— GinaI have never told anyone that I suffer from sickle cell anemia. The hospital has become my routine, and receiving blood is what I do. Sometimes, my feet itch, and I feel pain all over my body as if I could die anytime soon. The only person who knows about my health condition is my twin sister, Givia. Whenever I am admitted to the hospital, she takes care of me and ensures that I never lose hope."Gina, are you getting better now?" my twin sister asked."I'm getting better, sister. Just some pain in my feet."My twin sister looks exactly like me. We have the same resemblance and beauty. Not to mention our height and skin color. My sister is slightly taller than me, and her eyes are a bit bigger, but they are beautiful. Unless you look closely or know us well enough, you wouldn't be able to differentiate between us. There was a time when my twin sister fought with Mariya, one of our high school mates, and I ended up receiving a beating from Mariya. She mistook me for Givia and te

—MichaelThe next morning, as I arrived at the office, my mind was consumed by thoughts of the kiss I shared with Gina. It was an entirely new experience for me, as my life had revolved around studying and books. I had never ventured into matters of the heart before. At the age of 22, my father had enrolled me at Harvard University to study Engineering, despite my initial reluctance. Over the years, I had pursued my education abroad, obtaining a Bachelor's degree from Harvard and a Master's degree from Eastern Mediterranean University in Turkey. Though my academic life took me to foreign lands, I made sure to return home during holidays and every two months."Good day, sir!" a voice greeted me as I entered Melanie Company. Lost in my thoughts about the kiss, I hadn't even registered the greeting. Gina's face seemed to be everywhere in the building, and I couldn't shake the desire I felt for her. However, I couldn't help but question how I had developed these feelings for her. Maybe it

—GinaGivia was never a sickle cell patient. She was healthy and fine. My father had the AS genotype, while my mother had SS. Consequently, I inherited the SS genotype, and my sister took after my father with an AS genotype. Sickle cell anemia plagued me and necessitated frequent hospital visits, just like my mother's regular visits before she passed away."Sister, did you take your medication today?" Givia asked, concerned. I checked and realized I hadn't taken my drugs for the day. I sighed, expressing my frustration and weariness with the constant need for medication. Living my entire life relying on injections and drugs seemed daunting. It wasn't something I enjoyed. I adjusted my pillow and laid down on the bed."For the sake of your health, please take your medication. You're the only sister I have, the most precious thing in my life," my sister pleaded. I smiled, got up from the bed, took my drugs, and returned to sleep. As I drifted off, I started dreaming about Michael. In my

— Michael Melanie"Michael, what's the meaning of what you did at the hospital? Have you gone mad? How could you leave your mother for four hours in the hospital without notifying her or anyone of your whereabouts?" My mother yelled at me when I arrived home. When I returned back to Madonna Hospital to check on my mother after what transpired between Gina and me, I couldn't find her there in the hospital anymore. It was difficult for me to wrap my head around it because her phone number wasn't going through when I tried calling. We never discussed her returning to her house from the hospital. I remained silent for some minutes at the hospital, thinking about where she could have been, and I decided to enter the hospital to ask about her."Excuse me, nurse. Please, do you have any information on Mrs. Melanie, who was at your hospital some hours ago?" I asked the nurse while still wondering in my thoughts about my mother's whereabouts. The nurse looked at me pitifully, and there was some

— Michael Melanie"Excuse me. Why are you hugging me in public? What's the meaning of this?" With a surprised face and perplexed intonation, Givia said to me as she removed her body from mine.I looked at her again, but what I saw was Gina, and why is she acting like she hasn't seen me before? I asked myself that question and still went closer to her so I could ask her what made her give me such a reply the last time I visited her at home, as my mother instructed. But she shifted backward and adjusted her dress properly. She was actually surprised that someone from no where would even have the effrontery to hug her in the mall where she came to get something. She was still in surprise, and a lot of things rang in her head. "Isn't this guy trying to play a prank with me, or isn't he just trying to seduce me here like all these useless and meaningless Lagos guys do?" She asked herself those questions and decided to gather courage to ask what I'm up to.Though I sensed something differen
