(Lily's POV)I had just finished tying Alfonso's tie after our intense sexual encounter when the door was opened and Gloria walked in.“You have someone here to see you.” She said.“I'll go and get you lunch, sir.” I nodded and was about to leave when Alfonso stopped me.“Who is the meeting with?” He asked Gloria.“Mr. Castellano.” She replied. As he stood up and adjusted his suit, he stated, “Let Gloria get the lunch; I will need you to join me in this meeting.” He wrote something down and handed it to Gloria. “That is the lunch order. Lily, let's go.”“I’ll grab my notepad.” I said as I rushed to my desk.Gloria didn't seem very happy to be the one running around getting food. But the boss said she had to get it, so that's exactly what she was going to do.We walked in, and surprisingly, it was one of the men I had researched when I was going through his calendar. I also looked at his work, and he wasn't doing so well at bringing profits to the company. I didn't know if Alfonso didn

(Lily’s POV)I didn't have a good night's sleep; I kept wondering where Alfonso had run off to and why he lied about it.I had just started to doze off comfortably when Frank ran into my room.“Morning.” He said this as he began jumping on the bed.I rolled over and smiled at him. “Why are you up so early?” I asked, finally realizing that I had been awake all night.“I want to go back to day care.” He exclaimed enthusiastically.I sighed as I begrudgingly got out of bed. “I will help you get ready then.”I also have to go to work. Alone this time.I looked at my phone, and there were no texts or calls from Alfonso. Maybe it had something to do with the mafia? I wondered.Lily, you don't have to overthink it; if it's business—mafia or otherwise—he won't be on his phone all the time. He'll text or call later.I helped Frank get ready as he kept telling me about the many friends he made at day care. He also has a best friend named Blaire now.“So you are having fun in day care?” I asked

(Alphonso's POV)I had been having fun with Gemma. I had forgotten just how much fun, exciting, and adventurous she was in bed.Having sex with her was exciting.I was lying beside her, and she was resting on my chest. Asleep.I usually go to sleep immediately after our lovemaking, but for some reason tonight I was unable to. I had an unsettling feeling inside me, as if a warning sign that something was wrong.I hated myself for this, but for the first time since I came here, I thought about my wife and child back home. I had no way of communicating with them, and I was sure that Lily was worried sick about me.I looked down at Gemma as I slowly slipped out of bed and went to sleep in a different room after I tied her hands on the bedpost.I was woken the next day by Gemma screaming my name.I sighed as I got out of bed and walked to her room.“Would you be quiet?” I asked as I rubbed my eyes.“What?!” She asked confused, “Why am I tied to the bed?”“I gave you what you wanted, and no

(Alphonso's POV) In an effort to ease my guilt, I had booked the best hospital room for Lily. I even started working at her hospital room just so I could be with her, protect her, and I would go home and spend time with our son, who kept asking about his mother, and I didn't know how to explain what was going on with his mom. I had been ignoring calls from the police, who were still trying to talk to me for some reason. Between running around between the office, hospital, hotel we were staying at, and home, where the police had left the mess for me to clean up, it didn't help me when I saw just how hard Lily had fought to keep Frank safe. The blood trail that showed me how she dragged herself from one room to Frank's room just to make sure he was safe. “There you are.” I heard someone say. I turned around to find Detective Smith standing behind me. “Where is your partner?” I asked as I continued to look at the mess the house was in. Frank's door was broken. I couldn't, in good f

(Alphonso's POV)I expected to be there for just an hour, but every time I would try to sneak out, someone else would pull me into conversation, and by the time I realized what had happened, it was already past eleven in the evening.I drove to the hospital, but Lily was already sedated and asleep.I kissed her forehead as I sat beside her.She turned to look at me, her eyes half open and half shut.“You took your time.” She stated in a soft voice as a smile came to her lips.“Sorry about that.” I whispered. She turned and closed her eyes. Then she turned back to me. “No problem. Gemma kept me company.” She muttered before she drifted off to sleep.I was too stunned to speak. I was trying to see if I heard her correctly.I stepped out of her room and went to the reception desk.“Hello, was there a lady in my wife's room?” I asked.“Yes. She said her name was Gemma, a friend to your wife, and you asked her to come spend time with your wife when you left.” The nurse replied.“I am stil
