Calhoun's POV"Alpha Dante is here to see you, Calhoun. He came with his men."I clench my jaw upon knowing what this means.I feel reluctant to leave because, from the way, Kristen just looked at me with her eyes softening, it's almost like she wants to listen to me. She's hurt but I can still see the love she has for me in her eyes."I'll be back," I tell her, before pressing a quick kiss to her head and taking my leave.Immediately I shut the door behind me, rage takes over my whole being."He's in the second hall waiting for you. Emilia is present as well. And from the onlook of things, they mean trouble." Bruce adds.I don't respond to this, instead I side-step Bruce and take the stairs that lead to the second hall.Upon reaching there, I see them all standing like a gang with Alpha Morrison, and Emilia in front. The man has a deadly look on his face, something which doesn't even make me budge. And Emilia on the other hand is wearing her usual, sluttish smirk.I clench my jaw."

Kristen's POVFive days later."It was hard to recognize him because he was wearing a hoodie like a young boy," Sapphire explains herself and she has this look on her face like being with me is no different from walking on eggshells."And so you jumped on him," I still glare at her because I am still upset with her. She blatantly told me she was drunk when she climbed on Calhoun. It was the night he went looking for me."I am so sorry, Kristen. Had I known it was Calhoun, I wouldn't have acted that way." Sapphire pouts as she puts her hand on my arm."Just forgive her," Maddy implores on behalf."Believe me when I say I have no eyes for your man," Sapphire continues, using her with her huge baby blues."That's enough," I stop her because it's working."Where exactly did you run to? Calhoun looked over everywhere for you," Maddy suddenly pops this."I just decided to take a break from him," I tell them, which isn't even a lie. But I still leave out the rest of what happened."What happ

Calhoun's POV"Kristen," I pause from the game of chess I am playing with her father, to stare at my beta who just made his presence known."She's not yet back from the outing she went with her friends," Bruce informs me.And a frown hits my face as I stare at my wristwatch. It's 9:15 PM."It's late already and she's not one to stay out till this time," now, I don't want to think Kristen was persuaded by her friends to go drinking with them. Maddy and Sapphire are wild wild girls, one was having a threesome with two men and the other was at the club, drunk as fuck and dancing in the midst of men. Stopping Kristen from being friends with them is out of the picture because she's known them like since forever. But I still need to caution her on how to be around them. She went on an outing with them the other day, only to get kidnapped and traumatized by Jack the Rogue Psycho."Let me go find her," Bruce volunteers, upon sensing my worry. "I'll do that instead, she's my daughter after a

Calhoun's POVFive months ago, I was restless while going in search of Kristen because she was kidnapped by Jack, who was obsessed with her. When I finally rescued her from him, a lot happened. She was paralyzed for twelve days and was suffering from memory loss. Now, I am in the position I found myself in five months ago. Trying to find my mate because she was taken away by Natalie, her own mother who I am sure is up to no good.I shift upon reaching Natalie's home, and Bruce who is beside me, does the same. The door is locked when I hold the handle, and I quickly move backward before jamming my body against the door to push it open. I do this for about five times before it works."There's no one in," Bruce informs me as he returns. He's been checking the whole apartment. While I stay silent as I look through Natalie's stuff for any evidence that I can find.Until I spot some badly carved wood on the floor."Christ!" Bruce exclaims when I lower my height to the floor to pick it up.

Kristen's POV Everyone is gone, save for Calhoun who's keeping watchful eyes on me because he cannot leave me out here alone. I am still at my father's grave, with my heart thudding in my chest as I fix my gaze on his headstone which has his age and name.Who would have ever thought that he'd die?He didn't even know about me until last month and when he showed up, he tried to bond with me as much as he could, to fix all the years that I was robbed of a father's presence and love.I still can't believe Mom would kill him. It shows that she's been an awful person all along. How can I ever forgive myself when I know he's dead because of me? If only he hadn't shown up at that hour, he would still be alive by now. But on the contrary, I would have been dead instead.I can't help feeling like I killed him.Mom pretended the whole time, in fact, she still despised me and saw me as her contender. That was why she showed up, lied about moving on, and offered to take me out when she already
