Nik. I felt like holding her hands and dragging her back home in our bedroom and curling up in bed, and listening to her talk my head off, while stealing kisses in between instead my hands behind her to guide her towards the table where we were led to. The moment we got there the older Spanish male and his wife beamed and I plastered my fake smile. “Mr Stavros” he greeted me and I took his hand in a warm shake. Our wives exchanged kisses and I looked proudly when the older woman gushed over my wife’s beauty. Elaine smiled shyly and I looked on in admiration. “Your wife is so beautiful,” Simone gushed and I nodded with pride. On its own accord my hands went to help move a loose tendril from her face to tuck behind her ears, and our eyes caught together in a I watched her behind as she walked away and I let out a groan of exasperation. “Fuck.” It’s almost like every single time I open my mouth to talk to her, I just make it worse than it already is. Just gasoline to

Where the hell did you put your phone?” He yelled in my face and I clammed up straight away. “What?” Confused at how he had the audacity to be mad at me, when he is the one who had gone on another silence war. “You called me. Four times, you haven't called me once in two weeks and all of a sudden you're calling me four times. Do you know how worried I was?” He yelled and grabbed the edge of my shoulder so that I could see the variety of emotions being displayed. “You sent me a text..” I stammered. The text had made me so mad, and I wanted to give him a piece of my mind then. “Okay, and? So why did you switch off your phone? Do you have any idea how worried I was? I thought something had happened to you again.” He yelled and the fight drowned out of me. The fear in his gaze made my heart squeeze in hurt on his behalf. It was clear that he was thinking of the time I got kidnapped, but earlier in the day I wasn't thinking about him or wanting to be reached when I switched off my ph

Nik had kissed her before many times. He had kissed her gently, he had kissed her coaxingly, he had even kissed her teasingly—especially during those earlier times when we were on our baby moon, before the twins came. Later had come the impassioned kisses, the ones he’d struggled to keep in check because their desires had ignited so easily then. Today he was kissing me with so much anger and angst. “Nik..” I called out in fear, my entire body was shaking. The depths of the emotions I was feeling felt like it could topple me and swallow me whole “Don't…” my voice fell on deaf ears, and he looked as if he was quite set on not listening to me. “ Don't what?” He bit out tersely. “I hate you.” I rasped out, my breath now falling in short heavy pants, responding in full to the man whose weight had me pinned to the bed. “Yes, but you want me. You want me so bad that you can't even deny it.” His response was so true that the flimsy tee shirt I had pulled on when I crawled

Words are like barbs. Sometimes you don't know when they sink in and stick. The moment the ladies left the room I got out from where I was hiding and finally let out a sigh I didn't know I was holding. The secrecy from earlier between Nik and Serena and the way they were discussing them gave me an inkling that something was up. The thin lady must be an ex, or someone who was once interested in Nik, in whatever capacity I don't know. I managed to rub my wet hand over my straight hair to make sure that there was no fly always and finally stumbled out of the toilet. Just outside Serena had come to the lounge also, probably looking for me and we almost bumped into each other on my way out. “Babe,” she called out in her soft voice and I managed to croak out a smile. “You look like you have seen a ghost, are you sure you're fine?” She followed her initial question. “Hmn hmm” I nodded rapidly, and made to leave when I noticed that the men had moved to the lounge too. Serena grunted

Somehow standing here in his embrace was a statement he was trying to make and it made me feel uncomfortable because what exactly was he trying to prove.I didn't need to wonder any more when the group of ladies troupes to our booth all four of them. The smell of the cigar and their strong perfume all mixed together and it just made me feel more nauseous. “Serena,” the tall lady who was smiling at me in the mirror earlier greeted. “Eva.” She answered in return. The men were ignoring their presence because nobody acknowledged their presence for a while. “Nikolas,” she called out, in a softer, sultry tone that made the hair on the back of my hand stand out. Very few people used his full government name. Fewer people called him in that tone which he allowed. It suddenly made sense, I had seen her before. Several times, and at every meeting, the hostility slash weirdness between them was a thing. The way they switched to Greek and the Spanish in between it only served to ice me o
