SKYEHe was looking at me with eyes of betrayal that I had to look away. Keilah and Naomi also appeared to be surprised by Matthew's sudden appearance."H—how? What just happened?" he asked. I stood up from my chair and sighed before holding onto his wrist and pulling him away from the kitchen. He still did not speak, but he didn't retaliate as I continued dragging him to a secluded place. I leaned against the cold wall and bit my lips, not knowing how to start the conversation. "You...can actually speak?" he repeated the question he asked back in the kitchen. I pursed my lips together before slowly nodding my head. "I—I can," I stammered. He looked me in the eyes and appeared not to believe that actual words just came out of my mouth. He sighed and massaged the bridge of his nose. "This entire time, have you been speaking with everyone else and just not me? Are you that uncomfortable with my presence?"I quickly shook my head. "No," I said. "That's not the case," I muttered

KEILAH I felt like a cold bucket of water was being poured over my bare body. Little sister? This was the very first time I ever heard of this information. How come he never told me that he had a little sister? I bit my lip in embarrassment and held the covers tightly around my body. "Come on now. Show your face," he said, gently tugging on the covers. "No," I stubbornly said, tightening my hold even more. "Keilah," he said my name. "Take these covers off right now." "Nope," I repeated. I was way too embarrassed to show my face. I can't believe I got jealous of his little sister! He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my body while I still covered my face with the covers. "Why don't you want to show your face, huh?" Isn't it already obvious? "I'm embarrassed," I muttered under my breath. He chuckled and snuggled closer to me. "There's nothing to be embarrassed about. You just misunderstood our relationship, that's all. I guess we did look pretty close considering the f

ENZO"They're taking too long," Matthew muttered under his breath, leaning back on the reclining chair that we just finished setting up."Naomi's probably onto something again," I said. "Skye and Keilah are being stringed into her antics.""Shit," he muttered under his breath. "I still don't know how to face Skye."I raised my eyebrows in surprise. "What even happened, man? I didn't get to sit with Keilah during the drive because of the two of you."He sighed and crossed his arms in front of his chest. "I don't know," he muttered under his breath. "She kissed me."I turned to him. "And what's the problem with that?" I asked. "I thought you liked her.""I do," he said. "I really do. And it felt nice when she kissed me. But I was reminded once again that she isn't my mate. There weren't any sparks. Do you feel that way toward Keilah?" he asked. "There are no sparks," I bluntly said. "It's definitely not the same with your mate, but it's a feeling that I love. Her kiss makes me feel saf

KEILAH"Enzo," I followed after him as he went inside the house. I was holding onto his wrist, but he continued walking away. I was fresh out of the water, so I was still shivering. Enzo left as soon as Miles implied that he didn't love me, and although Miles' words hit me like a truck, I wanted to hear an explanation of why Enzo let go of me in a heartbeat. "Enzo," I repeated. "I'm getting tired."I sighed in relief when he finally stopped. "Thank you.""Sorry," he muttered under his breath. "I'm not mad," I reassured him. "I know," he said. "I'm mad at myself. I shouldn't have let you go.""Then, why did you?" I couldn't help but ask. "My body moved before I could control it," he said. "And I know that it's not an excuse, but I've always known that Mandy can't swim. I've saved her before, and I guess that instinct never went away."I pursed my lips together. I trust him a lot; I really do. So, I believe every word that he said. With my wet body, I wrapped my arms around his t

KEILAHI opened my mouth to argue, but no sound came out. I would understand if he was still mad, but this is the last thing I expected from him. “You don’t have to go back to the Belmont kingdom,” he added. “You can stay here, in your room, and live comfortably in the kingdom.”“Our room, you mean?” I asked. He sighed. “Your room. I’ll move out in the meantime. I’ll stay in the room next to this office.”I pursed my lips together to keep my tears at bay. “But…why?” I asked in a defeated voice. “II thought—I thought everything was going well.”I heard him stand up from his seat. “You lied to me,” he said. “You told me that you had met your mate, but you didn’t bother to tell me that it was Miles, my own cousin. How could you leave out such information?”“I didn’t mean to,” I muttered under my breath. “I was going to tell you,” I honestly said. “When?” he asked. “After you kissed him?”“I didn’t kiss him!” I exclaimed, my voice getting louder. “Then, what did I see?” He asked, his
