persuading her to divorce

Nathan’ P.O.V.“The kid, Cole Williams. He is a genius, Mr. Lombart. He got full marks in his first exam. Out of curiosity, I took another exam of one level up, and he aced that exam too. It’s our good luck that we got a genius kid as our student.” The principal of the primary school where I arranged Cynthia’s nephew’s admission, Drake Bell, sang Cole’s praises while laughing wholeheartedly.I wasn’t surprised because I knew the academic performance of both his parents and also his aunt. Even his grandparents from both sides were scholars.“I am glad that you took him mid-semester, Mr. Bell.” I replied to him with a faint smile.“I sent you his exam sheets, Mr. Lombart. See for yourself.” He informed me with the same laughter.Getting a genius student is the basic desire of every school, as it brings both honor and more intelligent students to their schools. The competition among private and prestigious schools is not hidden from anyone. So, I knew why he was so happy.“I will ask my

he is creating trouble

Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)“Do you really think that he can win her heart now when he couldn’t back then when he had all the time in the world?” I asked her sarcastically.“That was then, Nathan. His own stubbornness didn’t let him confess his love to Cynthia, but I had seen him looking at Cynthia. He has always been madly in love with her, and if Ms. Williams can stir your emotions, I am sure that he will surely show some interest in Ms. Williams too.” She wasn’t wrong and the worry in her voice was because of me.Just like a caring mother, she also wants to see me happy, and Ms. Williams gave her a hope that was shattered after Cynthia’s disappearance.“That boy is different from both his parents, Nathan. I don’t know from whom he took his arrogance and self-esteem, but he has changed a lot in the past seven years. I am afraid that he will either try to snatch her away from you, as he hates you from the bottom of his heart or he will do something to make Ms. Williams hate you.” I l

he had a thing for her

Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)“That’s right, but he is not targeting you or your business ventures, Natha. Heaven’s Blessings also has a branch in the southern California, remember? And last year, you started an AI venture with New Horizon Technology. You won that bid, and for your information, Hawthorne Technology was one of other bidders for that project,” he reminded me, still pressing the fact that Jonathan Hawthorne is behind them, not me.I nodded while taking a deep breath. He is right.Hawthorne Empire also had business venture in both AI technology and Jewellery design. We crossed paths a few times during bidding for a few projects, but I didn’t remember facing any hurdle from the Hawthornes.“Jonathan Hawthorne is coming here next weekend to attend the bid for southern highway project. Try to get an appointment and hold a meeting with him. Whatever misunderstandings or grudges he has against you or anyone from your family can be solved if you two sit together and talk calmly.”

her shocked reaction

Nathan’s P.O.V. “Hey, Fiona.” I greeted Fiona while descending the stairs when I saw Theo and Fiona entering the living room with a maid.“Wow! The prince of the city honored us with a dinner, huh?” Fiona taunted me in reply, looking at me with disdain.“Hey, don’t provoke the prince, okay? Or else, we will be in a grave problem.” Theo also teased, bumping his shoulder onto hers.I chuckled but didn’t react because this was their way to tell me that I ignored them for a while.“Theo, Fiona!” Mom exclaimed excitedly while exiting the kitchen with a maid.“Aunt Emma!” Fiona exclaimed while rushing towards Mom, while Theo plopped himself to the couch.“How are you, darling?” Mom asked her happily while embracing her.I also walked to the couch and sat down on the single couch while looking at Mom and Fiona’s interaction.

she is interested in you

Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)My demeanor went cold immediately. “Do you really think that I will disrespect a woman and her dignity by treating her as my wife’s stand-in, Fiona?” I asked her coldly, putting my fork and knife on my plate.“Th… that’s not what I meant, Nathan, but her name is also Cynthia. Yo… you will never be able to forgive our Cynthia while calling her or ….. or you will forget her completely because of this new Cynthia. Yo… you shouldn’t hire her.” She replied to me in panic, anger evident in her voice, but she pressed on every word of her last statement.“Fiona.” Mom called her in a firm and soft voice before I could say something else to Fiona. We all looked at my mother.“Your assumptions are right, honey, but we all know Nathan very well. When I brought Cynthia to this home, everyone said that she had a slight resemblance to Nancy, but Nathan never saw Nancy in her. And there are plenty of girls and women with the same name. So, you don’t need to worry that Nath

Cynthia’s P.O.V.I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down while looking at the enormous building of Lombart & Lombart.I was here two weeks ago for business and now I am here today to join the company as the CEO’s executive assistant.I couldn’t deny that I wasn’t this nervous when I joined Mr. Silva.I didn’t want to think about the reason because I knew that it was Nathan Lombart who had caused my nervousness.“Six months, Cynthia. Within six months, you will be able to know if you want to stay here or go back. You promised him six months, and that’s it. Strictly professional, nothing personal.” I muttered to myself, but it didn’t help me this time.“Ms. Williams!” I flinched and looked at the person exclaiming my name with a startled expression.“What are you doing here? You should be at your desk by now.” She continued coming towards me with a surprised and concerned look.“Hi, Daisy. I…. I was on a personal call. That’s why I didn’t enter.” I muttered a lie after greeting

he made my heart flutter

Cynthia’s P.O.V. (Continued)I slowly walked inside, but my heart was racing hard. “Good morning, Mr. Lombart.” I greeted him politely, keeping my formal tone. The one that I used to greet Mr. Silva in the very beginning of my job as his assistant.“Good morning, Ms. Williams.” He greeted me formally too, busy with something on his laptop.I gave a curt nod to Chris when he glanced at me. He was standing beside Nathan’s chair on the other side of the table. I stopped right in front of Chris, on the other side of the table. My hands were clasped behind my back, and I kept my neck straight. His gaze was calm and composed, just like a CEO's should be.For me, it was a big relief. From the very beginning of our meeting, I always had this clear in my mind that we would have a professional relationship, and his attitude right now was just perfect.“I guess Chris has already told you that you will be responsible for all the official work with Chris.” He asked me in a casual manner.“Yes, Mr.

her nephew

Nathan’s P.O.V.“Your nephew?” I asked Cynthia when she came back after finishing her call. She got a call two minutes ago, and she walked away after getting my permission.“Yeah. He has finished his homework and is now waiting for me to come back.” She replied with a dotting smile on her lips.I nodded in response. I could see that she loved her nephew. That dotting smile on her lips was motherly.I had seen this smile on my mother’s face numerous times.“We are done for today, right?” I asked her while standing up. Chris was out of the office to finish some other work.“Yes, Mr. Lombart. You have an early meeting with the planning department. Your next schedule for tomorrow.” She replied to me with a professional smile.“Then let’s go for dinner,” I replied to her while taking my suit jacket from the backrest edge of the single couch. I was sitting on the long couch to finish signing some documents.“Dinner?” She asked me, perplexed by what I said.“Yeah, Dinner. Dinner time is appr

her knowledge about Cynthia

Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)“You don’t need to buy anything for him. Cole is not like other children of his age. He is smart, and almost done with all the toys, especially puzzles, lego and all that sort of games and toys.” Cynthia replied to me with a faint and dotting smile on her lips, eyes sparking while she thought about her nephew. We entered the car at the same time, and she immediately buckled herself.“It seems that you have become cautious about car riding after that accident?” I asked her calmly, trying to find out more about her.She stiffened her grip on the strap tightened.“Yeah. Th…. That was brutal.” She whispered the response. I nodded once while driving the car.Mr. Silva told me that Cynthia is not comfortable with driving, and that’s why, I also excluded driving from her list of duties.“Tell me something more about your family, and you.” I asked her calmly, keeping the conversation going on.“You really want to know about my family?” she asked me in a surprised t

my sin

Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)She didn’t speak immediately but took a deep breath before looking at me again.“Can you stop the car at the side of the road, please?” she asked me calmly, but it only made me tighten my grip on the wheel.“Sure.” I still answered positively and slowly moved the car to the side and stopped it.For a good few moments, neither of us spoke.Nor did we look at each other. My knuckles had turned white on the wheels.I didn’t look at her as I didn’t want to see the disappointment in her eyes. The way she spoke before asking me to stop the car, my heart was now racing hard against my ribcage. Her refusal was blunt and expected. She was stronger-headed than my Cynthia, but she was also a woman, and her spot-on observation was enough for me to understand that my persuasion wouldn’t be any easy cake.Women like both Cynthias can’t be swayed by wealth, status, and power.“Let’s not make things difficult for each other, Mr. Lombart.” She spoke in a very low and shaky
