Chapter 20
Atlas walked to me, closing the distance between us in rushed steps. “Atlas," I breathed, my ribs hurting. I felt relieved to see him, tears stinging my eyes. He pulled Gabriel off me, throwing him away. He immediately cuts the binds holding me, covering my body with his jacket. I shivered as I held the jacket tighter, my body quivering. I ignored the pain I felt when I brought the jacket closer, reveling in the joy of being in his embrace. I felt a sense of safety in his arms. “You'd be fine little witch, you can heal yourself," Atlas whispered to me, holding me against him. I paused when I heard what he said. Did I hear hun correctly? What does he mean I can heal myself? Does he know that I could heal myself? Does he know about my being a wolf?? My head snapped around to look at him, shock all over my face. How did he? I was about to ask what he meant when Gabriel yelled loudly. “I would make you both pay," he said. He wanted to turn around and run, but Atlas was quic

Next chapter. I opened my eyes slowly, taking in my surroundings. I was now at home on the bed and Atlas was nowhere to be found. I pushed up from the bed, expecting it to hurt but I was surprised when the pain didn't come. Huh? Moving my body around, I realized that I had been healed by my wolf. “Nafira, Why did you heal me?" I hissed at her angrily. I had specifically told her not to heal me yet. Now what would I tell Atlas after he discovers that I healed fast? What excuse do I have? To him, I was just a human. I wanted to heal naturally no matter how long it took or maybe have her heal me slowly on a daily, not to heal me all at once. “You would have died if I didn't. I didn't have a choice. Your body was hurt too badly and you had some internal bleeding, if I didn't then–” she started to explain but I cut her off. “Then they would have taken me to a hospital and I would have gotten treated. Why did you have to… “ " You would have died even before you got to the hospital,

Chapter 22
I glanced at my watch, tapping my foot impatiently. Danica had asked me to meet her at this cafe and I was there already but she was nowhere to be seen Yes, I was Mrs Grey, but at the same time I was still Atlas’ secretary and I couldn't just leave whenever I could. I had a lot of work to do and yet here I was, waiting for Danica. I told Atlas I wouldn't be gone for long and I had to plead with him to let me come here. Where was Danica? She was over fifteen minutes late. She had told me where to meet and the time to meet with her and she still managed to be late on her own time. I had been on edge ever since I received that text, wondering what Danica wanted to speak to me about. Atlas had asked me to remain home and rest but I refused to. If he could tie me up to the bed, I'm certain that he would have done that. I insisted on coming out today to meet with her, and yet she was late. I wanted to hear what she wanted to say and that's why I came here today. Her text sounded so

Next Chapter. I stood over the counter, making coffee absentmindedly. I haven't been able to focus since I had that conversation with Danica plus last night's events made it all worse for me. I hadn't spoken to Atlas since then, he left before I woke up and I haven't seen him since then. I grabbed my mug of hot coffee absentmindedly, I held the body of the mug forgetting that the coffee was still hot. I screamed when it burnt my head, my hand throbbing in pain. I instantly let go of the cup and I close my eyes, expecting the cup to break and the contents to splash on me. I was ready for the pain that was about to come. When I don't feel anything, I open my eyes to see the cup hovering in the air a few inches away from the ground. My palm was red and hot and I was afraid that it would blister. I asked my wolf to heal the burn and she happily complied. Turning to the door, I saw Batya standing at the entrance with a wide smile on her face. She looked like she was effortlessly ma

Before I could speak. Maliya was forced to butt in, her facial expression changing. “Please listen," She said to me. She looked like she was desperate and wanted to convince me of something so I let her speak. I didn't know what had happened or why she sounded the way she did. “I’m not here to fight you, but to beg," She said and I looked at her confused. Beg me? What would she need to beg me for? Is this a trap they made for me? I stared at her suspiciously while she spoke. “Something happened in the merge, and it forced me to come looking for you," Maliya said and I wondered what had happened. Danica said the same thing to me the last time we met but I said I had no reason to listen to her. And I thought it wasn't really serious but for Maliya to come looking for me… . Did something serious really happen and I didn't know? What could have happened? I completely cut off the merge, so I didn't have anyone to tell me if anything had happened. I pondered about this as I waited

Maliya had said that Alisa was fine, so I felt relieved. I had immediately gone home after she had left. For the rest of the day, I was distracted as I thought about all I discussed with Maliya.Greta had come back and Daciana was in a bad state. If I wanted Daciana to survive, I had to go back to the Merge, taking Batya with me.But I didn't want to do something that would put Batya in danger, and taking her there would be doing exactly that.Wouldn't Greta come for Batya if we returned? What am I supposed to do in a situation like this? How would I–“Are you alright?" Atlas asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.Huh?I raised my head to look at him, realizing that I had zoned out.I looked around the table, feeling embarrassed when I saw Batya and Atlas staring at me."I have been trying to get your attention for a while now, but you weren't paying attention. Are you okay?” He repeated and I nodded my head, brushing him off." Yes, I am,” I said, picking up my spoon. I hadn't told

Atlas's POV The moment I stepped into the house, I instantly felt that something was wrong. My heart started beating faster as I walked deeper into the house. The entire house was quiet and that was unusual. I couldn't hear Batya’s excited voice as she explained something to Heyley as usual, I couldn't hear Heyley replying to Batya’s excited screams. And the fact that I couldn't feel Batya’s magic around like I used to before didn't make things better. It was like they suddenly disappeared. I could tell that no one was home. Did she go out with Batya? But she didn't tell me that she would be going out today. Did something happen? Taking my phone out of my pocket, I dialed Heyley’s number, but it was switched off. That's weird. I couldn't even think of Heyley leaving me and I didn't want to think of how possible that was. Heyley had cried all through the night and she was reluctant to come to work today too. She asked to stay home today and I agreed, hoping that she would feel

_Heyley’s POV_I dropped to a squat before Batya, rubbing her am with my hands. My heart was pounding in my chest as I stared at her.I had left Atlas house without letting him know and I turned my phone off. I knew he was going to call me but this was something I needed to do.When I come back I'd tell him the entire truth., hopefully he would take me back after knowing my secrets. This was something I needed to do unfortunately.Batya had asked me where we were going without Atlas but I didn't answer her question. She didn't even get to say good bye to him and it made me feel bad. What would she think of me after I tell her the truth? What would she think when I tell her that she wasn't my daughter and I had actually taken her from her real mother.“Do you remember the story of the princess I told you about? The one that was taken for her safety? And the two sisters who wanted to be princesses but they were raised by a witch?” I asked her and she nodded. She really loved the stor

Next chapter.Alisa looked pale as she stared at Batya. She looked at me in disbelief then looked at Batya once more, unable to speak. She couldn't believe that who she was staring at was Batya but the clear resemblance was enough proof.“Is that.." she stuttered in shock, taking a step toward us. Alisa looked at me in shock, then looked at Batya who was glaring fiercely at the guards.I hold Batya’s shoulders to calm her. " Remember what we talked about,” i whispered to her and zhe nodded her head softly. She grew sheepish as she looked at the guards.“I'm sorry. But don't come close to my mama,” Batya apologized while warning them.I wanted to smile at hoa protective she was over me, but I was too nervous to do that.I was yet to see Daciana and a part of me was still afraid. I only sent her the letter ahead of time to inform she and Arnou of my return. And I told her of the only reason I was returning and why I had taken Batya.I was hoping that she wouldn't imprison me because I t

Danica walked into the room, standing beside me.“How do you two know about Greta when we have been trying to keep it lowkey?” Yeran asked, he seemed suspicious of me and I couldn't blame him.I looked at him, and my answer came immediately.“That's not important. What is important right now is trying to restore Daciana back to her full health before Greta decides to attack again. If we are unable to do that, then it's of no use, the lycan territory wouldn't be able to stand a chance without that” I told them.“Even though Batya is my daughter, she also has another mother. Is it okay if Batya does the rituals?” Daciana said, her last question was directed at me and I was surprised that she wanted to ask me.Arnou looked angry that Daciana has asked me, ge still hated me for taking his daughter away and calling me her mother didn't sit well with him.He wanted to speak but he looked at Daciana then kept his mouth shut, his love for his wife wouldn't let him say anything to oppose her.
