A Much Needed Break
Bastion led the way back out of the room down the prisoner quarters, through the dungeon and up the dank stairs. They came out from behind the portrait of his father and back into the hallway at the top of the stairs. They went to the other side of them and up to the attic. These stairs were dusty but well lit with torches along the sides. At the top of the stairs there was a hall with a great large window. Through the blowing sheers, you could see the shadow of iron bars. This too appeared to be a prison. Bastion went to the third door and unlocked it with a massive skeleton key. It creaked open slowly as he gently pushed it. “Ingrid? I have someone you may want to see.” A woman adorning a dressing gown slowly turned her head with wide eyes as she smelled them coming from the stairwell. “Is it really you?” Alexandre ran to her and knelt at her lap. Tears flowed from her eyes as she never thought she’d see her friend again. “I have often wondered what happened to you. I tried to

A Little Surprise
The three of them stood in front of the whole procession of people. Three thrones now sat on the riser. The two largest chairs were the Elder Lord’s and his Queen’s. The last large chair sat to the right of the Queen’s throne and that one was Raven’s. The room was filed to the brim with the Bitten, their people, different sorts of creatures and guests of highborns in the Clan. Every guest made their introductions and offerings to the Queen and their Princess. Flowers, casks of wines, trunks filled with fine dresses, small chests filled with gold and gemstones and much more laid at their feet. After each attendee made their introduction, they took their leave. The hall seemed so much larger now that it was emptied. “You were well received. I’ll have your gifts taken to your rooms. There’s a suite that has adjoining rooms I had them prepare for you Ladies and the great room has a terrific view in there. I trust you will need some rest after your great journey and big day.” Bastion be

Left Behind
Bradford looked all around for traces of where they may have gone. “The Elder Lord is going to kill me. If I go back to their cabin I’ll be under cover for now. I have to figure out what to do next.” He left the hide away and went back to the cabin. Stepping inside the cabin, he looked around at the left out herbs. “I can do this. I can make this myself. I watched her. I can make this myself and return! How lucky I am to have learned it from its creator.” Herbs and bubbling cauldrons sat littering the counter and the table. He couldn’t remember the exact measurements so he made them in all combinations. He reached for more herbs and found them depleted. “Well, shit. I’m not sure where the garden is but maybe the Stag will help.” Bradford walked outside and spoke to the Stag through their telepathic connection. “I need your help. I need the special garden to make this potion. I cannot return without it.” The tree line shuffled as the Great Stag came out of it. “I see they left in

Night Beings Danger
Bradford was always a little late to rise until the sun dipped behind the horizon. Seeing the sunlight made him sad. He wondered what a warm summer day would feel like, jumping naked into the lake for a cooling swim. Maybe one day, he would be able to make that happen. Walking back over to the herbs he realized the cauldron had cooled. “Damn it. This is gonna take an hour to get going again.” He looked around and played back the steps Alexandre took to prepare the first round. “I need these herbs, this cauldron, these oils and blood. Oh no, did I need her blood or would any blood do? Well it’s too late to get hers. I hope mine works.” Bradford spoke the secret spell careful to annunciate the spell exactly how Alexandre had. The gentle green smoke begin to rise, looking at the spell objectively if he does the same things, in the same order, with the same ingredients, the spell should work, right? Bradford watched as bubbles started forming in the liquid, and the herbs started roll

The Great Library
Raven stepped into the library, looking at the mounds and mounds and stacks and shelves of books all around her. She could not remember one time ever seeing a library as boundless as this one. She walked alongside the stacks and started reading the types of books that were included in this library. She found there were books of all the creatures in the land. There were books about caster magic, human magic, the magic animals, the bitten, the history of the bitten and many many many other books. She took an interest in a thick, black, leather book, pulling it off of the shelf she noticed the dust being disturbed as the large book slid off of its place and her hands. Dust in the air as she walked away. She found a big leather comfortable chair next to an oil lamp that was already lit. Sitting down in this chair, dust roast from it as well, creating a small dust cloud around her. She coughed a bit while waving the dust away from her. Opening the book the first page page was a power sigi

Prince Bradford of the Holy Clan
Bastian took a deep breath and sat down in the couch across from her. He looked at her eyes as the fire bounced off the sides of them, and only made her green eyes more intense. Bastion clasped his hands and leaned over his knees. “You understand how much pressure we were under?” “ I recall.” Alexandre’s gaze was steady and calculated. She was watching his every move and micro expression. “When Bradford was born, there was a great uproar as he was born with a veil. as you know, only great casters are born with veils. Your ladies and waiting had one job and that was to keep you calm while I had the time to make sure that this child would be viable. The elders of the clan had told me that any child born that would not be powerful and viable would be an embarrassment to the clan, and therefore must be sacrificed to the healing waters. I wanted to do everything in my power to make sure that our children would never meet that end. So there was a time I hid Bradford away. My goal was to

Reunited
Bradford bound and leapt attempting to get to the castle before night fall came again. Only a path of broken branches and blurred footsteps were left behind him. His fear was met with excitement. He had known his father to be a great man but also one of discipline. He had taken great efforts not to reveal himself to his mother and his sister. Even when he gave his sister some of his blood to keep her going, he took great attempts to hide his identity while she was reading his thoughts. He had been tested by the great tribunal, many times to protect himself from this casters gift. As far as his mother, he was frustrated that she did not at once recognize him. His excitement, with seeing her was only met with his sadness of all the time that he had missed being next to her and learning from her. And seeing how Raven had grown in her magic and skills, he couldn’t help but be selfish and wonder how his mother could have helped him. Running through the woods, he came to the edge. He sto

Prince Bradford of the Holy Clan Part 2
Margaret was so excited she ran with him through the halls. The few people who saw them shook their heads. “Was he wearing the crest?” “Why was he running with that girl?” “She’s the daughter of a lowborn lord. He’s the outcast son of another lord. They’re perfect for each other.” “Shhhh! We don’t notice or speak here,” the head Matron of the Cleaning Service told them all. They continued quietly not daring to erupt her anger. Stopping at his doors, she swayed with anticipation. “Open it! Go in!” He laughed and nodded towards the door, “My room.” A big smile covered his jaw and he swung open the doors. Bridget was in there like a blur lighting the candles and fire, dusting out the corners and curtains. She opened the windows and the sheers flew into the wind. His belongings were already there and Bridget beamed, “Prince Bradford.” She bowed to him with a deep curtsy. “Your apartments, Sir” as she winked at him. Bradford blushed and tan up and hugged her. “When did you know he was

Whispering and Bidding
The royal family took to getting more familiar with one another. Margaret found her place among them and the attendees were left to their own devices and to their own devices they went. “Lords I’m just suggesting we take a vote and decide if this is a legit claim to the throne.” Mr Banderman spoke up. The other elders head nodded or shook. “Respectfully, there is a process and we will follow it.” Mr Lavenos spoke up, “The Elder Lord just introduced two possible heirs that are both powerful and hybrids. We knew there was a reason he chose the Casters daughter. This is it! He wants to strengthen the Clan and if she is the Coming Sun we will have no time of day we are not safe.” “Gentlemen you are all missing the point. Why is he introducing them now? Why first his daughter with his long lost wife and then his son. A son, may I add, we already knew existed and have fought beside, never knowing he was the heir to the throne.” A gentleman with a tall top hat on, leaned against the wall

The day had come when the Ladies would be introduced to their hand maidens. There would be five for the ladies, two young men for the young Prince and one additional special Lady to assist Raven. Pulling at their skirts and adjusting their clothes, the two men and six ladies waiting anxiously in the servants halls to be brought to their introductions. The male attendants were taken up first. “Prince Bradford, these two men will be attending to your needs. Your laundry, your mess, baths, ball preparation and anything else you need. They will be here all hours of the day and will be in Their own shared quarters just a floor down. This pulley will ring a bell in their room.” The butler bowed and waved his arm toward the men. “You look strong, but are you intelligent?” The guys looked at each other puzzled, “My Lord?” “Will I have to tell you every move to make or will you anticipate them as you learn me? I’m not a fussy man and I’m not accustomed to the life of a royal. I will expe
