The venue was decorated elegantly with dark, glowing colors that complemented the flashy dresses worn by the guests. Ann Sinclair sat still where her mother had placed her, twirling a glass of wine between her fingers while her eyes stayed fixed on the man, Lucas Montgomery standing at the other end of the hall. She huffed as Lucas conversed with the women that surrounded him while he paid no attention to the woman he just married. In frustration, she drowned the wine in her cup as she took her time to study her new husband; Lucas Montgomery. He stood out perfectly amongst the guests, dressed impeccably in a black fitted three-piece suit that clung to his muscular build. His short black hair slicked back, and his black piercing eyes were bright with mischief as he interacted with the people around him. Ann wasn't angry, she just expected he would pay her some extra attention, especially on their wedding day.“Ann, what are you doing here?” The sound of her mother's voice snapped her

Ann still couldn't understand why she was angry. She kept telling herself so many times that she didn't care about Lucas or the fact that he didn't try to contact her during the past three weeks of his disappearance after the day of their wedding. She didn't give a damn about Lucas and so she should be bothered that he didn't bother to call or act like he gave a damn about her either. She looked down at her free ring finger and scoffed, this was not how she expected her new life to be going. Yes, she was having the time of her life getting her dreams accomplished. It has always been her biggest dream to be a model but her parents were always against it claiming she didn't need to work and should Instead be focused on becoming the perfect doting wife_ an involuntary shudder went down her spine even at the thought of her parents' plan for her. When her parents broke the news of their marriage plan for her, Ann thought it was the end of her dream of becoming a model. A part of her expec

Lucas could tell from the way Ann was tensed that she was just as unprepared for this family meeting as he was. Forcing a smile onto his face, he moved to his wife, reaching for her hand and pulling her close. “All good things I hope?” He joked, flashing his best smile to Ann's parents.Mrs. Sinclair's gaze softened. “You have nothing to be worried about, son.”Ann made an act of clearing her throat. He tightened his hold on her hand in warning. Now that he was seeing her up close, he could see the resemblance between her and his mystery lady from yesterday night. He couldn't believe he made such a stupid mistake.“Ann just arrived but the food is set, you just have to say the word,” Mrs. Sinclair announced.Lucas smiled, she was the easier parent to handle, unlike Mr. Sinclair who was so hard to deal with. “Great, Mrs. Sinclair. I can't wait.”Lucas quickly reached for his pocket and pulled out the diamond bracelet that was inside. He had picked it up from the hotel room his mystery

Ann’s jaw clenched, “if you don't follow me, I'll create a scene.”That was the least Lucas concerns, he had already caused quite a stir with the way he rushed across the lane to sort out the woman and he wouldn't want his dramatic wife adding to his stress. With a deep sigh he eyed his wife from the corner of his eyes then took a step towards the lady to say softly, “Could you come with me, please?”Ann brows furrowed, “Are you crazy?”The lady looked from Lucas to Ann with a confused glance then responded, “I don't even know you.”Lucas muttered, “But I do know you, you are_,”“Look, I would love to stay and watch your beautiful reunion except right now I don't have all day.” Ann growled out, eyeing the lady with a scrunched nose.Lucas doesn't even spare Ann a glance, his attention fixed on the woman before him looking at him like he had just grown three heads.Ann jaw clenched, her fingers fisted. It was very obvious Lucas wasn't going to pay her any attention, and with one last

Ann's eyes stirred open, a soft groan escaping from her lips as she stretched her body to her satisfaction. She took In her surroundings and frowned when she realised she wasn't at her husband's house. She jerked upright immediately looking around for any clues but her panic immediately settled when she recognized her old room. Her original room back at her father's house. Right, she came here herself. It came rushing back to her the moment she decided she needed a break from under the roof of her cheating husband's house. She couldn't stand how suffocating it was and it didn't help one bit that Lucas was also in the same house with her. A sigh left her parted lips as she pictured Lucas's drunken form on the couch and a soft chuckle was all she could afford to do. Juliet was right, maybe she should have let his ass freeze over maybe she would have felt better. The sound of her phone ringing snapped her out of her thoughts and rushing to pick it up. It showed that the ID had identif
