Chapter 49: Not Our Time

KEILAH

I opened my mouth to argue, but no sound came out. I would understand if he was still mad, but this is the last thing I expected from him.

“You don’t have to go back to the Belmont kingdom,” he added. “You can stay here, in your room, and live comfortably in the kingdom.”

“Our room, you mean?” I asked.

He sighed. “Your room. I’ll move out in the meantime. I’ll stay in the room next to this office.”

I pursed my lips together to keep my tears at bay.

“But…why?” I asked in a defeated voice. “II thought—I thought everything was going well.”

I heard him stand up from his seat.

“You lied to me,” he said. “You told me that you had met your mate, but you didn’t bother to tell me that it was Miles, my own cousin. How could you leave out such information?”

“I didn’t mean to,” I muttered under my breath. “I was going to tell you,” I honestly said.

“When?” he asked. “After you kissed him?”
