Calhoun's POVI have never seen anyone so scared for my sake. Had I known Kristen had the intent of coming here today, I would have tied her and locked her up if possible. The fear in her eyes is enough to make me weak but on the contrary, it strengthens me to do more.I passed the stage of swimming with sharks and managed to pass two more stages. Some Alphas who weren't brave enough to continue deliberately failed so they would get disqualified, upon figuring the game was getting horrible. Being the Alpha of Alphas required a lot. Climbing through nets that have hard sharp hooks underneath. Falling off led to death, because the hooks were soaked with black bane poison. The fifth round was more of a puzzle, jumping and sliding to avoid barbells.A few Alphas got their bones broken, and lost their front teeth. So far, five Alphas have died. It's a great loss to their packs and families but these Alphas already knew what they were getting into from the beginning. Ben Gregory, the ann

Kristen's POVToday is my first time alone with Nana Joyce, she requested I have lunch with her earlier, and I couldn't say no to her. She's Calhoun's grandmother, after all, I ought to learn from her. The old me would have been unsettled when she made the offer but this new me is more than glad to sit and dine on the same table with her. We've never had enough time to sit down and discuss, we only saw each other during events and parties and exchanged pleasantries. Although I knew she was very uptight and strict. After feeding Aiden the last of his milk, I put him in a baby carrier and advance towards the large dining hall.Nana Joyce is already seated at the table when I show up. And it seems like she made the servants outdo themselves because the table has a little feast set up for lunch."When was the last time you heard from your mother?" Calhoun's grandmother barely waits for me to sit before bringing this up."On the day I gave birth to Aiden," a slight frown threatened to take

Kristen's POVI've never seen Calhoun look so paranoid before, he's trying to convey his emotions with a frigid face but I can read right through him. He's my mate, I can feel his emotions at times. His palms are warm when he cups my cheek in them, and with the way his hard unforgiving mouth is quivering. And I can't resist the urge anymore.I stand on my toes and kiss him soundly in the mouth. With the way his large body tenses against mine, it shows that the kiss took him by surprise.Calhoun kisses me back but only for a few seconds, before withdrawing his lips from mine.I should be disappointed but I am not."Kristen…" his voice is a bit too rough when he calls my name. And I don't want to think about how angry he is for my sake. Earlier, I saw him smashing things up and screaming, he refused to even listen to Nana Joyce. But he stopped throwing a fit when he heard me call his name."Listen to me, Calhoun.." I close the distance between us and put my hands on his.But his eyes a

Kristen's POVOnce again, the maids from before near my side, and they take hold of my arms and lead me towards where Elder Festus is standing, holding the tray of what I am about to eat. The bull's heart and testicles. Signifying that the main dreadful Luna's rite is about to begin. The bull's heart and testicles wouldn't have been so gross if they were cooked. But they're fresh, still bloody. And I ground my teeth to keep from gagging. It takes enough courage within me to stand in front of such a nauseating sight. "You know as it goes," Elder Festus says."Yes," I reply, after wiping the blood from my face."Are you ready, or do you need a few minutes to prepare?" Elder Festus inquires. And I hesitate before replying, "I am ready, sir."He gives me a firm nod and then holds out the tray."Take and eat from it, Kristen. You're to finish everything on this tray."Quietly, I nod.My hands are shivering as I stretch them out to take the bull's testicle. And not a single sound is made

The only woman I have ever loved with every ounce in me. Kristen. To think I nearly lost her last night. Had she failed the Luna's trial, we would've been apart. But she proved to be the strongest and bravest woman I have ever known. By carrying out the Luna's rite and not failing. I am more than glad that she passed, I couldn't even control my excitement last night, because the whole Luna trial thing felt like I was stepping into a quicksand. It's a small wedding inside the moon goddess's temple, with just me and Elder Adolphus. and I am still waiting for my mate to show up.No guests were invited, and no one even knows the wedding is taking place today because we didn't announce the marriage date to anyone. Although they're all aware of the marriage in front. But because I don't want
