Chapter 10
"Please, give me a chance; I'm a really nice guy." I looked at him like he was crazy. Wasn’t he the one who just arrogantly made a pass at me? And now he’s a nice guy? I laughed to myself. "I'm married." I told him as coldly as I possibly could. "You're widowed." Okay, so now he is a stalker. My heart stopped, dead, as I tried to fight the tears that were coming against my will. "You don't know that!" I yelled tearfully getting up. Everyone in the coffee shop turned and stared. "Sorry" I said blushing and sat back down. "Yes, I do. This town isn't very secretive and I asked around about you. You're widowed with a son, you're depressed and have been on the antisocial side since your husband's death. Your friends are worried about you and want you to find happiness. I would like to try and make you happy if you're interested." I just glared at him. I couldn’t believe I was hearing this. The man was seriously messed up. I took a deep breath before I replied. "To be honest, David, I'

Chapter 11
I woke up in darkness. Worried, I began to search for Liam. I raced down the stairs in a flash to find a note on the table that read: Over Tommy's for the night, dad said it's ok. Love, Li. I put the note down and looked around. The house was dark, and I was alone. I felt the presence of someone else in the house so I began to investigate. I walked slowly towards the bathroom hearing that the shower was running. "Honey?" Julian called from the shower. "Are you awake?" I was shocked to hear his voice. "Yes dear!" I called. "Are you almost done?" My heart started pounding; I was so excited to see if it was really Julian in the shower. I’ve been deceived by his presence before. So, I really hoped it was him this time and not some monster. I could hear the shower turn off. Julian came around the corner in just his towel. His hair still soaked, water dripping down is chest. I stood there in awe, watching him come closer to me. "We're alone tonight." he said with a mischievous smile. I

I didn’t know what to say. I wanted him there as much as I didn’t and giving in to these kinds of emotions would turn out bad in the given situation. I can’t let my guard down for anything. However, I reluctantly went against my mind’s wishes. "Alright, we can be friendly." I said coldly, as I watched his facial expression change from curious to relieved. Then a questionable look came across his face. "Why are you so dismissive of me?" he asked me acting like there were no reason to be suspicious of him. To be honest there were quite a few reasons to be suspicious of him, including the fact that he’s always around! I pulled myself together and searched for a simple answer before replying. "You are a vampire." I finally answered him, still standing on the road across from my porch. He began to move closer to where I was and I flashed him a look to stop him from coming any closer. He looked at me like I was forbidding him from entering his own house. "I assure you I'm not a bad one.

Chapter 13
The next morning I did my normal routine and found myself at the coffee shop again, but something was different. There's been an attack and a woman and her three children were slain and devoured in their own home. Her husband is being held for questioning and police are searching for other suspects. I was so caught up in my own problems last night I forgot to look for them. The pressure was on, people were being killed. I finished what I was doing and began to race home. While on the trail I ran into David again. "Read the paper?" he asked. "Yes." I replied. He looked really worried, like something big was about to happen. In an instant I felt sympathetic for him, although I wasn’t sure why. "We got to get moving." The look in his eyes was determined as he turned his direction up the trail in the direction I was heading. "Very true." I replied. "We should meet at the library and set up a game plan.” I motioned the way to the library with my face and he shook his head. "Why not you

Chapter 14
We found ourselves at the base of a recently burned down house. Among the charred remains were severely burned, half eaten bodies. I knew in an instant we were at the right place. We moved hastily and silently through the rubble as we made our way to a clearing in the middle of the wreckage. Before us was a set of stone steps leading down into the basement of the once standing house. We pulled out our flashlights and proceeded down into the darkness. By now the fear had me shaking and wondering what would become of Liam if I didn't make it through the night. Would he live a normal life? Would he inherit my gifts and be strong? Or worse, would he be hunted for his gifts. Although it was too painful to think about, I found myself unable to keep my mind off it. I followed David through a moldy, rotted doorway into a damp cave-like room. We descended down into the darkness further from the world above, stepping over corpses along the way. I could see why most of their killings weren't re

Chapter 15
It's easier to kill younger changelings because they are so weak and inexperienced, simply catching them off guard and blasting them with flame balls or waiting for them to change into something as stupid as an insect so they can be crushed is all one needs to do. It's on. I thought to myself as we began up the stairs into the rubble above. Later that night I heard the irrevocable shriek of Dimietry as I lie in bed. A smile of accomplishment crept upon my face as I slowly slipped into a deep slumber. But, before I could fall asleep, a knock at the door startled me. I got up and put on a blue t-shirt and a pair of jeans; came downstairs and opened the door to find David. His face was soft and fearful as he kept his gaze on the ground. He slowly lifted his head and his eyes met mine, my heart raced. "Sophie?" he asked, voice shaking. "Can we talk?" he seemed to take on the qualities of a little boy asking his first crush to the dance. I sympathized as I stepped outside the door and loo

Chapter 16
We pulled our faces away from one another's, my eyes still closed. I was afraid of what I might see if I opened my eyes. Another gory vision of Julian was not on my agenda for tonight. I took a deep breath and tried to open my eyes, but failed. The moment was so perfect I didn’t want to ruin it with a morbid wake up from this dream. "Is something wrong?" David asked sounding confused. "I'm sorry if it was out of line, I didn't mean to offend..." I cut him off. "It's not that..." I told him before taking another deep breath. I cleared my head as I slowly lifted my eye lids to find David sitting in front of me. A sigh of relief came faster than I could catch it. I felt a little ashamed to be relieved that I didn't see Julian in place of David especially because of the fact that he didn’t know the cause of my relief. I could see the confusion in his eyes; I had to come up with something to excuse my behavior. I took another deep breath and blew the air through my mouth before starting m

Chapter 17
He brushed his hand down my side very slowly moving it underneath my thigh and pulling my leg up. Slowly moving his hand back down my thigh, he rested it on the floor next to my side. I moved my hand down from his neck onto his chest, slowly making my way down to his waist. I grabbed on to his shirt and slipped it up to his shoulder blades then pressed my nails on his skin as I pulled my hands down his back and up to his shoulder blades again. We stopped kissing for a moment and he looked me in the eyes before rubbing my nose with his. He reached his arm back and grazed my hand with his before grabbing the bottom of his shirt and pulling it off and returning to his previous position. His skin glistened in the moonlight as his body moved with mine. My back arched as he slid his hand under my shirt, slowly moving it from the small of my back creeping to the top of my stomach and inching up over my chest, finally resting on my neck. I picked up my leg and gently rubbed his side with my

The days flew by and there were no leads as to where David could be. Everything was mostly a daze, I tried to hold conversations with Liam the best I could, but had no luck. He knew something was up, but stayed out of it the best he could; he seemed to be able to read my mind with the whole situation. Knowing to keep his distance on the matter but on the same note, he showed that he was concerned. It was like he knew that I wanted him to stay out of it and try to continue on as normal. On the bright side of things he was showing compassion his special ways, by making his own breakfast and cleaning up without being told. He even hugged me once or twice just to offer me some form of comfort. It worked for the little while it lasted and it was good to know that Liam cared so much. The passing days didn't wave my determination, and the nights were torture. Staying up all night long, I couldn’t control the crying; I tried to stay away from where Liam was so that I didn’t wake him. Although

Chapter 19
I started driving home when I came up with a plan to try and sneak into Dimietry’s lair and sneak David out without getting noticed. I would put on a cloaking spell and sneak through the entrance, hiding behind every rock and wall I could find. Then I would wait for the coast to be clear and take David out of his restraints before putting a cloaking spell on him. By the time they would notice his disappearance; we’d be long gone and off to safety. The more I thought about this plan, the more ridiculous it seemed. I didn’t even think there was such a thing as a cloaking spell, let alone sneaking in there without the changelings noticing my scent. I drove home as fast as I could, thinking that I would know what to do when I got there. There wasn’t much time to prepare anything and every idea I had seemed to be flawed. Then there was a problem being that, as I pulled up the drive way, I still had nothing. When I got home I decided to go down to the coffee shop and read one more paper be
