CARTER The restaurant is small, cozy and most importantly, not packed. We pick a booth by the glass windows which gives us a great view outside. Asides from ours, only two other booths are occupied. One with a man who’s wolfing down a burger and working on his laptop at the same time, and another by a man and woman, both of them locked in conversation as they eat. Rory, who’s sitting opposite me, leans forward and braces her elbows on the table, staring at me expectantly. Her eyes are bright and shiny with some emotion I can’t exactly name but I attribute it to positive ones. Her lips are pink, her cheeks slightly rosy. She looks happy and so goddamn beautiful. I could stare at her all day and not get tired of it. Not when it would give me the time to count the number of freckles scattered across her face.
