Kristen's POV"Are you sure about this?" Janette blinks in confusion."Yes, I need to go meet her," I tuck some strands of short hair behind my ear as I stare at my reflection in the dressing mirror."But you put to bed, you ought to be resting," my female bodyguard persists as she comes to stand at my back. And I revert my head to face her."I will rest after I do what I have in mind," I make this known to her."Alpha Calhoun will not approve of this," she points out in "He doesn't need to know," Upon waving this off, I do the last of my shirt buttons."Fine," Janette agrees at last, but the look on her face says otherwise. I don't blame her though, she's trying to protect me after all. After taking one last look at Aiden who's asleep, I nod at the maids to keep a watchful eye over him. Because I can't leave him out here alone. People have always wanted to hurt me, who knows if someone will jump through the window to harm my baby? The need to protect him is overwhelming. I will do

Kristen's POVI am having a hard time falling asleep, I've never been this restless before. It's past midnight and I still have my eyes wide open and clear of sleep because Mom's words are still haunting my mind. How she looked me right in the eye and confidently told me I would suffer. I gave birth to Aiden fifteen hours ago and the joy I had when I held him in my arms became short-lived when I paid Mom a visit in her dungeon.Even though I despise her, it doesn't change the fact that her words still affect me deeply.I can't tell Calhoun about it because he'd find out I visited my mom and he'd be upset over it because he doesn't want me near her.Speaking of Calhoun, I haven't seen him since he left. It's been over eleven hours.I wonder what's keeping him away, or if he's working overnight and was too busy to pick up his phone and call me. But he's never slept out since the five months we've stayed together.Loud hoarse cries from Aiden pull my attention to him. He's awake, and I

Kristen's POV"Time to put up with the attitude," Calhoun tells me immediately after we get home."What attitude?" I am halfway taking Aiden away from the servant. To be honest, I wasn't completely at ease when I left him here alone with the maids. I kept thinking about him, worrying if something would go wrong. And Calhoun waits for all the servants to evacuate from the room before he speaks."Being all strong and valorous, and talking about performing the Luna's rite."Holding Aiden with care, I raise my head to stare at his father."It's my duty, Calhoun. You don't expect me to shy away from it," I am blunt."I know you Kristen and this isn't you," Calhoun has an unsure look on his face, and it's rather upsetting that he's still bringing this up. I thought it all ended at the council hall. "What do you mean by that, Calhoun?" I inquire, ensuring my voice is low because Aiden is awake and cooing, and I don't want to upset him.And it seems like Calhoun is having a hard time telling

Kristen's POVA few hours earlier.I know what today isThe Game of Alphas. It's a yearly contest for all Alphas to see who's fit enough to be prominent. And I know Calhoun will be there because he's the head Alpha in the East. I love him more than life itself, but I've been keeping out of his way since yesterday. He hasn't apologized for calling me weak and insensitive, but his eyes give out that he's sorry when I see him. Still, I am yet to forgive him. It still hurts deeply that his perception of me hasn't changed. He still sees me as a weakling who he's to protect at all cost, because I was dependent on him. Calhoun thinks I cannot carry out the Luna's rite. He's afraid I'll fail and I'll eventually get kicked out of his pack, where he'll have no access to me or Aiden.Speaking of Aiden, I am yet to start breastfeeding him because no milk is spurting from my nipples, so he's living on just milk and water. The situation is bothersome, but the more pressing issue at hand is the Lu

Kristen's POVIt's one thing to have a woman sitting on to my mate and it's another to watch him stay relaxed. Will he get a boner? Grab her boobs or smooch her? She's fucking grinding on him right now, and I don't why I feel like shifting and tearing her into shreds. No wonder Calhoun wanted Bruce to take me away, so I wouldn't witness any of this.My whole body is vibrating from rage and pure jealousy. This is cheating at the highest peak. It's a stupid game after all. How could they bring in half-naked females to seduce and entice these men!? And everyone is out to see. It's like a stupid college party with horny and hormonal teenagers. What the fuck?!"Aiden might need you right now," Bruce nears my side again."You think this would send me running off? Then you must be joking." I growl at him, hating the fact that he seems to relax when Calhoun has a woman on top of him."What if he wants to be nursed?" Bruce let his eyes bulge in their sockets."I'm not milking, damnit!" I
