught a glimpse of both Isaiah and Augustus as they looked down at me with such lust in their eyes before the beta guards had to escort them away. The commotion made Cassian snap out of it, pulling his body away from me just as Rodrick rushed towards us. I watched as Cassian brought his hand to his mouth and bit hard, breaking flesh until blood trickled down. Rodrick stood between us as a few more guards entered to take Cassian away. “Princess!” Rodrick called out, kneeling in front of me as I

CHAPTER 45. An Omega’s Charm
? “How are you feeling, sister?” Aiden asked, taking my hand and giving it a firm squeeze. “I’m fine. I’m sorry to have worried you and mother.” I said, turning to my mother who was by his side. “We’re just glad you are well. With all the commotion last night, we could not even check on you. I’m glad Gideon brought us up to speed.” She said as she reached to caress my cheek, thumb brushing against my cheekbone. I let out a small laugh at how she still treats me like a little girl even though I was particularly taller than her now. It was a new day and the kingdom was awakened by the news of the assassination attempt that had happened last night. Most of the guests had returned to the safety of their homes while the guests from faraway stayed the night with extra security to protect them. According to mother, Gideon had been working hard alongside Captain Evander and? Rodrick throughout the night to make sure there were no more suspicious characters lurking around. “Shall

CHAPTER 46. Apology
? Nasir cleared his throat when he came to the realisation that he was being rather rude to laugh at me like that even though I do not mind it. If he found whatever I said to be amusing then so be it but I was curious as to what made him laugh in the first place. “Did I say something amusing?” I questioned. “Oh no, no, pardon me Your Highness. I just never imagined hearing those words in the same sentence.” I frowned, clearly not understanding what he meant. But before I could ask him for an explanation, he stopped walking which prompted me to stop too. I noticed the Eastern Kingdom guards stationed outside the room, their gazes not once turning to me as though they were trained to stay stoic. Nasir knocked on the door two times before taking a step back. “Who is it?” Karim’s small voice called out from the other side. “It’s me and I have a guest with me.” He said. A moment later and the door was pulled open by little Karim. He peaked out of the small gap from the door,

CHAPTER 47. Preparations
? “Are you sure you are alright, princess?” Rodrick asked as I was going through a stack of documents. “Don’t bother asking Rodrick, she is too focused to respond to our questions at the moment.” Gideon said, sounding as though he was teasing me. “I’m perfectly fine.” I said, not bothering to look up at them but from the corner of my eyes I could see Gideon shrugging. A week has passed since my debutante party and since the assassination attempt. The guests from faraway have all returned to their respective kingdoms, excluding the few people from the Eastern and Western Kingdom who remained at the palace to serve Isaiah and Cassian. When I had found out that Augustus’ parents did not send anyone to serve him, I decided to see if any of my staff members would help out but even then, Augustus had simply sent them away. Whenever I tried to confront him and ask why he didn't want someone to help him, all he said was that he preferred to do things by himself. I decided to respec

CHAPTER 48. Boundaries
? The atmosphere in the council room was suffocating to say the least as the alphas entered the room one by one in complete silence. They took their seats, not even looking or greeting me as per usual whereas I just sat at the head of the table, waiting patiently for them to settle. The scene was rather familiar, reminding me of the day I had announced to them that I was going to marry all three of them. Isaiah sat on my right while Augustus and Cassian sat to my left. After they had settled down, I decided to start by telling them why I had gathered them in such short notice but naturally, things hardly went my way. “No guards to keep you company today?” Cassian asked, noting how it was just the four of us in the room and since this was such a last moment gathering, there were no guards outside the room as well. “I was expecting to see that annoying guard of yours since he follows you around like a dog he is.” Isaiah blatantly said while leaning back onto his chair nonchalan

CHAPTER 49. One Step Closer
“Today is the day!” I was jolted awake by Anne’s booming voice and a moment later she pulled open the curtains, allowing the bright sunlight to enter my room and particularly blind me. I flinched away, turning over to my front as I buried my face into the soft pillow. “Wake up, princess! We have much to do!” “5 more minutes…” I muttered, not wanting to get off my bed since I knew what was awaiting me today. I was going to officially get married to three alphas today, the long awaited wedding was finally happening. Anne pulled onto my bed covers, tugging it off me. I turned my head to glare at her. “Let’s go Princess! It’s time to get ready!” I let out a groan and pushed myself up into a seated position. “Why are you more excited for this than I am?” I asked her, sleep heavy in my voice. “That’s because I adore weddings! Especially ones that are held by royalty or noblemen, everything is just so elegant and extravagant.” “You sound rather superficial, my dear Anne. And h

CHAPTER 50. Last Warning
? Lady Marie observed me carefully, probably trying to see any change in my behaviour at her sudden arrival. I tried to feign ignorance while still remaining alert. I slowly moved away from the door, never once turning my back to her in a casual manner. “I wanted to check up on you, of course. Since your mother is busy at the grand hall making sure everything is perfect for her daughter’s big day, I thought that you would need some… moral support. Is it not sad to be all by yourself right now?” She said with an innocent smile. “You must be very nervous since you will be marrying not only one but three men at the same time.” I let out a polite chuckle. “Thank you for your concern, I truly appreciate it. But Lady Marie, you speak as if marrying multiple partners is a sin. It has been practised by my ancestors after all. I am merely following tradition.” “And so you say, but we both know you are not marrying them for love, Cordelia.” “Ah. Could it be another condition you are
