Chapter 21
Rebecca stopped screaming out loud but, in her mind she still was. She looked around the room wondering if she could get to the bathroom and lock the door before the man could catch her. Maybe it would be better to run out the door and across the hall to Joni’s apartment. She remembered that it was pretty late and Joni and Isaac were both most likely asleep. She eyed the man as she took deep breaths trying to think of an escape route.“Rebecca? Correct?” the man asked her calmly. She quickly whipped her head to look him directly in the eye. She nodded her head and looked him over wondering if maybe she knew him. His dual brown eyes look as unfamiliar as they looked honest. He was extremely tall; she was sure that she would remember someone as tall as him. “You don’t know me but, I know you. Or of you anyway,” he said as he unbuttoned his suit jacket and took a seat on Rebecca’s couch. She watched him but did not move or say anything. “My name is Dito. I’m here to deliver a massage fr

Chapter 22
Rebecca stared at Vincent trying to really take in what he had just told her. After what seemed to Vincent like hours, he watched a smile spread across her face before she burst into laughter. Vincent raised a brow wondering what was so funny. He continued to watch her laugh loudly. She bent over and held her stomach as she laughed harder. Vincent leaned into the back of the couch and waited for her to sober up. When she did, she looked at him with a big smile still on her face. “That was a good one. You want to really explain now?” Vincent shook his head. This was going to be harder than she expected. “I’m serious,” he said in a tone that he hoped would convey just how serious he was. Rebecca looked at her and squinted her eyes. She leaned back and looked at him from head to toe. She took in the suit from their date that he was still wearing. His shoes were polished to perfection. Besides his hair, he was very put together. She thought about the night they met. The way he fought th

Chapter 23
The next morning Joni woke up on Rebecca’s couch to pounding. She hadn't gotten drunk the night before so, she assumed it was someone at the door. “Becs!” she shouted not wanting to get up and answer the door. “It’s her apartment anyways. I’m no maid,” she mumbled to herself. The pounding was still happening at the door and Rebecca was not showing her face. Sighing Joni threw her legs over Rosalin who was laying on the other end of the couch and stomped to the door. Swinging it open she came face to face with Tobin. “Good morning, Joni,” she smiled at him and stepped to the side to let him walk in. As she started to shut the door, she noticed Vincent standing to the side talking with the man from the night before. She watched as they shook hands and the man walked to the elevator pushing the button. Turning back to look at Vincent she noticed him looking at her waiting for her to move so he could enter. “What’s going on?” Rebecca asked as she reached the bottom of the stairs. She lo

Vincent leaned against the hood of his car while he waited for Tobin to get out of his car and approach him. “You ready?” He asked him. Tobin nodded and motioned for Vincent to lead the way. Tobin followed Vincent through the front door of the boss's house. He thought about the fact that he would soon be calling Vincent that instead of his father. For as long as he could remember Francesco had been the boss. That was how he had grown up. His father, Leo, had worked for the family for his whole life. He hadn't grown up in the life but after he had graduated college, he met Francesco, who had just taken over, and offered him the job of a lifetime. He had just asked Tobin’s mother to marry him and needed a good job so, he accepted. All these years later, they are close and he had raised Tobin to take over for him when he retired. “Hey man, thanks for this,” Tobin decided that he should show his appreciation for allowing him to be a part of what was going on today. He didn’t have to and

“I’m coming!” Rebecca shouted as the third knock came at the door. Swinging it open, she saw Tobin standing there. Sighing she crossed her arms over her chest and popped her hip out, “What?”“Can I please come in?” He pleaded with her. Rebecca rolled her eyes in annoyance but, walked away leaving the door open. Taking that as his cue he walked through and closed the door behind him. He followed her to the couch and sat on the opposite end than her. He looked her over taking in her body language. She was pissed and while he understood that he knew that she was still open to being his friend because she had let him in. “Will you let me at least explain?” He asked her wanting to confirm that she would hear him out before he started in on what he had to say.“You have five minutes,” she unfolded his arms and started picking at her fingernails. Tobin smiled she did this when she felt vulnerable. That meant that she didn’t want to lose their friendship either.“Okay listen I know that this

Vincent held his hand out for Rebecca which she took since her anger had mostly worn off on the drive to his building. She sighed as she looked up remembering the last time she was here. “Are you coming, Rebecca?” she heard Vincent ask. Looking to the door of the building she saw him waiting for her and nodded. “Dom should be here with Ros already,” he said as he pushed the button on the elevator.Rebecca looked at him in shock, “Dom lives in the building too?” She asked him. Vincent nodded as he waited for her to join him in the elevator.“I told you my men lived here.”Rebecca nodded. She kind of remembered him saying that. Her anger had made most of what he said seem less important but, she had to admit that he had told her that. The rest of the ride up, was silent. Vincent was on his phone the whole time. When they reached his floor, he stepped off. “Follow me,” he said without looking back at her. Rolling her eyes, she did as she was told. She was too tired to argue with him anym

Chapter 27
The next night as Rebecca got ready for work, she thought about the conversation she had with Vincent the night before. She had walked into the kitchen after Tobin left to find Vincent singing as he stirred a sauce on the stove. Standing in the doorway she just watched him from behind. “Are you going to come all the way in, maybe sit down or are you enjoying the view?” He had asked her. Shocked that he knew she was there, she moved to sit on the same barstool she had occupied the day after they had spent the night together. She watched him move around the kitchen and thought about how under different circumstances, she would have found it really sexy that he was cooking for her. “What are you making?” She asked him. She didn’t want to be rude but, small talk was not her thing. At least not when talking to a man like him. “Spaghetti. I thought I would stick with a classic most American’s like since I wasn’t sure what you would like,” he looked at her over his shoulder. Rebecca nodd

Chapter 28
The next morning Rebecca woke up to her phone ringing. Sighing she grabbed it and pressed the answer button without looking at the name that flashed across the screen, “what?”“Well good morning to you too,” she heard Joni says. She could hear the irritation in her tone.“Sorry. Morning,” she sighed as she adjusted herself in bed.“That’s better. How is it going at lover boys place? Is it huge? His place not him,” Joni rattled off and giggled at her last comment. Rebecca rolled her eyes.“Ha. Ha. His place is nice and he isn't my lover boy.”“Sure, he isn't.”“I swear nothing has happened. He already got this I highly doubt he's much of a repeat offender when it comes to women,” Rebecca threw her feet over the side of the bed. She put Joni on speaker phone and stood up to stretch. “believe me he has made it very clear that after this is all over, I will never see him again. I mean he’s a criminal anyways it would never work.”Joni sighed, “he hot. And you really can't fault a guy for

Vincent walked into his parent’s house and was greeted by his mother. “Hello, Son,” she said kissing his cheek. She wiped the lipstick print that was left behind, “Your father is in his office. Tobin and Dom are already here,” she informed him before walking off.Turning to the stairs, he took them two at a time making his way to his office. As he opened the door her heard his father, Tobin, and Domenico talking. Gio had sent him a text letting him know that he had something to do with Vanessa, his fiancé, so he would be late.“Son, you’re here,” his father greeted him. Vincent nodded at the men in the room as he unbuttoned his jacket and took his usual set in front of his father’s desk. “What is the plan for the meeting tomorrow?” His father asked him.Vincent sighed. He was not looking forward to this meeting he knew that the outcome was most likely not going to be what they all hoped. Nothing ever seemed to be easy in his world. “Hopefully we can find something to appease him for n

Chapter 30
Rebecca woke up the next morning in Vincent bed with his arms strongly secured around her waist. She smiled thinking about the night before. It had been amazing and she didn’t have even a little regret. She knew they were just killing time and she was okay with that. She felt a small pang of hungry and decided to get up and make breakfast. She tried to wiggle out of Vincent’s hold but it only tightened the more she moved. “Stay,” Vincent said sleep still thick in his voice. Rebecca couldn’t help but smile she liked that the big bad mafia man was a cuddler.“I’m hungry, Vince,” she said rolling over to face him.“Me too,” he winked at her and laughed when she blushed from him innuendo. He leaned in and kissed her lips before moving to her neck and provoking her into a repeat of the events from the night before.Thirty minutes later they both finally agreed that they should get up. “You go sh
